I m ex musician solo piano cruise ships. Just gorgeous. What a voice , what timing...brilliant. I miss those days when music was so real , so powerful.
Just loved this incredible man. The breadth and depth of his talents were astonishing. A one of in history. He has been my lifelong celebrity crush. 😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sammy Davis Jr. His song's are the theme of my entire life. His voice takes me home and to a much better place. I was young, I was lucky enough to see him live....What an experience... I listen to Sammy, to feel my heart, my memories. He was 1 in a million.
Leslie Watson Sammy was absolutely brilliant amazing talent. I'm reading his biography right now. The abuse, the hatred and discrimination he endured tears my heart to pieces. Like anyone else he wanted to be treated with dignity and respect. Leslie I will never understand how a person could hate someone they never met.
@@jeribuckner3481 I wish that part of people's thinking could change. It causes me great disappointment that all these year's later. People still have to fight for their place in our country. When can we find that place, can we ever respect each other as human beings? Discrimination is unexceptable. It hurts everyone. We need to grow as people. Except our differences and move on together.
@@lesliewatson8133 Leslie I like the lyrics to Michael Jackson's song "The Man In The Mirror" We all have to do our part...Each One teach One. Enjoy this holiday season.
@@jeribuckner3481 I loved Michael Jackson. We we're born the same year and about 10 day's apart. People wanted to believe that ugliness that was reported about him. I thought. I am a Virgo, we feel everything with our heart's first. The song's he sang. He to me was a soft soul with a huge heart. He was gone way too soon.. When your that famous, I could not begin to imagine the isolation he lived... Performer's get millions, overall I think the price is too high... Yes Man in the Mirror touched me deeply...
I’m ashamed to say I didn’t know too much about Sammy , I’m now discovering what an incredible singer he was . Passion , emotion & incredible vocals . I’m now a huge if belated fan of his .
Sammy’s comment on Matt’s height reminded me of when my dad randomly walked into my room and started talking about Monro, he mentioned that he was a kind person and was very short
What a great voice, love Sammy Davis since I was a little Kid (started with Candyman Song 😍) Rest in Peace wonderful Mr. Sammy Davis Jr. we will never forget you 🙏🥀
The composer is Udo Jürgens, the German version is "Illusionen" and was written for the German singer Alexandra, who died 1969. English lyrics are written by Don Black.
For years I thought that Paul Anka wrote "My way", till I found the original frech version. :D Thank goodness that Udo Jürgens is remembered for many other songs as well, so no harm done. :D
Written by the Austrian Singer Udo Jürgens. First offered to Frank Sinatra who turned it down. Big hit for Matt Monro and one of the greatest hits in Japan.
Shirley Bassey version totally awesome remember her doing often in 70's concerts, love this Sammy Davis version they each make Matt Monro classic their own, great song...
No other singer can hold a candle to Sammy. What a perfect song for what he was put through in his life. We not only know his name we still love him and his voice. He deserved so much more respect from the entertainment world and his so called friends. He is a truly the greatest singer of all time Just listen to the smoothness and power of his voice and try to find someone else who can up him, you can't. Phenomenal singer, entertainer, actor and all around person.
I find myself coming back to video again and again. Sammy is one of my favourite singers. A singers singer. From the soul every time. Thanks for sharing x
You Tube is amazing. Every time I think I've seen all the Sammy stuff I see something I've never seen or even heard before. Sammy gave it all from the very beginning to the end. He should almost have his own holiday because he definitely broke the barriers for so many to follow in his foot steps. You ever notice how he always acknowledges his band or orchestra members or fellow artist who provided him with the songs he sings? He never took anything for granted and appreciated all the love his fans gave him. Hell, we still give him love as you can tell by all the comments. He entertained for the sake of bringing people together and not so much the money. Sure he used his money to live an extraordinary lifestyle but, gave so much of it back to those who needed. Todays artists, not so much the same characters.
Christ Almighty he's absolutely murdered this song here, the timing is everywhere but where it should be. I love Sammys stuff but no one can touch Matt Monro's version, it's sublime.
Very nice song, & very bests singers who sung this song... when i heared them all, i finally concluded that this would be my retirement song also-even though i'm not a singer at all...😢❤😂
In my heyday, young girls wrote to me Everybody seemed to have time to devote to me Everyone I saw all swore they knew me Once upon a song Main attraction, couldn't buy a seat The celebrity, celebrities were dying to meet I've had every accolade bestowed on me And so you see If I never sing another song It shouldn't bother me I've had my share of fame You know my name If I never sing another song Or take another bow I would get by But I'm not sure how Always posing, but you love it all Though you have to learn to act like you're above it all Everything I did, the world applauded Once upon a star Framed citations, hung on every wall Got a scrapbook full of quotes I can't recall at all There were times I felt the world belonged to me And so you see If I never sing another song It shouldn't bother me I've had my share of fame You know my name If I never sing another song Or take another bow I would get by But I'm not sure how La-la-la-la-la-la-la, la-la La-la-la-la-la, la-la La-la-la-la, la-la La-la-la-la La-la-la-la-la-la-la, la-la
One of the best interpretations of "If I Never Sing Another Song." Sammy just carries you away with his soaring, full-of-hope, chorus part of the song and I love his despondently Hebraic conclusion. I posted Englebert Humperdinck performing it about a month ago, enjoy: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9GR16WEXf4g.html
Compared with Matt Monroe, Sammy David Jr. is more passionate and has more showmanship and loud orchestra background music in presenting the song. Matt is like softly telling you the life time story of a singer from climax to the point he’s not singing songs anymore.
I must admit that although his interpration is very good, nobody has Mat Monro's beautiful voice. Monro's slightly harshness of his vocal chords makes the song sound more manly and I wouldn't expect it to be sung by a woman.
