Wonderful Sunday thoughts. I stick a pipe n my mouth during these types of situations. Somewhere between right and wrong. Hope you have a great weekend Brother God bless
I honestly have the sense that most things can be discussed through reasonable discussion. There are perspectives that cannot be crossed for one reason or another. But I think the key is removing the emotion from all of it. One can still be passionate without being emotional. When emotion leads the way, my experience has been that it creates walls because the ability to reason clearly has been caged away.
Yeah, for some people that's easier said than done. I think for me, it's because I feel attached to my perspectives because they have someone become part of my identity.
Yeah, and worse yet is when we are hypocritical to the positions we hold, yet cannot see it. And when someone points it out, we just say “yeah but look at how you are hypocritical too!” We can do better😊👍🏻
Hey there JD, I thought that was a really interesting talk you were giving. I was disappointed it was over so quickly. These are definitely things that interest me. I’ll see you on the next one brother.
@@JDSilverTobaccoPipes Yeah, I get it. So far, I’ve struggled to keep my video shorter. I finally got the video down to under 12 minutes. People definitely want it short and sweet nowadays.
If I limited my friendships to people who agree with me, I’d be pretty isolated. The trick is shutting up and listening with true intent rather than just waiting for an opening to riposte.
Trick is the right word for it, in the sense that it takes superpowers. 🤪 But I love this perspective. I find it extremely difficult to keep my big mouth shut! Hahaha!
PIE isn't actually the earliest hypothetical language. That'd be Proto-Nostratic. If the question is whether words have a precise meaning in conversation (as opposed to law), they seem not to do. At least, these days.
IV lost some friends because of that. It's sad to wake up one day and realize people you like start to judge your life path according the the political positioning. Some I'v lost because I tried to avoid talk as I knew I tolerance would come apond . Sometimes I see the world so divided . At the end we are one people.
Yeah, that's sad when friendships are lost over something like that, eh? I agree with you, unity is the key and perhaps something very much worth pursuing
The great divorce has started. We've seen what "getting along" creates. It has brung down society to it lowest, most offended, childish common denominator and tolerating that brings all down, our child raising, how we deal with our wife, our coworkers etc. When God in the past would see that sort of thing starting He would raise up His prophet to pound hard truths home. He won't do that now during this church age. We have Christ, the Holy spirit, His words in print. If we dont "get it" we just don't want to. This thing about "we'll all get along" was never His will.
Hmm, that's a good point. I also have noted that Jesus didn't get into arguments about the things that religious people expected him to fight about... so I want to be smart and pick the battles that seemed to align with his values.
