I find the "I'm good" to be more of a "I don't have the energy to tell you everything I am struggling with just for you to give me a blank stare and have no answers." After searching for answers for years you get tired of repeating yourself in hopes of getting help only to get nothing. You start to settle in and just accept there is no help so you adopt the "I'm good" to avoid another hope crushing experience.

This is confirming so much. Number 4 was me for a very long time. The last few years I have had to let go. I have felt a bit lost without helping everyone, the feeling good about helping others was my way to have worth and avoiding my own hurt. I am facing that I need help in some areas now, it is scary and vulnerable. The busy has been and is still a cycle that needs to be broken more fully. So easy to do. It is a socially acceptable way of avoiding what hurts but time is passing quickly and I want to be whole. Thank you Mark for explaining so well 😊
knowing our true identity in Christ and trusting Him is also very helpful to let go .. I know I helped others (mostly) only because it was what I needed to feel good .. why didn't I feel good in the first place? not trusting God, being angry with Him, but I go to Him now when I doubt.

Was born into and abused to near death by a pure ego false self for 39 years, just waking up at 40. 90% of the illusions (car etc.) fell away shortly after I was discarded. When you're that wounded all you want to do is fill that void with stuff thinking that's the fix. Healing yourself is the only way.

I love how you explain it so that someone can understand. people that are prideful and judgemental experience a few/all these symptoms. You can't open up to everyone some people gossip, are nosy, judgmental, or use it against you. I'm learning to trust God it is not easy for me because I'm thinking he is just like people. I'm learning about his love for me, his character, spend time with him in prayer and Word. I learn how can I get to know him if I don't talk to him or open the book it is just like how you get to know someone else. We need to know our identity in Christ. We can't let other opinions dictate our values. Some people don't like themselves, deal with insecurities project their insecurities onto you.

Thank you so much for this. I recently started watching your content and it's been eye-opening. When you were talking about the knowledge overloader I immediately knew that you were talking about me. Ever since I got saved I have been consuming a lot of content but I don't think I've really taken the time to to soak it in. I've been watching video after video and I write down notes but I still feel like there's a missing piece. I also must add that I'm an intellectual. For the longest time, I have validated my worth based on how "intelligent" I look/seem. I feel that without my so-called "intelligence" I'm nothing. I also have OCD, I tend to question things. A LOT. I found your content on OCD extremely useful and eye-opening as well. All this to say, I have a long way to go in learning how to just receive love from God without wondering if I'm doing it right, if there's a method i can use to determine how exactly I'm supposed to do it (yes, I spend a lot of time in my mind). But thank you so much once again, your content is helping me become aware of some of these patterns I'm stuck in.
Thank you for making/sharing this. Started the recommended "Experiencing" audiobook. The section on adoption seems particularly useful; the checklist starting chapter five made things clear - there is absence-of (sometimes called neglect), then there is inversion-of (often called abuse). In a moment of prayer I was directed to music, and an implied signal words & the brain need to be subordinated to . . . experience-in, at least in . . . this-stage for this-personailty profile. I've been at most of these I married way too young I remember crying when I was in my 20's when I was talking to some girl friends because I said I wish I could just be myself they asked me why I can't be myself I said because he wouldn't like me I didn't even know who I was I felt insecure and constantly invalidated and never enough
I'm not going to lie I was every one of those 10 before I Fell From Grace so this explains to me why I Fell From Grace, I think I finally have something to pinpoint. I became that way because if they caught you in sin they would shame you and persecute you. I tried to share a sin with someone in the church one time, she was my friend for a long time but she freaked out and never talked to me again ): as far as; why the false self? All 5 of them, the church did to people. And these people were the busiest people I had ever met, they were at church all the time so I somehow got so mixed up in it that I out did them all. I did everything they did but I went even farther, I almost lived at the church and put more hours in than anyone, maybe not as much as the pastor because he got calls day and night. I even became the best Bible scholar and had not gone to their college's. Now I can barely remember a single word ): if I would have had you as a teacher before, maybe I wouldn't have made that mistake because there was many things I new that was wrong that they did, that I did not participate in but when it came to studying and keeping very busy, I topped them all ): if you belong to a church like this and you are involved deeply it's to hard to let it all go because of the shame you would experience, I had to leave my church to be able to let go. I was involved with everything me stopping would have been a big deal to people and I would have been shunned if I would have gone thru what I have been going thru for 3 years now in the church. I would not be able to be free if I didn't but I miss being involved still and I know I'm not able to find a new church until I feel mentally able to handle it because most church's would have no clue how to help me. But this video dose help me because you pinpointed my problem and I felt you talking about God's love all the time was a bit sappy because I wasn't a 100% sure that God wanted that for people that He wants people to see they are sinners but than I feel condemned all over because I would battle with grace and law all over again. This is an eye opener for me and I hope I fix more of my mind with this information.

I don’t know what to do, I saw in the spiritual realm where my sister had a marine spirit and put a dark spirit on me of herself (her false self). Ever since then everything was stolen from me and I died and spiritually became her. I no longer know who I am. I was abused by my whole family, including my sister!
Yep Number 4 is me too. Co-dependent for most of my life and hard to break out of this identity. Being aware is the only way and trying to sit back and not do it all for everyone. It is a very lonely way to be because no one seems to look out for you as they think that you are perfect and don't need anyone else.
A month or so ago I mentioned in a live stream that I was using the keep busy tactic to avoid a toxic person that I had met at church. In a subsequent video you mentioned that avoidance isn't healthy and stressed creating healthy boundaries. The little local church had a membership class. I went and it was her, an old lady, the preacher, the layman and myself. This woman was all about how I was going to come to her house and basically be her hero. I said to her, I don't know what you have going on in your house but through prayer I was told that I am NOT to come to your house unless I bring someone with me to maintain an air of purity. She said she didn't want any strangers in her house. I said that works for me because I don't really know anyone cuz I'm new to being back in the canyon and I didn't want to be involved in whatever she had going on. I didn't know that the church had already done a Biblical reproof on her. She was at church one more time after that and I haven't seen or heard from her in at least three weeks. I suspect they reproofed her again for wearing skirts that were so short her undergarments were showing. With that issue I asked the preacher if I could reproof her on the spot if she did it again and throw a lap blanket on her, they said yes. Thank you for all that you do. Love from Montana.
