new to this channel... maybe in the later videos he's got a bigger understanding of rap, but at the end of the day you cant blame a guy for not understanding the culture if he has probably only seen rap from the outside, he's relied on his society and peers around him to teach him what rap is (basically the typical view of it being guys barking nonsense on the mic) so perhaps at first it was hard for him to take it seriously. Obviously if he reads this, I am only just assuming these things. He definitely does not have any malicious intentions, but with each vid he's opening up. But at least I have to respect his honesty ..other channels just suck up to the music too easily.

The dude has made a reaction video trying to give an idea a chance. I applaud that he put himself out there. Well done that sir that you were so willing to not merely give so different a genre than the music you love, but that you were willing to put it out there (uneducated) and let folk see you giving it a chance. That’s a beautiful thing.

Mohammad Abdali Honestly, I think it's Nas writing style that goes over their heads. Nas doesn't write like a typical lyrical rapper. compare him to someone like Eminem, his writings are very clear and concise and paint a very vivid picture of whatever he's talking about and flows from concept into the next very fluidly like a traditional writer while Nas writings is far more poetic in nature. it honestly took me awhile to get into his style of writing because I was so used to rappers who wrote similar to Eminems style. when I checked out Nas old songs, his lyrical format, topics, rhyme schemes really threw me off because they were so different from traditional underground lyricism. I honestly didn't like it at first and often times wondered what the fuck nas was talking about. I also noticed his rhyme schemes seemed far less intricate than people like eminem so I used to put him off as someone people overrated but now I get it and his style has grown on me tremendously. But I understand why they don't understand anything he's talking about,. if you are not used to this style of lyricism, the lyrics are not going to make much sense. I'm black and grew up in the same type of neighborhoods as nas and even I could not get into nas lyrics due to the format at the time.
@xanderduffy6461

I would say Lauryn Hill on her own is better than Nas. She can sing, and when i say she can sing, in her hayday, she was on Whitney and Mariah level as far as technical capacities go, except way more subtle than both, yet what she sang outshines both, and that honeyroast vibrato - its just lovely. And then her rapping. Again, her lyrics are deeper than anyone elses, and her message was not merely a flow of great words, but often a hard hitting, in your face sermon. Demanding folks do better, but encouraging them also to believe they could do better. Thats true artistry. I get Nas was more introverted into the experience facing his people - but Lauryns lyrics were far more universal. She sung from her experience for her people, but her word choice amd delivery bypassed every cultural divide. They are both great in their own right. But Lauryns Miseducation will probably still stand in a couple of hundred years time, both for its production, for the musical instrumentation, and for tge arrsy of different harmonies, whereas musically, you hear the dated sound of the music already in If I ruled the world. Its a great track, but the ibstrumentation dors sound dated. Its not got the timeless sound of live real instruments. Just my opinion.

The concept of the story is very simple....what Nas would do, if he had control of the world lol. AT THE TIME, at least. You probably missed a lot because of the slanguistics lol. Keep this in mind though....Nas was only about 17-19 when he wrote this album. Very intelligent kid at the time. Its sad how he did that at that age, but these rappers today, can't even speak clearly at 30 years old.

You guys are awesome. Even though dude got less insight, I love the fact that he still has insight at all and still does try to see it your way in different theory. Unlike other reaction pairs on RU-vid, one with less insight is usually cocky and it just never works watching them. But you guys are like Bread and butter. I clearly came in real late with this video and I am watching all your reactions and clearly your dude has come a long way, and now on current videos of yours, you both are now on the same page. That's why I know the both of you are genuine youtubers. When your used to only one genre, you try to grow with another and it usually starts out rocky, and with patience you learn as you grow. I for one don't know what that's like not knowing another genre, I grew up on all genre's, *R&B/HIP-HOP, ALTERNATIVE GRUNGE, NU METAL, THRASH, SOUTHERN COUNTRY ROCK, METAL, POP, CELTIC, NEW AGE AMBIENT, and NEW WAVE. I guess you can say I grew up on music naturally open minded. Today RU-vid is now a platform for all to discover out their comfort zone like you guys are doing now. Aloha🌺

I think the difference is that Lennon’s lyrics are written in this straightforward accessible way while Nas has this amazing poetic vocabulary…. Take everyone from “Attica- send them to Africa” has more meaning when you know what attica is- that’s it’s a prison in ny state where famously the prisoners revolted against cruel and unfair treatment to stand up for their human rights.

I think he knows more then he explains. But he thinks he cannot include himself, because he did not share the experience of a Nas or a street dude. One might say that he may even feel threatned by the reality within Nas imagination. More like when I rule the world instead of if. Listen to hip hop aka rap as a concerned love one, not as a distant stranger. It is the only form of music that includes all genres of music. And it's lyrics are universal.

Nas is a genius as far as raps and lyrics go. If you're not in that mindset then you're just not in tune to what he's putting forward. You don't appreciate what he's saying as much as others. All it takes is one listen, being able to process what he's saying as he's saying it. Don't compare it to anything else because it's unparallel, unique. This song is a classic, if you can't appreciate it for what it is then... Metal out and rock on.

You guys need to listen to someone that is lyrical yet has substance. Which will provide you content that you could either agree or disagree with their message. Or give a try. So I submit immortal technique "dance with the devil". Now that is not my favorite song of his but it's super dark and it's a good song for you to get Introduced to him through. He is an amazing hip hop artist. But if you are going to listen to another song from Nas, I suggest "what goes around". That song has substance but he says the n word too much in it, but really good aside from that.
