@itsomarz9337 Try it and tell me with a straight face that what I said is wrong. Likely those cars will drive much better in terms of handling, no doubt, that's the Li's weakest point, but the rest, this has got them cooked.
I really enjoyed your video, I'm and American that has lived in China for 16+ years and purchased my first Chinese brand car, the Li Auto L7 Max about 4 months ago. Words can't express how much I absolutely love this car. The tech is amazing, the ride is so smooth with the air suspension and I can't even begin to describe how comfortable it is to drive. I basically use the all electric driving mode since most of the time I'm driving in the city but for the few times I made long trips it's nice to have the 1,000km range when driving in Hybrid mode. Similar to your L8 I went with the 21" wheels and I think it gives the car a nicer look. I completely agree with the title of your video .... This car would Smash the US Sales Chart !!!!!
That's awesome mate, so glad to hear it. It's great to get feedback from others and that you love it as an American says everything. It really is a brilliant car, all 3 of them. Enjoy it.
This model as a shooting brake would be pretty much perfect. Nice quality, well packed technology wise, several physical buttons, way more convenient than most EV or most hybrids, full of features, etc. Feels like a +100k car after all the options. If it came to Europe for 70k euros after taxes it would destroy the competition.
@@InsideChinaAuto they are 20years late. Nice car but everybody knows. Now it's EVs time. Why do u need an engine while you have 40kwh? Just add another 40 to long version. Co2 taxes are coming. This is bullshit. Like showing new generation of horses while cars are already available
@mateuszzareba3889 Well the good news is that Li are going to fully electric from the end of this year when their new car comes out. For now, there's a transition phase to be managed whereby people need steadily convincing that EVs can work for them, long or short distances. Li are handling this very well at the moment because their sales are going gangbusters in China.
We bought the L8 Pro. The AD driving is much better then the review tbh. You can fiddle with the settings to make it stop closer to the vehicle in front and it's much more responsive and "natural". The overtake is the only annoying part of the AD. Great review overall. Loving me L8 and even though I drive in Beijing, it's fun, comfortable and a very enjoyable.
Glad you're enjoying your L8, it is a great car. I just found that on many occasions it waited until right behind the car in front then thought about it a bit then eventually overtook. If you like maintaining momentum as I do it's just a bit annoying, but most ADAS systems are reactive rather than proactive which is their biggest failing. Overall a great car, I enjoyed it very much.
Your channel deserves more subs! Would be awesome to see a compilation of your Shanghai - Xi'An roadtrip footage. This car and the L9 are the ultimate family guy roadtrip weapons.
Thank you very much. If I earn them, I'll get them, it just takes time. As for the video, I hope I'll get round to it but these car companies won't stop making new stuff.
We just bought that car and it's amazing how much you get for the money. Don't think there's anything even close to it on the European market for about 45k (i think), i heard they are heavily supported by the government to realize those prices and wonder how much it will be once it sells overseas. Would be amazing if they aim for similar prices. Don't think its comparable to a gls tho - at least not yet
Glad you're enjoying the car. It's quite an incredible vehicle with a lot of kit and great accommodation of the whole family. I think it's right up there with the GLS on a lot of stuff apart from the dynamism which is a bit more boaty but is very comfortable.
i see your point and they certainly aim for the luxurious classes of Mercedes (even the seller told us it's just like a Mercedes). We got some extras like the fridge and tables and i think they are half there - which is great as it's less than half the price. @@InsideChinaAuto
I am traveling in china and saw the car in the shop, the battery is now 52.3 kwh. It is amazing. The workmanship is above and beyond anything i saw before. I looked at Tesla and lexus in comparison, LI auto is better than lexus and of course tesla. For the price of model Y, you can have this car that can travel 1400 km on a single tank of gas. Now I understand why elon musk is worried. This is the real deal, why would any one buy tesla if you can have this.
The downside is, of course, that this burns fuel, but I can only agree with everything you said about the fit and finish. There's not another brand I've tried that squeezes as many soft surfaces into it than Li Auto. The lack of plastic things to touch is incredible. They feel so plush.
Which came first, the L8 (or perhaps L9 is an even better example) or the Xpeng G9? The exterior looks fairly similar to me, and so does the 2 screen interior. I find that many of the Chinese EVs share many design elements, although there are lots of exceptions of course (like Hongqi and HiPhi).
Sure. I believe the L9 came first (and the same design goes for L8 and L7) though G9 was very shortly after so no chance to copy, it's just that Chinese consumers demand many screens and there's no point putting a 15-inch screen behind the steering wheel so they put one where it would go normally and another for the passenger.
At some point I suspect they will but it may take some time. Europe seems to be the first priority because there's a few hurdles to get past with the US being so afraid of good competition.
Amazing car! I haven’t try that but many people think highly of it 😂 but I have no much interest on HAVAL’s cars because they always copy the other’s exterior 😂
Our family of 4 are very close to buying the L8 so this review is very timely. I have a question, does the car require a home/apartment charging point or does the engine take care of the battery thus meaning it doesn't ever necessarily need to be charged?
Good timing indeed. You don't ever have to plug it in. You can if you want to never use fuel but if you don't have charging at home, no problem. The engine charges the battery, that's all it does, essentially giving you the EV driving experience with the longer range of fuel.
@2002metube You don't drive to charge the battery to full, you drive to maintain charge that drives the motors, so you'll always have EV drive if you have fuel or battery life. Usually using fuel will maintain your battery level roughly as it is. UI doesn't yet have English though.
i hope it comes with PHEV version made with range extender generator, like INNengine amazing tech. does the L8 have places for screws on roof to install roof racks & basket?
Haha, they don't make them in RHD yet. It's quite a bit of work to make that happen. I also hope they get there, though they may feel quite big on UK roads. Bloody lovely cars though. I say that whilst sat in the driver's seat of an L7.
@InsideChinaAuto Hi...thanks for the review...i think prices have come down and if importing, it is evev better priced than a year ago when the review was done due to yuan weakening against the USD.. One question...would the map work for navigation if exported? is it built in map or can be mirrored from phone?
@@InsideChinaAuto Thanks for the info, just another quick question, does that mean you don’t really need to charge the battery, since the petrol engine does that for you?
@ibrahimismailoglu359 Sure. Obviously you wouldn't get Li Auto support but there should be decent servicing options from 3rd party brands who can deal in EVs and ICE cars as you'll need a bit of both.
I'm searching but there are no other companies that bring it. It doesn't have to be Germany. If any company in Europe brings it, I can buy it right away.
My uncle left school without any qualifications and he's the most successful of anyone in our family with business. Sometimes you just need to know people and have business sense. Li Xiang seems to have that.
Should probably try to learn some Chinese then, or at least memoriae what's in there. My Chinese isn't great but I've never had an issue with these or using what's in them.
@@InsideChinaAuto You reviewed the car, did you not take a closer look? FYI, the Chinese have never made an internal combustion engine of their own design. Of the 200+ Chinese car manufacturers, the majority use either Isuzu or Mitsubishi engines and transmissions, licensed or copied, same goes for platforms. Chinese car makers assemble cars like they assemble phones, parts bin manufacturing. I stand corrected, the 1.5 designated CE15F is manufactured by Xinchen China Power made under licence from *PSA Peugeot Citroën BMW*
It's made pretty clear in the video this is an extended range electric vehicle, which means it has an electric drivetrain supported by an onboard engine for extended range. The car can be operated purely electrically without any fuel if desired, so while it may not be the most efficient setup, it can technically be an EV.
hybrid is not an EV? why do they receive the same amount of tax credits/benefits then? like it or not it s still considered an EV even if it is not a fully EV.
I don't have any contact with "China", whoever this is. I'm here in my own back presenting the picture of what's going on. Don't trust me? Then go read some articles from the journalists who came over for the Shanghai Auto Show last month and see how surprised they were. I can only help give you a soft landing for when these cars arrive.
