Out of my 12 years of being in this hobby, coming from primarily video games, no other game has blown me away like Company of Heroes 2nd Edition has! And that was even after first playing on TTS. I’m a huge RTS fan who has played just about every rec people have mentioned for the genre and none has come close to this. I’d even say it’s the best video game to board game adaptation. It’s too bad its price will keep others from enjoying this masterpiece.

Super fun premise my list would have Too many bones, Robinson Crusoe, gloomhaven, and Cthulhu death may die all in my top 4. Past that I have a lot of adventure games I’d have a hard time picking between. Arkham Horror 2E, Nemesis would probably make it. Oathsworn might make my 10 too, but I haven’t played it enough to see if I’d want replace or swap it with Gloomhaven. It’s the first game to threaten that position for sure! I think I’d throw in Final Girl, which I’ve had an enormous amount of fun solo. Marvel United has been a huge crowd favorite across a large number of demographics for me. I want to add in a good euro like Castles of Burgundy or wing span, but I think I honestly enjoy thematic adventure games and dungeon crawls so much I’d rather just round out the list with a few more of those. ❤

Hmm…. A quickish list of my top ten keepers: Frosthaven(because I’ve played most of gloomhaven now) Zombicide Lost Ruins of Arnak Tiny Epic Galaxies Sleeping Gods Castles of Burgundy Burn cycle Too Many Bones Oathsworn(I haven’t got to play it yet, but am confident it’ll be great) Massive Darkness 2. I do have a lot of games I haven’t had a chance to play yet tho, and plenty more yet to be delivered. But this is my list so far

The top 10 games I would keep from my collection are: HeroQuest, DragonLance boardgame, Willow Game, Battle Masters, Magic the Gathering, Sorcery: Contested Realm, D&D (just because my books are signed by the artists), Arkham/Eldritch Horror (I'm counting them as one game), Cthulhu/Zombie Flux, and MetaZoo!!

@@GameBrigade It's hard to choose between all of those as I haven't fully explored all the content in each of them. ATO might be my #1 right this moment but once I play through all of it two times am I really going to want to play through it a third? Part of me would choose Oathsworn because its less unwieldy than KDM and ATO which makes playing it so much more attractable. KDM I have not played enough but I imagine would end up being my pick due to its modularity and less emphasis on Narration.

Your list is superb. I don’t have Bloodborne though, but love KDM, ATO, Tainted Grail and Oathsworn. How do you rate Bloodborne and its quality?

@@Deltium5683 I am quite biased because I love the IP. I think it captures a sense of urgency and for me personally I think it captures the theme very well. Its a mini campaign dungeon crawler. Each campaign is three scenarios. Short but it still has a nice progression to it. You have to carefully plan your moves, it is far from a dice chucker. Their is a built in timer that tends to be peoples complaint but the game needs it and is what prevents you from out scaling the content and provides the urgency I mentioned earlier. To me it gives me my fix of a campaign game while being far far more accessible to almost anything else out there. I have a hard time saying it is for everyone due to it being different from other games in its class but I will never get rid of it.

Interesting, what have you heard about it? I might suggest watching one of the No Rolls Barred in person clocktower games. They are great fun.

From what I understand it is exciting if you end up as a good player, then you actually have a puzzle to solve, otherwise, as evil you are just a clog and obstacle making sure good players have fun, all you do is lie ... and that's where the dull part is ...

Have you ever played Final Fantasy TCG? It is very well balanced and fair. Only a few cards have been banned. They do a real good job with it for sure

Hm. I don't think magic is that great. The problem of too much land or too little is a problem. A lot of games innovated on it. It's the most popular and expensive. Not sure if it's "the best."

It continues to release content at a pace that keeps the game fresh, it has the best rules that are very clear without confusion like other games. And it offers a huge variety of options.

Decent deckbuilding skill will mitigate the luck of lands. It may unfortunately come with a price though. And honstly, you need to embrace this part of the game instead of bashing on it. Mulligan is also a huge part of the game, which also helps on your land count. I personally think that a 4-player commander game is the ultimate "board game" experience.
