Happy resurrection Sunday my sweet!!! Girl, you just preached a sermon on patience and faith! We've all been in situations that test us, that will push us to have faith in Him. He wants that from us. And when we do, when we open our hearts to Him, he gives us exactly what we need, maybe not what we "want", but what we need, and He knows what's best. I understand and empathize with your feelings about nature and want to offer an idea for you that works for me. I recently reread The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgeson Burnett. It a sweet story which illustrates how tending to your own garden can bring such peace and beauty to your life but it is also about the idea of planting a garden in your own mind. If you plant a garden in your mind, a thistle cannot grow. Now in the Spring it’s a good time of year to consider gardening even if you only read about it. I hope that you will feel better this week. Sometimes we cannot be in nature so we must bring nature into our mind. Remember to plant a little seed in your mind and be aware of tending to it so that it will grow into a rose. 🌹

Southern Indiana is a great place to be, rural yet close to 2 large cities. There are lots of lakes in Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky to explore on vacation. Living in Kentucky, I'm partial to it. 😊 I think there is a State Park near Jasonville. When we first married 33 years ago, my husband worked for this railroad in Cinci, but now works for Verizon.
Yes! So, so pretty. And you're right: there are a few state parks near Jasonville and they were all beautiful. Also, I love that your hubs worked at a RR in Cinci back in the day xx
Loved what you said at the end about not being able to receive the blessing God is handing us because we are clinging to what we can’t let go of. That is a real struggle and I can totally relate. It sounds like you know what to do and I am sure you will know the answer and God will help you see it clearly. That is my prayer for you.
Kate, you seem to really love where you’re living. It fits your lifestyle. Has your husband considered looking for a management position in a different field? The railroad jobs just seem to limit his choices and force relocation. He has the skills so it would be a matter of finding a similar fit
Hi! Yes, he definitely has. No bites yet, though. Also, I should have explained that the major reason he's trying to find another RR gig is that his pension is tied up in the railroad. I'm not sure how other pensions work, but in this industry, if you take a job in another field you basically forfeit your full pension. It gets rolled into social security via a convoluted equation that isn't very lucrative in the end. We both have 401(k)s, too, which is good, so finding another job with a matching program would be ideal. I hope that makes sense! xx
Totally appreciate what you are experiencing. I generally find that the unknown is scarier than any of the potential outcomes. Keeping good thoughts for whatever the outcome is. You have each other and your faith and those are the important things.

Happy Easter Kate! Sometimes talking helps to get things off your mind and allows for some peace from God to enter. Has your husband thought about looking for a job related to the railroad industry? Maybe the the South Dakota Department of Transportation may be worth looking into or the Department of Forestry. Just a few suggestions. I will keep you and your husband in my prayers!
Hi! Yes, that is so true. It really does help. And I appreciate the suggestions, too! He has looked into Forestry (I actually thought of looking into it myself... I mean, I'll hang out with trees all day any day haha) and the DOT, too. No bites yet, but he does send in his resume whenever he sees a job pop up for either industry xx

I'm sorry for your suffering and I personally would be walking on pins and needles, extremely frustrated; I can feel your impatience and anxiety, I would be going nuts. Happy Easter. I think you did a beautiful job of explaining what a lot of us go through & experience. Two expressions to consider- 1. Let go, let God & 2. like the song goes "Jesus, take the wheel." For those moments of silence/w God or wanting to share w/your husband I feel hiking is a great opportunity. For me personally, I feel very spiritual & close to God through his Design (of nature & all its beauty). It puts things in perspective. Yes, God is Great & is giving you so many blessings. ❤🙏🌅
Yes! I totally agree about how spiritual and therapeutic hiking is. That's probably why I love it so much. And I also love both expressions because they are so true. It's almost like we stop fighting the waves and instead, surf them with God as our board! Thank you xx

We are all given choices on a daily basis. Discernment is the key to making them. Asking for guidance (hey I need a little help here) in faith and belief, that guidance will be granted. ...then the choices come. I pray you are submerged in discernment when your faith pays off.

Lost my cell phone in a lake while hiking the Mongols. Really odd situation though, but maybe telling about the company in general. Lots of different options and considerations. But it's nice to have some and fabulous to have people wanting to support you. I think this journey, no matter how frustrating, has purpose and opportunity for growth which is often painful. We often learn more when you have to test yourself and find a new way to navigate uncertain times and places. Faith, prayers and trust ❤ Praying for both of you.

Praying for you and your husband. Specifically that Jesus would give you His perfect peace through the waiting and unknowns. My husband was unemployed for a time early in our marriage…it was the most faith stretching trial I had been through. A pastor told us sometimes it’s not the trial itself but the length of a trial. Keep asking Jesus for supernatural faith to trust in Him each day. You will come through this and He will be even more precious to you as you wait on His perfect plan for your next season of life. You are a light set on a hill, Kate! Keep shining bright for His glory! You are eternally loved!

Thanks for the update. I'm surprised at the Arizona company. That's very unprofessional. I always wanted to live near nature also. We live in a building we renovated in town. But a couple years ago we were able to purchase a cabin on a lake about 45 minutes away. In the summer we try to stay there every weekend we can. It's my happy place.
Oh, I love that! Your cabin on the lake sounds amazing. The building you renovated and now live in... when was it originally built? I always enjoy hearing the history of buildings xx
@@KateBenz The building was originally built in 1930. It was a 11,000 sq. ft. Horn instrument manufacturing plant. The town I live in was the Musical Instrument manufacturing capital of the United States. Now we are the RV capital of the United States.
