For part 2: • If Disney Villains Wer...
For part 3: • If Disney Villains Wer...
Featuring:
The Evil Queen (Snow White), Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty), Gaston (Beauty and the Beast), Scar (The Lion King), Dr. Facilier/Shadow Man (Princess and the Frog), Mother Gothel (Tangled), Prince Hans (Frozen), and Jafar (Aladdin).
A video examining what would Disney villains be charged with if they were to be in court.
If this video turns out to be popular, I might do more of these.

For Gaston, they missed inciting a panic, organizing a riotous mob with malicious intent, physical abuse/assault of his friends and various townsfolk, continued harassment of a singular person and her family, firing a firearm in a crowded town square (reckless endangerment), Assassination/treason (since the beast is a prince), and I'm sure there is more.

@19Ledor 2 года назад
Let’s see, from memory of the films events she committed: 0. She keeps that flower secret despite it being able to save lives (not sure if that is a crime). 1. As mentioned child abductions. 2. A lot of child abuse. Keeping her ward confined to tower, verbal abuse, gaslighting, lying and manipulation. 3. Child exploitation. She is holding a child prisoner so that child can keep her young forever via abuse and manipulation (I would argue thats child exploitation). 4. Criminal conspiracy (I think that is what it would be called); She teams up with the two thieves under the pretence to kidnap and exploit a child. (Although she backstabs them she still ends up doing those things). 5, 6, 7. As mentioned Attempted murder, kidnapping, animal cruelty. 8. Her accepting Rapunzels offer would probably be interpreted as a form of extortion or blackmail (depends on the lawyers and judge). 9. Even after healing Flynn she was planning to leave him chained up in the tower. Either false imprisonment (Flynn is a criminal but she ain’t the state) or attempted murder. 9. If she was planning on letting him starve to death this would be Breach of Contract since she and Rapunzel made a verbal contract. (However it would be easy for a lawyer to weasel their way out of this). There are some crimes left out but you would have to elaborate on most of them and even then some would be up for a court to interpret.

@Breedo
@Breedo 2 года назад
actually I don't think you could say that, Gaston do have black mail and destruction of property aka the book. But harassment while the scene seems that way I think it has got more to do with Gaston being so full of himself that he's blindsighted as to untold body signals. Belle should have been clear since he was clearly not getting it that she wanted him to leave. I kinda feel sorry for gaston, he did do bad shit like the attempt to black mail and bribing the public official. But let's think about it, is gaston really the bad guy in regards to the beast, he doesn't know anything that the audience does the beast technically could be counted as an animal while he's in beast form. I don't think it holds up to call it attempted murder. It's like if someone found big foot and shot it then it turned into a person. Like it wasn't a person when he shot the creature. I don't know like the more you think about it I think Gaston and the mob were justified in hunting down the beast he was a threat to the village from that perspective, they had no idea whether he was dangerous or not. In a lot of ways I think Gaston is more of a tragic hero then anything, like even the black mail thing asking belle to marry him, beast did the exact same thing keeping belle captive so why does one get a pass but gaston doesn't. Gaston is also like a victim of being influenced by everyone in the village and no one outright telling him to change his behaviour. Like they basically lay it down like to the point that he'd believe belle would be better off married to him. I don't think he's outright evil either, like from a certain point of view while the whole scene with the book and all in the beginning was him being a dick he did kinda point to something, belle was being a outsider to the entire village and everyone talked behind her back, at least gaston was truthful with her and confronted her told her to her face what was going on. Belle was also very judgemental towards the villagers even like seeming to look down upon them, which probably wasn't doing her any good in making any friends. In a different story with a different set of events gaston would probably have changed or tried to if belle told him to. Like how she wanted beast to change. I don't think Gaston would either hesitate putting his life on the line for belle just like beast did. Like he literally did put his life on the line to save her from the beast which would have seemed like a horrible monster possessing her in the eyes of someone from that time period and with the knowledge given, like how could a woman fall in love with a strange animal creature? Like the more you peel away at it gaston was really a hero's who's ego and lack of self reflection turned him into a villain. Gaston was really a good guy with his head on wrong.

Fun fact, the crimes the video claims does not apply to Scar. Treason Definition: a failed attempt to betray and take over the king. Scar kills Muffasa, so the treason was successful, this is revolution not treason, and revolution is not against the law. First degree murder: As I stated Scar successfully killed Muffasa in a revolution, meaning he has the right to become the next king if wants to. Also a successful leader of a revolution has the right to banish or execute the former kings family as seen in the French Revolution. So it’s justified for Scar to kill Simba.

For Snow White: You forgot aggrevated assualt with intent to cause greivous bodily harm (The apple was poisoned, and even if you survive poisoning it can affect your overall system/lifespan) With Sleeping Beauty: It's actually 2nd Degree murder more than voluntary manslaughter. If she had not uttered the public threat of death, then fine - except for the fact manslaughter is not intentional; where she very clearly intends to kill the princess. The curse was changed, but on arguing magic as a deadly weapon in concept (since it does exist in these confines) it's properly second degree murder, and only because she did not have time to plan it out first. [If you want to further put a crime on her list, in the original tale the prince doesn't simply wake her up with a kiss. He fully consumates an assumed marriage while she is asleep... and she wakes up carrying his child. So that's on both parties * Disney wasn't going to cover that part, but I'd add it as background] Gaston: I would further add - attempted Poaching on the King's Land. (He is a beast at the time, if Gaston wanted to argue he's a hunter and wouldn't be bound to human laws for the death, he WOULD still be bound for that one, as the Beast was the legal Prince and Heir to that land's throne - which since he was at that point adult and his parents were dead, he was actually the King of. Which is why I do not call Beauty and the Beast "Stockholm Syndrome." Nor what he did outside of his fully legal grounds. In that time, as her king he could have done FAR worse and been firmly justified) Scar: Illegal exile of a rightful monarch. I do find it funny his henchmen were promised a free lunch; and then he became as such. Gothel: Remove the Child Abduction - in the time of the fairy tale, barter was most common. She was promised the thing most valued for the lettuce he needed to see to his wife's cravings. So she was actually enforcing her own legal rights on contractual agreement... however the laws back then were also not usually documented, so most contracts were in fact verbal. It SEEMS like her crime, but it's actually Repunzel's father's. (Made all the worse in the movie, as he is a king... where in the original tale he's just a commoner, thus more likely to not be able to give anything of assumed monetary value) I'd also add child neglect. Since she only ever visited repunzel on a set schedule, for set purpose. Kidnapping, as her then assumed legal guardian [as above, she would have been] is incorrect. * You can only be called a kidnapper of your own legal ward if the other parent - most commonly a female - does so to the police. [Which I still think is flawed, but I don't write the custody laws] Frozen: You forgot Elsa. That's all I'm going to say. As to her parents: Wreckless endangerment of 2 minors. Neglect of proper training of a child with special needs; which would have spared Elsa a lot of grief in fact, and frankly would have allowed her to lead a more peaceful life. But then we wouldn't have the sequel. Elsa, random property damage/destruction, involuntary attempted manslaughter (An ice spike through the heart is LETHAL - Disney!) again reckless endangerment of an entire soveriegn nation. I'd also argue ineligibility to rule, due to voted incompetence - since she never once thought to GET training for her powers and chose to be a shut in. I think I'll stop here. I'm probably gonna get flamed for some/most of these. One last thing about Elsa and Anna; Yes... you do need a KING. The power of love doesn't need to save her because she's your sister. Gah. Do none of you understand the second most important responsibility of ROYALTY? There is a reason that they married them off without their consent, be it a prince or a princess. There's a reason being born royal more often simply meant until you learned enough to be an adult who could rule well... if you chose to learn anything at all, you were mostly a bargaining chip. Here's a hint; if you never have kids... there's NO ONE left to lead. Anything! Neither of the pair are stated to be immortal. So yes, the romance aspect DID matter. Also "Let it go" can definitely screw off. Even outside of being an earworm song. How about "learn some self control and you might not be normal, but you can bloody well function to the point you seem so." Yea, I know. Too much of a mouthful. The "bottle and blast" personality in pyschology is NOT healthy. For anger management, or in general, and it's certainly not something you should be teaching impressionable young girls. Or in this case a queen who could flash freeze the whole damned world. Just a thought.
@georgeoldsterd8994
@georgeoldsterd8994 Год назад
I mostly agree with what you wrote. However, a couple of points: Rapunzel's story in the cartoon allegedly takes place in the 19th century, by that time laws in European nations were already documented. As to Elsa needing a king, that's not necessarily true. It depends on a state's succession laws. The thing is that, as you've so well pointed out, being a special needs person, she would probably not be eligible for the position of ruling monarch, married or not. This would have prevented her from finding herself a (potential) spouse even if she needed one. But, again, we don't know the exact succession laws in her kingdom.

Maleficent should technically be facing a charge for attempted murder against Prince Philip. And if she had her army searching the forest, the town and the mountain for the princess, that would technically be illegal search and seizure and conspiracy to kidnap. There's also abuse in the work place, when we see her zap her minions for failure. Gaston could also face charges for attempted sexual assault, as he attempted to force himself on Belle before falling into mud. Scar would also face an additional charge of conspiracy to commit first degree murder, as he sent Simba to the Elephant Graveyard, where the hyenas attempted to kill him and Nala. Quite possibly a charge of false imprisonment as he imprisoned Zazu in a rib cage. Wouldn't Hans also face charges for B&E, and possible assassination of Elsa when they stormed her castle? As well as false imprisonment? And technically, he would be facing charges of conspiracy to usurp the throne, as that was his goal when attempting to marry Anna. Wouldn't Jafar also be facing conspiracy for high treason, as he was planning that since the start of the movie? Not to mention he was hypnotizing the Sultan to permit him to do whatever he wanted. Seeing how he ordered the guards to capture Aladdin when he learned he was the Diamond in the Rough, that could be a kidnapping charge. Quite possibly manslaughter as well, when he ordered the thief into the Cave of Wonders which resulted in his death. And seeing how the thief stole the half of the scarab and "had to slice a couple of throats," theft and homicide by proxy could be added to his charges.

@semajmoore1926 2 года назад
@@yanagelfand4337 realistically we just think it's murder because we love these characters, they have personalitys and can talk, but again, realistically, it wouldn't matter, it's not murder to step on a bug, and fighting to become the leader or one on the throne and even killing another lion is normal lion behavior as far as I know, none of these animals are getting charges, and mr. "top hat death sign" ain't getting charges for stepping on a measly fire-fly, I'm sorry if you believe it, but let's be real, why would you charge an animal for killing another animal? Which is just normal on a regular basis, and like the guy above said, you can torture a spider or some insect, and all you'll get is people questioning your mental state, however just killing something casually and not torturing it at all is completely normal, you likely wouldn't get judged unless your dealing with an insect lover.

Maleficent being a trespasser is a little muddy. On the one hand, yes, she actively wasn't invited and told she wasn't wanted, but on the other, a christening back then would have been a public event, right?

That's actually true, it's the only crime that isn't true here because it's a public event even if you "weren't wanted" by some there, unless you where a threat to the royal line/ throne (eg known/ suspected assassin, suspected of any treason) you where welcome to attend because NOBODY was INVITED to it.

I believe you can add coercion to Gaston’s list due to his attempts to force Belle to marry him. 08:54 It is difficult to come up with laws and criminal charges for fictional things like magic, but I believe this could be filed under a form of coercion or violation of free will. What’s the official term for dosing someone with a drug, or something else that inhibits their thinking and cognitive prowess? He’s definitely robbing her of her right to refuse his demands.

Maleficent wasn't exactly trespassing, according to my mom, because the royal family were in the wrong due to not inviting her, which, by looking at the fairy hospitality law, she didn't exactly commit the trespassing offense. What makes her even more justified in her actions was the fact that the royal family also only invited other fairies. Had they invited Maleficent, she may have actually given Aurora a wonderful gift.
@knightofarkronia9968
@knightofarkronia9968 Год назад
Or more likely, she would’ve found some other excuse to curse Aurora. Being the self proclaimed ‘Mistress of All Evil’ doesn’t paint the picture of handing out cupcakes and lollipops.
@georgeoldsterd8994

She could have been exiled or forbidden entry\ attendance to the castle. We don't know this, all we have to go on is her expressing her disappointment (\other negative feeling) for not being invited. So it might have been trespassing after all.

Technically Jafar would have false imprisonment due to the fact that's how Aladan got prisoned there in the first place even if Aladan would've been guilty for stealing many things; Jafar specifically stated it was for kidnapping the princess.

I love how breaking and entering was casually skipped, as well as the genocides/attempted genocides Yknow what here’s everything I think was missed: Jafar technically committed theft (stealing emperors clothes) and also committed attempted regicide Gaston was breaking and entering and technically committed animal cruelty by stabbing the beast Gaston was literally harassing Belle at the start of the film Scar committed domestic abuse / abuse in the workplace towards the hyenas Scar may have also committed domestic abuse towards his nephew-? After turning evil, it is trespassing to go into the Pridelands. Therefore, Scar and the hyenas all committed trespassing. If you count the humongous fire as a crime, property damage. The hyenas committed murder upon Scar May add more later The beast kidnapped Belle and her father When Hans locked Anna in the room, it may have been considered as imprisonment, torture, etc. Gothel broke into the palace Jafar broke into the cave, which may have been historic or sacred. Definitely robbery though, because the carpet lives there so it’s sort of Carpets’ house. Following squatters rights, the cave belongs to carpet, so Carpet could see Jafar in court Jafar usurped the throne As a bonus, a few crimes the protagonists committed: Aladdin: committed A DAMN LOT of theft, technically breaking into the palace, impersonation of a prince, producing and handing out illegal or unregistered money, trespassing / breaking and entering into multiple peoples houses in one of the songs probs more. Elsa: Attempted Homicide as well as Attempted Genocide Building a goddamn ice castle illegally (maybe squatters rights protects that or her power as Queen but idk) probs more Ranpuzle: Homicide? Thanos snapping? What would you call Mother Gothels death? Tarzan: Disturbing nature (which has to be a law somewhere) Manslaughter (accidental h@nging) Animal cruelty (death of the jaguar) Harassment (directed at Jane when they first met) Public indecency (lack of pants, a shirt, shoes, and is wearing a rag. Pretty sure that illegal somewhere.) Trespassing (on jungle) / of Gorilla territory? Assault/Harrasment/Animal Abuse/ Animal Cruelty? (on Elephant in the kid water scene) Tarzan’s mom: Child abduction Breaking and entering Assault (upon the jaguar) Animal cruelty?? (Also upon the jaguar) The Gorillas: Attempted Murder Murder Conspiring murder Property damage (of the British camp) I might more later. Point is, the heroes have committed way more crimes then the actual villains. As of right now, the heroes committed a whopping 24 crimes. And that’s just the people I listed. There are HUNDREDS of Disney protags that broke the law. This is just the few.

Grace Walden 1 month ago (edited) The beast kidnapped Belle and her father -actually the Beast only kidnapped Belle's Father he didn't kidnapped Belle, Belle CHOOSE to stay with the beast. As a bonus, a few crimes the protagonists committed: Aladdin: committed A DAMN LOT of theft- well he couldn't get a job because he was poor, and in order to surive he didn't have a choice but to steal since he iddn't have a money to get food technically breaking into the palace- is it really? impersonation of a prince- actually no - because if that was true, it would mean he would have stolen a real prince's identiy producing and handing out illegal or unregistered money, - trespassing / breaking and entering into multiple peoples houses in one of the songs - Elsa: Attempted Homicide as well as Attempted Genocide - She never wanted to kill anyone-not her sister either times, or her subjects. Building a goddamn ice castle illegally (maybe squatters rights protects that or her power as Queen but idk) probs more Ranpuzle: Homicide? Thanos snapping? What would you call Mother Gothels death?- Well when Mother Gothel wanted to kill Rapunzel for wanting to save Flyn...? I would call it "Self-defense" Tarzan: Disturbing nature (which has to be a law somewhere)-the animals don't mind Manslaughter (accidental h@nging)-that's Clayton's fault not Tarzan's. Tarzan could have killed him with a gun but he didn't and I believe he says something like "I'm not like you" Animal cruelty (death of the jaguar)- well Jagaur was going to kill Tarazan's gorilla family, like the Jaguar did to his real parents) Harassment (directed at Jane when they first met)- If you were a male whom didn't speak any lanuage, how else would you communicate with them? Public indecency (lack of pants, a shirt, shoes, and is wearing a rag. Pretty sure that illegal somewhere.)-not in the jungle Trespassing (on jungle) / of Gorilla territory?- not when the Gorillas are his adoptive family Assault/Harrasment/Animal Abuse/ Animal Cruelty? (on Elephant in the kid water scene) - Tarzan’s mom: Child abduction-well its either that, or leave the kid to starve to death whom couldn't fend for themself. Breaking and entering-the Grollia Mom heard a baby crying..and wanted to explore, if the 2 adult humans are dead, whom to stop here? Assault (upon the jaguar)- the Jaguar was going to kill the baby Animal cruelty?? (Also upon the jaguar) -jaugaur kill the bay The Gorillas: Attempted Murder-self defense Murder -aganist jagaur, or Clayton, first self-defense, 2nd clayton did it to himself Conspiring murder Property damage (of the British camp)- okay only sane one I might more later. Point is, the heroes have committed way more crimes then the actual villains.
