I once made a parody bard that was actually very faithful to his wife it was fun he was a rich noble and kept adopting kids together with his changeling wife however people kept assuming he was a playboy because he had 50+ kids and every time he went around with a different looking girl

True story, for a campain I played a bard, then for the next campain, I played his son. Considering how things were with my bard, when I played his son, each time we got to a new city, the DM told me to roll a d20, which was the number of sibilings he had in that city...

I thought the twist in the end would be that they are all adopted and he's the best and nicest person in all the realms. He is sick of a horrible, dibilitating genetic disease, but he tries his best.

2:50 silly bard. The joke was that he had 36 kids because he was running an ORPHANAGE, taking care of kids who lost their parents in vicious monster attacks. And the reason he went on this adventure was to earn money for the ophanage, find the cause of these vicious monster attacks and maybe stop them so more children don't end up without parents....like him when he was their age. Music was the only thing that reminded him of his parents, who taught him to play the lyre in the first place, the only thing that brought him joy in life, and he had to rely on it to earn money while growing up on the streets, barely scraping by til his next meal. It's why his stats are low. It's why he is so weak, skinny, clumsy, unintelligent etc. Which is why he wanted to give others a better life but after the player had enough of your constant ranting and incessant nagging, he finally gave in and turned you into the very thing you were afraid of becoming

Bard Skills aside, I’m surprised Ranger hasn’t gotten the gist yet. Was he really that hopeful? I helped my brother build his first DND character for a one shot I ran, and he kept pace with a Barbarian’s DPS, doing about 40 damage a round. They need more love.

I believe, the "bard is just a rogue who is into music" style is underestimated. The smuggler bard who is always in some trouble is one of the best characters I have ever played. On the other hand, I'm not sure if it is funny to watch.

Saw a person who played a bard and in there backstory they had adopted an entire orphanage. They went with noble background and his call to adventure was to help make money with their performances and not only support them with their family’s wealth.

Reminds me of the bard who thought they were a paladin but all the miracles ended up being terrible party tricks. So he “renounced” the gods and went full evil, praying to the one god who listened to him-Cthulhu. Eventually multiiclassed into goo warlock. A lot of orphans got murdered in temples

Me looking at my 5 bards that are all unique in their own special ways: Boy it feels nice to be creative! (I have a bard who has to use deception instead of performance sometimes because she can’t sing. Melody, you’re doing great sweetie!)

the worst part is that i purposely made my bard on being more of a con man thief who only seduces people to strait up rob them....recently we as players found out that he may have single handedly brought his species back from being endangered (in this world his sub-species of elf were almost wiped out due to a disaster a hundred years or so ago)

I really thought the punchline was going to be goat kids. Did not see that one coming. He must be a beginner-area villain npc, and that's why his stats are so low.

I have an idea for a bard who's actually super wholesome. He's really introverted, and hates being the center of attention, but he loves writing and playing music and he's really good at it, so he just gets in the zone and starts playing and forgets people are around. Of course, then he finishes playing and he's super uncomfortable with all the applause and he basically just hides from the crowd. Also, every single time he finishes writing a piece, he sends it over to his sister who training to be a wizard at a wizard academy, because she's the one who taught him to play his first instrument and he misses her.

I have to point out the elephant in the room... Is the ranger one of the 36 kids in the bard's basement?

Ran a Bard with a background that in a previous adventure he did seduce the Big Bad and now in the current campaign he has to be an adventurer to pay child support. Shit was bleak.

Most fun with ranger, make them a lizardfolk, preferred enemy humans and elves, close quarters only. Give them the urchin background. *Slaps cellar door "This bad boy can hold so much meat." Become a horror movie monster.

My favorite bard is a warforged who has a magnetic pink mustache as his disguise, wraps himself up in Christmas lights that my DM lets me use as a makeshift whip to do cool stunts with, has a small hoard of cats, and just wants to open a cafe to house all the cats he's picking up. No one knows how the Christmas lights are on. We just went with magically enchanted. Oh, and apparently he smells like cinnamon according to my DM. I love him so much.

This is a really sad stereotype for bards. I love bards, easily my favorite class to play. But people can be really annoying with the whole seduction thing (even if bards are particularly good at that). I've seen plenty of warlocks played that way, paladins too. It's just annoying when some of us want to be a fun support character. Wonderful video!

I've got a bard who really does not understand sex. In the most recent session someone thought they were flirting and told them that she wasn't interested and their response was, "what are you talking about? Is that a sex thing?"

I was looking at some of the skills of a Ranger the other day, and they do have some nice skills I wouldn't mind trying.....if only I can find someone to try with.

For those who like the ranger, I salute your devotion to the single best exploration class in the game who is also pretty good in a fight. For those who need some convincing or want other options, check out the revised or spell-less ranger; both are pretty sweet (I personally REALLY like the spell-less ranger). Just double check with your DM to be sure if its ok

Ooohh that is actually a great idea. Unassuming but grim dark Bard, like the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Except Pied Piper got 130 kids while this novice only got 36. People make fun of him, or cheat him, he smiles amiably and says they shouldn't have done that and leaves. Next day the offender's life becomes a living hell and no one could find hair nor hide of the bard ever again.

My Cleric that I've been working on has stats that are actually a little similar here. She's high in wisdom and charisma, but is exceedingly low in everything else. That plus the negative modifiers, I accidentally made an weak, air-headed idiot, who is so charismatic that no one cares.

Man, that was awesome. But now i need the cleric one, because my head hurts from laughing.

I recently created a Bard Character. They are: A Chaotic Neutral Male Forest Gnome Outlander background Bard planning College of Lore. He isn't the complete stereotype. He is a "Momma's Boy" who was convinced by his Momma to explore the world beyond the Forest. But he has a 'weakness' for "Dommie Muscle Mommies".

After making each class, come back to the Ranger and make him with the highest rolls and a wicked background.

I think it would be funny to see the different ways all the classes interrogate a captured bandit. Those moments are always the funniest in my campaigns

The Bard runs an orphanage and his backstory is that a pied-piper like Rival trapped them all in a phantasmal state. They are currently being watched by clerics in the protected basement of the orphanage. He’s on a quest to find his old foe and free them, bringing the children out of the basement and back into reality.

I am so down for this to be a recurring series, with multiple videos for each class, exploring various jokes/tropes/ subversions. Plus, there’s always subclasses to mix in…

I gave my bard character a camel, elephant, donkey, longship, and pony. All in his backpack.

For some reason my brain went much more wholesome than the ending. I saw 36 kids and immediately thought, okay they previously ran an orphanage; good starting point if one/some of the kid/kids were kidnapped or if the building was burned down from arson/dragon. Would also explain all the negative modifiers cause that shit will just eat your soul as time goes on.

You know..... just tossing this out there, there is a background option for "that" player The Outlander background if I remember correctly has an ideal option that reads "I must produce offspring for my clan" (or something like that) I apologize to all the dms out there that struggle with "those" types of players.

I played a Bard. His was a wareforged named Box... well, the DM set him to be a prototype wareforged. Making him a foot tall and he only needed four hours of rest... but completely shut down, as in once I was out nothing about wake me up. He was played as a child type running around with the group and was used to help the party get away with stuff and get discounts "Pwease I would like to get a heawth potion to protect my fweinds". He was cute and I love him. My party even said if anything happened to Box they would kill everyone and destroy the universe. When one of his friends was sad about not getting a card collection he wanted Box sat and made him cards to make him happy. The guy thought he was going to get the Deck of Man Things but it was a trick so Box (not understanding what that was) made him cards that said stuff like "Box will get you the nicest rock around" or "Box will tell you one of his most popular stories".

*My goblin bard wanting me to give him more supportive spells and more shinies*

I'm a DM, and the best NPC I've ever created/played as was a tiefling bard. The hook was that she was 50-ish, but because tieflings age slower than humans, she was basically an adolescent. She lived at home with her "super old" mom (72, but human, so actually old), volunteered at her local library, carried her lute everywhere, and was trying to impress some local human young adults because she wanted to join their band. She was bright pink with frizzy hair and talked like the perkiest 14 year old you've ever met.

My bard (first character) has 9 strength, 10 constitution, and 20 charisma. Her charisma is so high because she's very persuasive. My goal is to get to the BBEG fight and pull a fast one on my DM with the peasant cannon. Until then, she's just gonna do what she wants and get away with it by convincing people that she didn't do it. (She also multiclasses as a domain of trickery cleric)

I'm confused. Wouldn't Jack of All Trades just makes those all -1? Like I'm not crazy right, it's only half proficiently rounded down right? So at most, at level 20 it's a +3 boost making all those ....a whooping +1. Is there some exploit I don't know about?

Bard: Charms the dragon by seducing it. Bard: Tells the Sorcerer/Wizard to offer to cast haste on the dragon to empower it, a gift so to say. Sorcerer: Stops concentration on the dragon’s turn. Rules as written, the dragon loses two turns. With the inability to take actions until after it’s next turn, the party should be able to destroy it, right? If not bloody it?

i think the bards i've made are either turning them on it's head or a lil grimlin (I only have 2) I have -Tobias, a Bardblin. He just goes around playing music and trying to talk about goblin lore and such. He's very sweet, but also lowkey a gremlin. Hits you with a spell then hides or runs off. -Maximillian, or Maxie for short. He seduces and pretends to have interest in others, only to punch and knock out the others in private, and steal their stuff. He's multiclassed into rogue Just wanted to share this here :)

Thinking I might make a bard that acts seductive but when you go to there room they make you close your eyes and then they slit your throat for the dark lord. There also part warlock probably should have mentioned that.

I made a bard once named Xander Doodle Dandy. His instrument of choice were the spoons and he was actually a hibachi chef.

Played a Paladin for years, never seduced in my life. I was too busy controlling the party sense I was 'the mom' in the group. Now Warlock, slightly the same, but I did terrify the shit out of some of the npcs when I played a Fiend Warlock. Bards are still the top seducer. I had my bard in one session that I just played slept with two women... which found out they were doppelgangers and killed me in my sleep. Never seduce npcs who you found along the side of the road to go to baldur's gate.

I just spent a couple of minutes thinking about the twist in the end, and I just realized that, since he's a bard, he is the Pied Piper who lead the children in the basement as a revenge to a town.

36 kids.... no wonder he has to adventure... to pay all that child support

Frankly, a secretly evil bard who uses their charisma to move suspicion away from them sounds like such an interesting character if you and the DM manage to actually communicate and get it to work in the story correctly
