Need to make duct tape string by twisting the duct tape together, if you tension it enough it would probably be no worse then zipties, at least for the extent of testing. This way should dodge the adhesive heating and hold the pump on tight

I've had a 120mm fan electrical taped to the empty PCIE openings of the case for months acting as an additional exhaust. The tape is colour matched to the case, and the RGB matches the rest of the build. It looks remarkably good considering.

Going to make a PC entirely out of Duct Tape. "Trust me I'm an Engineer" immediately starts playing in my head.

I'll do a video of using food products for thermal paste, ( ketchup, mayonnaise, etc.) Or maybe connecting each individual wire (no plugs allowed,) with hot glue. The possibilities are endless. This is like a post-apocalyptic pc when all screws in the world are used as currency.

The gpu MacGyver special probably works better because you were able to tape completely around the card, therefore achieving a (much) better contact than with the cpu where you could only tape over the top.

I have actually used a shoelace through all the cpu mounting holes and got a cooler to go on and keep temps good. You should make another video like this but use common household items instead of just Dutch tape

I once had a client being in their computer for repairs. It had no side pannels and everything was held in place by wire. Even the motherboard and harddrives. And no not electrical wire with isolation but wire you'll use on fencing and stuff.

Just noticed that at 6 mins and 10 secs when you were showing about the screws that were used when originally mounted for the radiator, is that the wrong holes were used. You had the screws in the outside edge holes when you should have used the inside holes which would have allowed for all the holes to be screwed on the radiator.

The tape job on the CPU cooler was Awe Inspiring! Would have loved to see this in a cardboard box that was duct taped together.

Somehow this reminded me of a friend building a boiler for a model traction engine and using solder to put it together

Wow! You made it and survived poor PC Gaming :P. This was fun and enjoyed much of it. In my early days in building PC. I did the CPU fan of Intel as broke their screw thing and had to put some fan that could do much of air cool better. CPU is so delicate and easy to fire up heat if not be so careful with fans.

A few years back our clutch fan belt broke and we ended up using duct tape to make a new 1. 1. It got us all the way to a place called Goldendale Washington where we could get it replaced that was over 250 miles

That was the same motherboard i had with my 4790k before i upgraded, was a phenomenal board! I loved seeing it get covered in duct tape lol

Next, either a test bench or sexy wall mount case (or if you can manage structural rigidity with just duct tape, a tower case of some description) fully out of tape. Without the space constraints of a case, you could just stack a pallet of duct tape on the cooler to get your mounting pressure.

You should have used a pair of vileda gloves! Position them crossed over the pump block, stretch them a bit for elastic tension and tape the "ends" to the motherboard! Using vileda is always permitted

Next challenge if you should choose to accept it! Pack up that marvelous machine and mail it back to yourself and make a video of how it arrives. It may arrive in better shape than some videos I have seen of other prebuilts.

Considering how carefully the duct tape application was done, this turned out to be less cursed than expected

You could try to cheat and make some kind of string out of long, twisted strips of duct tape that you thread through the holes in the motherboard to better secure the cooler in place. Or you cheat with more physics and go desktop, rotating the computer 90 degrees to have a lesser fight with gravity. But choose your rotation axis and direction well.

Well the good thing with this is you'll need to reapply the tape often. So your thermal paste will never not be freshly applied. But I think re attaching things ever couple of weeks well get tedious. Adhesive and heat don't mix. At least the adhesive on duct tape.

There were many instances where the use of double-sided duct tape would be more convenient, but it is possible to put together a pc using gravity only, lol 1) Amd cpus can be socketed without screws 2) when motherboard sits horizontally and a propper (heavy) air cooler is used then you don't even need a duct tape to create a mounting pressure 3) same is true for m2 ssd - just leave it in the socket

Would simply putting the case on its side be the solution to prevent cpu throttling? Potentially reroute the coolant pipes so that air won't be trapped in the pump, using additional ductape to keep the routing in place
