I need this man to react to adrenaline dubs dubbing of these comics for the authentic experience of the story without it being explained to him.

YOOO sick, you should definitely give adrenaline dubs a try, they voice over the IDW comics and they add sound effects and music, in some professional type shit, thats how I started reading the comics.

Ian flynn has stated in his podcast that the sonic cant cry thing isnt true.

Idk if I said this before, but if you want to see the Sonic IDW fully realized in a cinematic anime form you HAVE TO watch Sonic Rebound! It's an IDW Animated Fan Series on RU-vid and a wonderful adaptation of the comics, and the BEST Sonic fan animation I've ever seen. There's 6 episodes out right now and the 7th one will be coming in a couple months :) Since it's only 6 episodes I would watch those before watching any comic dubs

for clarification: here are all the (known) mandates the writers have to follow: Game characters cant enter any new relationships Stated currency isn't allowed, unless it's implied Game characters can't die, (and by extension, no bringing back dead game characters (there are also ways to bypass it, like giving a character a fate worse than death or doing a fake out death.) No changing a game character's outfit unless it's approved by SEGA. Sonic can't cry and the amount of emotion he displays is limited No character development unless it's approved by SEGA. Their planet can't be named, it has to be vague Sonic always has to win at the end of an arc. No crossover between other sonic media, it has to be game characters or original character and that's it. Sticks is an exception, but we don't know how okay it is to implement her anywhere. Male animal characters can't wear pants, female characters must wear all clothes. i do also want to note that characters are allowed to not be wearing gloves, which i find interesting. No classic characters, sega (for some reason) doesn't want classic and modern to mix. Shadow has to be an edgelord, akin to his characterization in boom. They have likely lessened this rule as of recent, but we don't really know how much as sXsg hasn't come out yet. (sidenote, a lot of people do blame flynn for this, but it's really not his fault. for clarification, do know he intended to write shadow better but couldn't due to these mandates.) this also means team dark can no longer be a team because "shadow doesn't have friends" New characters based on insects or large animals, jewel the beetle being the exception, are limited. No referencing games directly (this one might have gotten lightened recently, as the comics have a lot of cool and fun references.) Chao must have neutral pronouns. Knuckles can't leave angel island unless there's a good reason. The master emerald can't have any power (this one's likely because of pender's focusing on knuckles history and the master emerald's)

Im pretty sure not everyone reads the comics, so i think it's good for the people who don't see that Tails knows he wasn't at his best in frontiers

If I may I’d like to bring up something that I feel brings down IDW Sonic. The fact that it’s canon. I feel it being canon just puts artificial limits in itself all for the sake of making sense with the games. Instead of taking place right after Forces I’d much rather it be it’s own thing, the games can be canon to IDW but IDW wouldn’t affect the games, starting the series fresh and new and something new fans can jump onto without years of convoluted continuity.

IDW, STC and Archie are the major comic series.

I'mma defend Pontaff this one time: Knux abandoning his Emerald guarding duties started with Heroes, where he just shows up with Tails and they all go after Eggman, leaving the Master Emerald wide open if Eggman decides to go for it. He's also around in Shadow 05 helping out against the alien invasion, and shows up in Soleanna for no good reason when he should be on Angel Island. There's also the Riders games. They've been doing him dirty since well before Pontaff started. They just made him unironically stupid.

The Tails I know wouldn't bend over and show his cheeks to Chaos ZERO. The Tails I know would cook him like he cooked Eggman multiple times. The Tails I know would pull out that mega buster he had in Battle and tell that big drip to read his mags.

Now that you're looking into IDW, don't completely give up on Archie. The earlier issues can be jarring but issue 160 and beyond is what I'd say is peak sonic stories. Thats where the current team at IDW were at their best.

I approve of you watching the game apologist, he has some great videos especially regarding the comics and characters. I'd say hes responsible for making me a sonic fan.
