These are pretty good cameras but set up can be a bit of a learning curve. I just made this video to show some of the things that will make setting up these cameras a bit faster. (Note: Do not buy the 5MP version of the camera they have out; I've had two and the footage is not smooth. These are not ready for release yet until they fix them.)

UPDATE: What I'm finding is that these cameras develop 'jerky-footage-syndrome'. You may get lucky and receive a camera that records smooth footage, but what I'm seeing now across most of my ieGeek cameras is that the footage is nowhere near the FPS (frames per second) it is set at. If you require smooth footage then I can no longer recommend these cameras as a robust solution. They also seem to fail after a couple of years. This starts with dropping connection initially, then they just won't connect to wifi.

I just bought 1 too as my car windscreen got smashed outside my house. The only problem is my son has it set up on his phone & when I try to set it up on my phone its saying camera in use! Any Idea's what I'm doing wrong?

Hi, when I select PC view I only get a small box in the top right hand corner. If I click on it as you suggest I get the message" www.Adobe.com refused to connect". I don't see where I can change this to allow. Do I have to do select the second option "Setup software". Thanks. Pat.

at the start you had a network lead in the cam and router.in the comments some one asked do have to leave it plugged in all the while,no just there for set up..can this cam be set up without it i.e power up the cam,download the app connect to wifi ?i ask because i live in a block with communal broadband and we all use it via wifi so have no access to the router to do an initial hardwire set up before useing the wifi

I have the mounting problem to mount this camera given the antenna is on the right side of the camera. It prevents some pointing position of the camera when mounting it to the right.

Very informative video, thanks for taking the time to put it together. Can you tell me how long the wire is on the power adaptor please? I'm thinking of installing one above my front door put I don't have a socket in my hallway.

I don't have a spare adaptor to measure I'm afraid. I would say a minimum of 2 metres though. You could always contact the seller and ask them.

Thank you this made setting it up, and the extra stuff in ie very useful Mine seems to have dropped off the wifi, do you know anyway to get it back on without getting it from the top of the wall and bringing it to the router Ethernet connection ?

If you can't see the camera on the app, you'll have to connect it up via ethernet. I use a 30m long ethernet cable (circa £5) and just run it to the camera in situ. This happens from time to time; they're not a very reliable camera.

As far as I know you can’t. If you select ‘time playback’ rather than ‘file playback’ it makes it a little bit easier to navigate but there’s no fast forward option. You could just step through the footage using the progress bar.

Hi, thanks for a great tutorial. Just 2 points if I can get clarification please... do you know how long a recording you’d get on 64g SD card before it overwrites itself, based on similar settings to what you had? Also, can all the changes you did on the PC be accessed via an Apple iPad? Cheers.

You should get around 5 days with a 64gb card, but this will depend on the video settings you use. I can access the PC view on my iPhone web browser so I can only see an iPad will be the same.

Have you had any luck setting these up using the wifi hotspot of the camera rather than an ethernet cable? I've hanged my internet provider so need to reconfigure the cameras but they're already mounted outside the house

Hi there I have bought an IG60 won’t connect to CamHi or CamHipro it would find out and even if I rest or connected at ethranet I’ve reset the camera more the once I am unable to set up can you help?

Have you tried setting it up both as a ‘new camera’ and as an ‘existing cameta’? If you have tried both ways with an Ethernet cable, maybe try a different cable and if that doesn’t work, contact iegeek support or return it.

I've noticed the videos on the CCTV are a year apart are they both decent cameras and could you get away with a smaller hole through the wall just for the power cable. Thanks

I would go for the latest models. The older one is less reliable. If I recall, you'll get away with about an 8mm or 10mm hole for the power plug through the wall. 👌🏻

Thanks for your very informative details, would you be kind enough to confirm the actual model number ref of this one... ieGEEK seem to have many variable models which look the same but differing prices so I am rather confused as to which is the best one for my front door monitoring under a entrance canopy my router is close by although for cable access purposes would want to connect by WiFi and not with Ethernet cable

Camera being used in Porchway and view of front drive...thanks again..

Yes, they'll work fine. I use the endurance cards as they are designed for the constant overwriting you get with CCTV cameras. The standard cards just won't last as long before they fail.

No, I don't. Have you tapped the speaker button? If there's a line through the speaker logo, it's muted. Also, check the levels in audio settings.

Hi My new camera works fine when installed without cable connected but over night it seems to dissconnect and go off line.The only way to get it back on is to reinstall with the cable. Then it happens again.any ideas.?

I’d try a reset (hold button in for 20 secs) and set it up again. If you still get the same you’ll need to contact the supplier.

Thank for a good video I have set up one camera and now looking at adding another, is it the same sequence i.e. add sd card, connect to router then add camera on the app. Also in video setting I am unable to adjust anything, bit rate, frame rate or image quality ? Shame about flash going, is there anything else to replace it for my Mac

Thanks Tony. Yes its the same process to set another camera up. When you say you can't adjust anything, do you mean the settings cannot be adjusted, or you adjust them but the settings are not stored?

@@tonykitchen8857 I don't actually mess with my cameras much now. The iegeek ones are dotted around the house; the main one I play with is the google nest one at the front of the house. That said, I just tried my iegeek cameras and I too cannot make any amendments to those video settings. That's strange. I'm wondering if iegeek have locked those settings in the app for some reason. It doesn't really bother me but if you want an answer, why not email iegeek and ask them. If you find out, it would be good if you can put a reply here to help others.

You were an excellent assistant! thank you. I have one question though. Does my device have to remain plugged in to an outlet in order for the camera to remain on line? I unplugged the camera and placed it outdoors, and now it is not running online.

Thank you. Your camera should retain the information in the event of a power loss. I would say you might be too far away from your router. I would move it inside near the router and power it up and see if it is recognised in the app. If it is, you will either need to find another spot for the camera or run an Ethernet cable to it if you need coverage for that area.

It depends on what size of card you use, what settings you choose and whether the camera they send you works properly or not. If you leave the video settings alone, with a 64gb card you might get about 5-7 days. You’ll have to contact the seller regarding recording to a server, that’s not something I have done.

i think you can, If you can see the video from the camera on the PC's monitor. If your 'PC' has a 'Video Out', you can hook up a DVR or even a VCR.

I've bought 2 of these could you help how do you set up to record all the time or doesn't it do that. I have the same camera as you in the video I did everything you did it records with motion detector and it randomly does planned recording I cant find that in the instructions cheers

If you have the app set to 'enable recording' and checked 'easy setup' it should record all day every day. If it isn't, I would first format the sd card and if no joy, try another card. If still no luck, reset the camera and start again. If that fails, I'd be returning it.

Hiya … I have some of these cameras and I see you have a Mac computer nearby so can you monitor the cameras on your Mac as I don’t believe a .exe will run on the Mac computers .. thank you

When you say it won't let you change the settings. Do you mean you can't physically change them or it just won't save your settings? I've seen it before where I have tried to change the kbps setting and it seems to reset back to whatever it damn-well pleases.

@@craigc1615 I think I'd first format the SD card and if still the same, try and reset the camera (hold the reset button on the end of the cable in for about 20 seconds) and then set it up again. If you still get the same thing, give the supplier an email and ask them what's up. Be sure and add a note here to follow up, it'll undoubtably help someone else. Good luck chaps.

When you set up the camera on the app, select ‘device in use’. If it won’t connect then you’ll need to connect the camera to the router with an Ethernet cable.

I have just purchased two of these cameras and set them up yesterday, really good picture although the sound quality is very poor all I'm getting is a load crackling from the cam's Not sure if I've done some wrong ?

You can get wind noise but it doesn't sound like that's what you are experiencing. If they are both the same it might be an idea to contact the seller; they come back to you fairly promptly. I take it you are using the camhipro app?

Adobe have killed off flash support for browsers now so you won't be able to view on PC. You can still connect to the camera to amend settings though if you type in the camera's IP address (look in camera settings, device info) into your browser.

Thank you I was worried it was something to do with the flash player when you mentioned it in your video (to allow flash to play) I can get the settings up on the pc fine. Now I need to find a browser that still supports flash 😀 (probably won’t)!

I've been trying to get the camera to see a 128GB card without success. It is happy with a 32GB card which I see is formatted to FAT32 by the camera. As far as I can tell you cannot format a 128 card to FAT32 and I have tried exFAT format. Any suggestions? Great video by the way. Thanks, Andy

The camera should definitely work with a 128GB card. I trust you have tried formatting the card in the camera using the app software? Have you tried read/writing data to the card in your computer to prove the card works? If so, and the camera is new, I would return it for a replacement. If the next camera won't work with your card then you have a choice to make. Either return the camera or contact the seller and bitch and moan until they send you another camera or card. They'll likely be forthcoming in doing this. Hope you get sorted Andy. Please let me know how you get on. 🤟

@@GeeWhizRS On camHi the card details showed 0 for the card size and the Format button was disabled so I didn't have an option to format the card while in the camera. I was able to format and access the 128gb card on a PC and create a text file so nothing wrong with card. I'm sending the camera back and getting a netVue with 2-way audio instead. Hi - I have opened the instructions and it says: Please make syre that the micro SD car is absolutely genuine class10 card. Also adds: If you use the SanDisk brand Micro SD cards - please make sure it is the white one which is specialized for security surveillance. (general SanDisk SD card doesnt apply to this device). So - mine was paired with the device in amazon selling options and I thought it would be the right one. But it is the same as the video - and not white. and it says microSDXC UHS-I Card 128 GB and there is a 10 in a circle. I am confused whether to use this or not. I hope you can see this soon Gee Whiz... I need some advice please. Derya (UK)

A class 10 card is fine. The white cards mentioned are endurance cards and more suited for constant overwriting. They are more expensive and will last longer. The cheaper class 10 cards will work fine though.

For that adjustment you will need to connect to the camera using a web browser. Find your cameras IP address in device information and enter that into the web browser address bar. Enter your user ID and password and then you are in. Go into Media > Image, then find IR Cut and adjust.

If it worked on WiFi in the house and it won’t work on WiFi outdoors I’d suggest your WiFi connection is too weak at your installation point.

Assuming you are using the camhipro app (and you should), check the 'SD card plan recording' settings page and ensure its set to 'easy setup'. If its on 'advanced' you might have it set to day only. If I've understood you wrong and you only want day recording, but you only get night footage, then I would say your time zone needs adjusting.

You can’t affect the picture quality in settings. If you are only viewing the footage in your phone it’s likely that you just need to switch between SD and HD in the viewer setting.

You need a good mobile signal. If you have a strong signal, reset the camera and set it up again. If it still doesn’t work contact support. 👍

I can no longer get mine to connect with the app on my phone, it just says "connecting" for a few minutes then says "disconnected." I've tried resetting the camera, uninstalling the app and reinstalling it, but it just will not work anymore for some reason. The camera wasn't in use for about a year, would that have anything to do with it?

When you are setting the camera up on the app are you selecting a new camera or existing? And, have you tried it both ways? You can contact iegeek support, they will always try to help you. They don’t check your purchase date.

@@GeeWhizRS That's a good question actually, I think I selected existing camera but, I'll try it again tomorrow. Are you meant to use an ethernet cable to connect it? It's just I don't remember how I set it up when I first got it, did the package come with an ethernet cable? I just scanned the code sticker on the side of the camera and the details automatically came up on the app but fails to connect. The camera itself seems to be working electronically and boots up as normal.

@@James-4812 if it won’t connect as existing and you are setting up as new you will need to connect with the Ethernet cable. If that doesn’t work contact support but it will likely be buggered. They’re not that reliable.

Hey man! Just to make sure, is it normal to have some recordings where the video is like with less fps or lagging ? I just got 2 of these cameras and I have some videos that don’t play at 15 fps like I set it up.

Normal, yes. Acceptable, no. Jerky footage is common with these cameras and it can’t be fixed. Return them mate. I wouldn’t buy another iegeek camera.

@@DiogoiRibeiro To be honest mate, I'm very impressed with the google nest camera. This is the IQ outdoor model and is working rock solid so far. There's a lot to be said for not having to piss about with cameras. If any of the ieGeek cameras die I think I'll replace them with the standard google next cams, not the IQ version. I wanted the IQ version as I sometimes use the camera at the front of the house for RU-vid videos. You'll pay about £100 a year for the nest subscription but I think it's worth it. To get the same level of footage recorded you'd be into at least a 128GB mini SD card. If you have a few cameras to install then this becomes a better prospect. There are a few things in life you can't scrimp on. Security is one of them as I am coming to realise.

@@GeeWhizRS thanks for the feedback. I just contacted iegeek about my footage being jerky and slow, let’s see if they can help me out. I thought the cameras were good, at least your review on Amazon and even this video were positive. It’s super hard to find something cheap that works fine

Contacting support will likely be a waste of time if you have jerky footage. It seems my cameras are all lately slowing down. I was thinking earlier I should amend my Amazon reviews.

Hello there, Great informative video👍 Quick question, I have just bought the same camera But I don’t seem to get the same video quality. I think It’s set at 720p instead if 1080p. Would there be anyway To check this? Thanks

When viewing the footage in the app, there’s a SD/HD button at the bottom of the screen.

Gee Whiz RS Thanks for the reply. I seen that. So that is the only adjustment available for this camera? I have the last model of this camera and find the video and picture quality I’d much better. Maybe down to the WiFi. I’ll have to look into this. Cheers

Try Internet Explorer. A lady made a comment recently that it was still working with flash.

Thanks for the video. Really good. I have bought one of these but now hear horrific stories about security issues with these types of cameras. Have you got any advice to keep the camera secure? For instance, have you blocked it from connecting to the internet in any way? Any advice appreciated 👍

I think this will relate to those that leave the username and password as ‘admin’. Then, anyone with the camera ID can access your camera. Change the password as soon as possible.

Does it really use Flash in the web interface? If it does, then it's useless now as Flash is no more.

Yep. If that's a deal breaker then you will need to look elsewhere until they sort something else out.

That means a scheduled recording period. So if you only wanted to record footage between certain time periods.

@@steviegee9 The camera will overwrite the old footage. Leave it set like this. If you just want it set to record motion then you will be very disappointed with this camera as motion detection is a weakness of this and other cheap cameras.

In the app click the settings icon for the camera you want to change the name. Then click the small icon that looks like a pen to the side of the name.

i can`t pair it up with my phone , it wont pick up the sound

If it won't pair with your phone it won't pick up any picture either. What have you tried?

@@GeeWhizRS i got it to work for about 24 hours then all it saids is camera is offline , the only way i can use the camera is to go to wi fi settings on my phone and click on the camera name but by doing that it takes me off my sky wi fi and i can`t use the internet

@@carlw38 I think I'd try connecting it with an ethernet cable and seeing if that wakens it up. If not, you could reset it using the button on the lead (hold down for 20 seconds) and start again. If that doesn't work it sounds like a return to seller.
