Idle Control Valve Replaced on the Boosted Miata

Excellent point. I could recalibrate because of the aftermarket ecu I run.

@@Seandoestech I actually found your channel because my idle is crazy after during a few months. It did that before and I only needed to clean the MAF. That didn't work and cleaning the iacv didn't work. Then broke my thermostat neck trying to do a flush and thermo. I'll check the codes tomorrow don't think that will do much

Do I have to remove the TPS when replacing my IACV? Because I don’t have an aftermarket ECU to recalibrate.

@sporadic do not ever remove that thing unless you are working on the tps itself

+Nicolas Teruel I would start with vacuum leaks first, although it does sound more mechanical.

hey there Nicolas , i just had this problem. except mine would hold high at 2k rpms on start up, then 10 sec later it would serge (idle go up and down constantly) then i unplug it, completely went away, i bout a used iac, same condition. bought a new one, same condition, i left the car together and unplugged the iac and plugged in one of my other iac's in and saw when it was plugged in the plunger opened. unplugged its closed, and plugged in, it opens (while warmed up) i saw a black hexagon screw on the side of the iac so i tried a allen key but no luck its a 5 point. so i stuck a bolt extractor in it and turned it with some pliers . slowly the surging stopped, and idle lowered slowly. just dont turn it too fast. and i'd do this with the vehicle warmed up. just unplug the iac then warm up the vehicle. ive ran it for a month and went to a full race day that 2 hours a way with it and all good! on cold start it raises to 1500 rpms as it should and lowers when warm, system acts completely normal now.

Balto D I went to a junkyard and got a throttle body with the IAC valve for like $20 or you can get them on eBay used and a lot cheaper 😅👍

@@diygringo1663 It sucks. I don't like throwing used essential parts on my car. I've since upgraded to a 97 miata and haven't had any ICV issues thus far. Knock on wood. Good luck

Check market place first one I bought kinda a dud has some rust but 90$ just found a second looks like no rust and it came with a throttle body 70$ just keep looking!

No that first mark is more like 30, just past half way the gauge is at 57 PSI

Boosted Miata ok. I installed the same VDO sender as yours on my NB1 1.8. But it makes my oil pressure gauge never reached first mark. And when it’s on operating temp, it’s even lower than L mark.

I use tuner studio, it’s for aftermarket ECUs.

No - I did check to make sure they were tight, but the epoxy is a really good idea.

Not at the moment - been working on some other things but have more Miata content coming hopefully before too long. I spun out on slick road with my bad tires and kissed the concrete divider, so I have some bumper damage to repair plus a new android head unit install that will be way better than my current set up. Stay tuned... :)

Never for me. Mine have always needed replacement.

I tried it this morning reset the codes and bam it worked next time give it a try it’ll save you 2-300 dollars mine is the nb 1.8 so I don’t know if that makes a difference at all

James Downes maybe. They are slightly different, I was thinking phearson drive.
