@@MyCleverHandle to feel human again I bought The essential makeup (foundation, powder, mascara, and eyeliner). I actually had one small eyeshadow palette in my purse. I also bought a moisturizer and hair essentials (I have very curly hair). Beyond that I bought things as we needed them. My neighbors made sure we had some furniture and kitchen supplies. It’s fantastic how wonderful my community has been.
As someone who's lived with a below poverty income for 28 years I'd do almost a full face of Wet N Wild. Sure some of their products suck, but on a budget I'd be grateful for anything.
Jen: I don't line my lips because I'm lazy as hell. Also Jen: I mix this lip gloss with eyeshadow and make my own colors. 😅 I also don't use lip liner very often, I just got a chuckle because I think we each have steps we see as a waste of time.
I'm listening to your video while at work. When I heard you say the GXVE eyebrow pencil my head snapped and I grabbed my phone 😅 The GXVE brow pencil is the WORST eyebrow pencil I've ever tried (it literally hurts when applying and barely transfer off any color). HOWEVER, I noticed the one you love is a different style than the torture device I picked up at Marshall's 😂

Neutrogena hydro-boost gloss in Pink Mocha (But I love that clear gloss hack, great idea!!) And then some skincare, sunscreens....
I can relate to this video in a very real way. Covid happened and August 26th 2020 I had a heart attack, September 1st I had a double bypass open heart surgery. Needless to say make-up was not a priority. All my make-up expired. I recently went back to the working world. I've bought a few things so far. Looking forward to make-up shopping as i go along.
I don’t normally shop for drugstore foundations because of aging skin and shade matching issues but I picked up the Revlon Illuminance and what a wonderful surprise. I reach for it on light makeup days and it’s very flattering. Definitely my best drugstore purchase of the year. Just a heads up- be prepared to smell like a can of paint for about a minute. There is no odor once it dries. I would love a different (or no ) scent but not at the expense of the finish. I’m a NW20 in MAC and chose the Revlon #217- nice cool tone and doesn’t oxidize.
This was an interesting approach. I kinda assumed the "what would I buy?" Would be more focused on what is your absolute #1 of each type of product, like a minimalist collection of all time favorites. This was more real world, being cost conscious, bouncing back from a tragedy mentality. I can see the benefits of both types of videos!
My parents’ house burned down a few years ago, but my mom was out of town and so she had a lot of her makeup with her. And that was one of the first things she mentioned: “At least I don’t have to buy new makeup.” 😅
Essence Lash Like a Boss has a waterproof formula, it’s really good. I agree about lip products, I don’t need them to last. I just want them to be comfortable, not bleed or settle into my lines. I really like colored balms for that reason. Maybelline Green Edition Balmy Lip Blush, Burt’s Bees Kip Shimmer and L’Oreal Paris Glow Paradise Balm-in-Lipstick are good and reasonably priced. NYX Butter Balms are good too. Finally, Patrick Starr has a great lip liner that is $14 and is creamy. Love it, but only need it if I’m going out for the evening, which is rare. I’d probably skip if I was rekitting from scratch.

I’d probably start with a good cream concealer, a translucent powder, a brow pencil, a mascara, and a nude rose lipstick. Between the concealer and powder I can cover any blemishes and under eye/eyelid discoloration and have it stay in place all day, brows and mascara are the quickest route to looking awake and polished. The perfect shade of lipstick could also do double duty as cream blush, or if used sparingly and mixed with a dab of concealer, a cream eyeshadow. Personally I’d work on rebuilding my skincare and brush collection before adding much more in makeup proper. I’m assuming that anything that would take all my makeup would also probably wipe out one or both of those categories as well. All the makeup in the world won’t get you far if your skin is a wreck and your application tools aren’t up to the challenge.

I'm a budget gal, but I would first buy my only full price higher end product - bareminerals complexion rescue gel, then mehron mixing liquid, which does wonders for less pigmented makeup, and prob work my way thru the cheapest drugstore lines, using CVS coupon's, to build out a full face.
Milani has a lot of good, basic products. If I had to start over again though (I'd first be sad to lose my Tati palette), I would have a hell of a time figuring out what eyeshadow palette to replace first. I'd likely just start with my mini Violet Voss Care Bears palette because I reach for it a *lot*. I only use the CoverGirl skin tinto most days and also their tinted lip balm. Milani blush is fine but I'd skip eyeliner and mascara myself. If it was winter, I actually might pick up the Physicians Formula butter bronzer for a little extra colour. :) $60 for my basics, $80 with the bronzer
For fun i created my own list. I realized i would need 9 items (minus sunscreen). I made a sephora only list and an ulta only list. It was just fun and interesting to really consider my faves and priorities if iw as starting over. My highest cost items are my primer (47!) and foundation (47 or 49). But theres a 3.50 blush i love too. I have high standards so thays all saying something.

Maybe an hourglass bronzer. **Edit to add eye primer!!! I’d get the Milani eyeshadow primer. ** and after I bought the essentials and could buy more I’d get that Dior highlighter quad in universal. Until then I’d just use what’s in the Natasha trio. *and chapstick!!!
😢. I’m living this nightmare right now. My car was broken into, the dirt bags 🤬took it all. I’m now in the process of replacing everything. It will take time. For those that are going through this, it’s a process and hang in there. ❤

I used to be an Essence Lash Princess mascara stan but i find them too drying on my lashes which I feel go crunchy after a couple of hours ... I have now gone back to my fabulous L'Oreal Voluminous mascara (carbon black). Btw, your daughter is different looking but she is just as gorgeous as you, Jen ❤
3:54 korean sunscreens are so good and so affordable i can't convince myself to purchase any american sunscreen esp over $20 (even tho laniege is like k beauty) you can get a good k sunscreen for like $5!!

I had a family member still everything single Beauty product that I owned!! It sucked so bad! It was my aunt!! I wore makeup every single day but suddenly had to stop. I had a family I had to take care of! So about 2018 I started buying makeup again after almost 10 years!! So now I have way more makeup than I had back then!! I mainly had a caboodle that I used and some makeup in my bathroom!! I didn't have any choices like I do now!! I have way to much makeup now and don't want to get rid of it because I know what it's like to not have any!! Im just at the beginning of the video!! 💝🤗💝
This was a very enjoyable video to watch as I did a mental rundown of my absolutes. I also enjoy makeup and would really go in if it weren't such an expense for me. So I'm barefaced most of the time and full faced with all the things on special occasions/outings.
Hi Jen i know mine would cost a fortune as my skin care alone i know will be well over the top ! and my primer and foundation alone again will cost a fortune too ! as anything which goes anywhere onto my bare skin is luxury ! sorry but it is over the years i have gone up and up till now i just love the good products ! and my skin loves them too !
I think these favorites are fun. I always wonder why everyone seems to get the new stuff. If I had to replace my make up, I would replace it with my classic staples like BH Cosmetics Brush set. Estée Lauder Double Wear, Maybelline Age Rewind concealer, Thrive mascara, Sigma eye primer stick, UD Brow Blade, Benefit 24 Hr Brow Gel, Natasha Denona Glam or ColourPop Stone Cold Fox cool nudes. MakeUp Forever Artistry lip and eye pencils in black, light and dark browns, and beige pinks. Whatever shade of blush and lipstick/gloss I was interested in trying that week. Ardell lashes, blue duo lash glue. UD All Nighter Finishing Spray.
jen, what shade of the revlon foundation do you use??? the mur irl concealer is such a favorite. i don’t use primers either, just a moisturizing spf. i’m definitely going to try the sephora powder, but the moira powder is AMAZING!!! the only thing i use in my brows is the elf wow brow. the ulta matte eyeshadow primer is a HG. i still loveeee my older colourpop palettes, and i also reallllly love beauty bay palettes. i don’t use liquid eyeliners, but i love colourpop’s eyeliners. i’m a drugstore mascara gal myself, and essence makes awesome mascaras. colourpop’s super shock blushes are amongst my favorites. i love nyx’s lip liners and their glosses/lip oils. the milani color fetish lipsticks are exactly like high end. i have to try the pleasing mixing medium. i don’t think your total was as high compared to the others i’ve seen make this video!!! 🥰🥰🥰
I've been moving and got rid of a lot of things... and I feel like i could have decluttered more? With age i prefer to focus on skincare and what i know works for me rather than trying bunch of stuff I'll never use again. But i can't throw away my Galaxy Chic palette from BH, discontinued and most likely expired by now but the best baked eyeshadows ever.
I end up using my lightest shimmer eyeshadows for highlighter if I so choose to apply it. I probably wouldn't get contour either, since I could probably use a transition shade. As long as I have the basics I'm good: foundation, concealer, lips brows, blush. Everything else can wait

I know I could never give up my Charlotte Tilbury Magic cream. I know it’s overpriced prob but I can’t live without it.😅 other than that I use sunscreen then a little of the Rose Inc concealer, which I use for concealer and foundation and I only need a little.
Sometimes I wish content like this provides a second option that is more internationally available. Eg. I live in Australia so no ultra - no ultra eye primer. But we do have NYX and Milani at Priceline. I know it’s complicated and I and other international subscribers probably make up a tiny percentage of viewers. But I’m throwing it out here on the off chance you’d be interested.
Every time I try the green essence mascara i end up disapppointed. It's either too watery or completely dried out. I live by the purple & blue one though. I think I've used at least 4 or 5 of the purple one now. & my favorite concealer is the Loreal Age Perfect radiant concealer.
Realher brow pencil. 100% I've tried them all.. I haven't found anything better. Brow gel.. NYX brow glue.. I love it better than any high end I've tried.

Why did you feel it was necessary to include the vitamin C serum and the sunscreen? Neither are makeup products and you could've squeezed in both Essence mascaras 😉 I knew eyelashes HAD to be included in this line-up, I mean, it wouldn't have been a "Jen's makeup replacement" vid without them. A bronzer and a nude lip liner would definitely be on my list, but, like you, I wouldn't bother with a highlighter. Mad love to you 💚💗💚
