Human beings often have generous views of themselves - not always easy to defend. Massive scientific advances are sometimes used for destructive purposes.
This lecture looks at our changing understanding of ourselves, focussing on Charles Darwins theory of human origins and the religious, scientific and ethical questions raised. Does a tendency to violence reflect our evolutionary past? If so, what can be done about it? Does it help us understand what is going on? Or to work out what we can do about it?
Modern humanists have yet to come to terms with Darwin and the idea that humans are like other animals.
The transcript and downloadable versions of the lecture are available from the Gresham College website: www.gresham.ac...

My personal view: Life is energy We are conscious energy in a body and we have the evolution, of listing to what we feel about are personal emotions.And the knowledge of this power,can become addictive when used on others . We are children learning how to understand are places in the cosmos . And we learn different meanings(shearing). And that’s the beauty of real listening. WE LEARN AND EVOLVE. teaching is another form of learning( by listening) and when done properly the learning is involved with are incredibile curiosity. Being an observer of one self (emotions) in this creating universe. Is one of the best tools(emotions )For Self Improvement. And that means letting go of judgment for observation , curiosity, listening. And especially to be less Sirius less personal in others life(there emotional reactions ). and more intimate with are self (emotional )as a energy force a very powerful field force.

Energy, electricity can be managed, manipulated , changed completely by us and others. Like anything the best way to understand is to learn about it. And the best to understand is oneself and how, way, when, I act react and respond. What I’m learning about myself in this world that I have been created in to. I’ve dedicated so much time in how others move me ticks me please me. without realizing that my body is my instrument, and my boundary is that I play my instrument and when I trust that you will respect my instrument (as I should yours ) we can play together to the vibrations of the world of learning Very hard to achieve when I berry myself in a state of judgment and expectations suppression neglect of myself or the world around me

19:15 Hegel saw this too when he wrote in his _Phenomenology of Spirit:_ *”Evil resides in the very gaze which perceives Evil all around itself.”*
@maxmedia8640
@maxmedia8640 Год назад
That would also mean that evil stems from desire, which is behind that gaze hidden at all times. Desire is to live and To live is evil, as other things have to constantly die for you to live. So it could really mean that desire is sparked simply by 'Wille Zum Liben' as Schopenhauer best put it.

If robots are so great and humans so bad... then why do they depend on humanity for their creation? I suggests robots created by humans will be just as imperfect as their creators... they will be necessarily limited creations due to the clearly defined limits of human perspective.

But I don't know how to speak up against what I believe is your dictation, tyranny, and bullying - in delivering such a statement ("The world is a mess because not enough people understand"), all the while Paradox of Tolerance by itself does make sense - in part to my understanding that humans are generationally really bad at raising children.

If people took a stand by coming together against political corruption and corporate greed (both left and right wing)-if we talked to our neighbors about issues rather than hating the political ghost of the other, then we might have a system in which progress actually benefits the working class and expands the commons rather than one in which our massive gains in productivity/GDP are gobbled up by the 1% owner class of this world.

Because intelligent discussion like this gets 3k views in 6 months and content like this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VYOjWnS4cMY.html gets nearly 400 million views, is it any wonder the world is a mess? Even if that video is trying to portray a message it is just glorying it in some people minds and kids will watch it because it's shocking and cool, the same reason they put expletives and sexual content in music videos.

@alexjonker5732
@alexjonker5732 6 лет назад
Every human being has a certain potential. If humans are by themself usefull for progress, the more humans the better seems to be the case. Instead what happens is that a large amount of humans solely need to survive for themselves and those they care about, and a minority does something similar, but simply has different standards, care about well-being instead of survival. It is not the amount of humans that is the problem, it is the way that we use them.
