As all Barotrauma players know, bot AI has been a running gag and/or a source of frustration ever since their introduction. I simply couldn't ignore bots, so I made a video dedicated to them. Enjoy.
4:07 - HAHAHAHA bot just randomly says "Can you hear that? Like something clawing at the hull" and you're like "SHUT THE FUCK UP!" when the sub is like being flooded. Hahahahahhaah I would have said "Well yeah no shit" and then have a crawler or a mudraptor banging on the sub sound effect playing in the background or comes out of nowhere and attacks the bot.
I have watched this 20 so times over the last week and have a related story. In a modded campaign (EK + Nuerotrauma + Dynamic Europa) it's mostly me and my chief medical officer Dr Warcrimes. We sometimes have 10 players but then I had one full session on my own moving through the aphiotic plains. After one day of piloting our modified humpback alone and nobody showing up the second day I give in and scrounge (Sell off most of the armory) up enough money to buy some bots to man the guns and make sure the boxes stop burning my arms off. Much progress was made after this and I even found some much needed rare crafting materials from wrecks and ruins. After the third day of me playing alone Dr Warcrimes and others come back and after a while they have a similar moment to the machine clown. Except.... Dr Warcrimes said he'd recoup what he could by harvesting most of the bots organs. After hearing the bots voice lines countelless times and their demands for more coilgun ammunition on loop or they can't get into the armory I almost gladly allowed him to take them into his medbay and efficiently pull out their liver, kidneys, heart, lungs and both arms and legs. While I can't say I was happy afterwards (I was still losing money on the bots) I can say with certainty we had a good laugh over the terrified newbie asking what was up with the pile of dead in the medbay. We gladly explained to him the merits of black market organ deals as we gunned down a greifer in the cargo bay, over and over and over again.
That's a good story lol. I love reading Barotrauma stories. Somehow they always end up sounding like creepypasta. I think there's an option to disable bot dialogue in the lobby settings, in any case this happens again.
5:04 umm you can sell them i sold mine at the start of solo campaign. But soon realized fixing the entire sub every time one mud raptor decided to enter my sub with no gunners or just getting stun locked by one bots are still a must.
