The most common moss here in the Philippines is the thread moss. Maybe I'll collect some and use them at my terrariums, plus it's free

Hi, great video! I would love to start doing this. Are these mosses collected from a forest or somewhere in the city? I'm from Bangalore and I don't usually see so many types of mosses growing around here even in the monsoon. Similarly, are springtails also easily found?

Can I use moss for carpeting my aquarium? If yes which moss is better and grow dense with no patches that looks like totally carpeted? Will they grow on gravel with soil below the gravel? (1.5 inch gravel above 1 inch soil) Do I need to thread them to a mesh to carpet them?
@pericherlaramachandraraju9796
@pericherlaramachandraraju9796 4 года назад
Fine gravel around 5mm
@TheUrbanNemophilist
@TheUrbanNemophilist 4 года назад
Pericherla Rama Chandra Raju these are terrestrial mosses and cannot be used in aquascapes. There are aquatic mosses like java moss, Christmas moss, Taiwan moss which can be used in aquariums. But they are not ideal for carpeting. You could try carpeting plants like monte carlo and dwarf hair grass in your planted tanks.

@@TheUrbanNemophilist To begin with , are there any way to product mosses instead of using the raw one we found in nature ? Do the feature or colour of the same species change a lot in different temperature or light and humidity
@TheUrbanNemophilist
@TheUrbanNemophilist 3 года назад
@@16laingocphuc69 you can buy propagated moss online or from local nurseries. Alternately you could collect in small quantities from nature and propagate them on your own. You will need some moss to start with. Some people use the moss and yogurt mix technique but I have never tried it. You are right. Moss features can change from region to region.
