Speaking as a drummer, my entire body hurts looking at the sheer endurance required for what that dude is doing on “War”. The speed of it obviously, but also look at how fucking hard he’s hitting combined with the speed. Insane.

I didn't realize the album was in the can back in Fall 2019. They were posting updates on social media in late spring 2020 about rehearsals and saying they were struggling to not sound like an Idles cover band. Makes more sense now! Gotta get back into that headspace. Sounds like they got there! IDLES ARE ON POINT.

@@ARogolino1 I think you might be grossly overestimating how "big" those bands were in that time period. They weren't. Most of their notoriety and true impact came only in hindsight - as far as the majority of the culture was concerned. I saw a lot of those bands play in clubs the size of a large living room. It was only in their later years that they ever played larger venues or festivals. I think it's great that bands like IDLES are now able to be seen by a much larger audience - gigs like Glastonbury. But I also think something has been lost. Those smaller gigs in the late 70s and early 80s had something magic...a danger in the air. There was a very real possibility of getting a glob of spit from Sid on you. You could see the sweat rolling off Joe Strummer. You could get close enough to Joey Ramone to actually see his eyes through the sunglasses. I don't know if any of that is possible anymore...but I do get a sense of genuine sincerity from bands like IDLES that I have not seen for a very long time, and it sure as hell gives me a lot of hope for music again.
