Today, we'll dream a bit, imagining that some kindly billionaire has lent me his credit card, and I'll talk about the gear I would pick up if money simply wasn't a factor.
YT: "These youtubers have new video's out about the things you are interested in!" Me: "I don't care." YT:" Nick Shabazz uploaded a video abou--" Me:"PULL THAT UP, JAMIE!"
I was curious about how much this would all cost total, so I did some math: Because prices weren't given for any of the knives, some estimation is needed. I figure it's better to shoot over than under so I decided to estimate the not-my-credit-card Arius as $1000 to account for any custom work, the Tim Zowada fixed blade as $20,000 for the process of tracking down and purchasing it, a Tim Zowada straight razor as $3000 to account for fancypants price inflation, Frunky's Scout and Sid's Pi Norseman as $50,000 each ($50,000 cash is hard to say no to), more Protech customs as $5000 to account for purchasing several, a Begg custom as $3000, a Stan Wilson NFF as $10,000 in case of overly fancy versions or a price gouging jackass, and more hand-carved Olamics as $10,000 to again account for multiple purchases, a Michael Walker custom as $21,995 (the highest price for any of his pieces I could readily find), and recurring production purchases as $250,000 since this is hard to predict and that's a dumb enough number I can't imagine that ever being an underestimate. The subtotal for just knives is $155,995 without the recurring shipment estimation, and $405,995 with. I guess the reason no billionaire I know of is into knives is because they're too affordable to serve as status symbols, just tools for unwashed plebians. For the watches, my job is much easier because of the provided prices, so the subtotal for priced watches is $1,297,320. I have no idea how to estimate the Citizen 0100 movement prototype so let's say for the sake of argument it's $50,000, given Citizen's a production brand and any hypothetical production pieces being under this is more likely than not. As for the Microsemi cesium clock, their pricing information is dependent on contacting them for a quote, which I ain't gonna do for a dumb RU-vid comment. The only solid price I could find was for a Rubidium-based, small-scale atomic clock at $1500. So let's say the Microsemi is $20,000 to again wildly overshoot to avoid the slightest possible overestimation. This brings the subtotal for all watches to $1,367,320. The total for everything, including my ridiculously-large blind estimations for the unpriced and damn-near-impossible-to-price wishlist items, is $1,773,315. Which means Nick needs to dream far, far bigger if he's shopping with a *billionaire's* credit card. There's approximately 2,000 billionaires on Earth right now and even if you got one with exactly a billion dollars, you've still only used 1.77% of their wealth, and they'll probably recuperate that within a month due to the exponential nature of wealth. If you get Jeff Bezos to be your sugar daddy, it'll be 0.0000104% of his wealth. With Bezos' credit card you'd still have enough money left over to fix Flint's water system, rebuild the entirety of Puerto Rico, and leave him with approximately $75 billion, which would still make him the 3rd richest in the world instead of 1st. So Nick, while you're absolutely a jackass, at least you have cheap taste!
Extremely enjoyable upload, Nick. I very much enjoy Dream List videos. I have a massive bookmark folder for knives that are far out of my range and yet I really like admiring expert craftsmanship. IF my financial situation were to one day drastically improve for some reason I have that list ready to go, because there is no way I'd ever remember them all at this point. I hope you do more of these, it was a blast to see what grabs your attention.
i feel like you would be a fan of the milgauss due the story behind its creation. and i would have guessed you would have leaned towards 2499 or 5970 but the 5168 is still a solid choice. btw, have you heard of mb&f?
Car = Pagani Hauyra, watch = Patak Phillipe Of some type, knives = Stan wilson advisor, Tod & Frank Fisher customs. Then 1 of EVERY Albion swords they make.
With how crazy those watches were getting towards the end I was just waiting to see a 1million dollar "watch", which would just be a live human being that'd tell you time and future xD
Wow, the Atmos is a cool piece. (I'd never buy one, but amazing all the same.) I recently found out that "wax motors" use more extreme thermal changes in many household appliances to control stuff like safety locks. Thermal expansion is insanely efficient at making huge amounts of force over a very small distance.
Very fun video! I would drive to the nearest Porsche dealer and make some commissioned salesman and my entire family VERY happy... Then Todd Begg would be my next call also.
Please do a video showing how to manually set a watch to be perfectly in sync with an atomic clock. I am having trouble getting my Timex T78751XY to match my atomic clock.
If Nick went shopping with a Billionaires credit card it would be empty in like 10 minutes and Blade HQ and other knife companies would have about a billion dollars
Nick, you need to pick up a Citizen Chronomaster. They're extremely accurate quartz watches that are solar powered and have beautiful finishing and awesome textured paper dials.
I'm a nut. Often I worry that I'm too big a nut. But it's always very life-affirming to me to come across a bigger nut than myself. If makes me feel OK; NORMAL! I'm glad you're alive, Shabazz.
I bought a Jaeger-LeCoultre at a local auction for 15 dollars. I had no idea what it was, gave to a family member for Christmas. The auction house thought it was broken and had no idea what it was.
Finally found out what it was when we googled how to make it work or have it repaired. I was sick to my stomach as soon as they started popping up on google.
I can’t comment on your dreams. My knife game would be vastly different cause I’m a fixed blade guy 1st and my fantasy but user knife maker is SpencerAplin. I have zero doubt he can produce a few hundred thou knife. Here’s my thing,a knife is set apart by steel and materials and how well the execution of combining them are met. Spencer is fluting his steel to complete theme builds. He does full bust handles. He carves into the butt. Uses rare materials and already does these things consistently at a price to move. Now if one needs to add jewelry to the handle to jack the price up and doll it all up it’s a turn off for me. I appreciate folders and honestly I see the appeal of high end collectors. I’m not all full of coin to be a collector and yes I have over 30 fixed blades and 80% are from full custom makers. I use them all until Spencer Aplin started making me knives. Yes they are built to work but are just too pretty and rare for me to want even a scratch or take that razor edge off. So I get it. I just don’t like all the extra flares of colors and jewelry put into the handles so maybe a knife of that amount even if I had the loot is pass. For example,I like the standard Norseman way more then one that’s on your list. Not knocking your dream,we’re just not seeing the same appeal. Great vid and thx for letting think what I’d do.
Wow...yea might need a millionaire. I certainly don’t have that kind of cashola. By the way where is a good place to go to buy on the secondary market, or used I guess. That might really work better for my millionaire credit card. I’m not sure where to look.
Oh that FP Journe watch is pretty, luckily I will never have an extra 79k... and if I did it would have already been spent on knives because I have a problem and don’t need two problems.
If every one of your subscribers (as of 2.7.21) donated $1.60 usd, we would be able to buy you the "milk way" watch. I know you as a sensible human would never ask such a thing, (and gifts of terrible knives is more important than anything of this world) but I would gladly donate 5 usd at most to assist you in getting a billionaire's watch. Boy oh boy are you deserving of this (*in your voice*) You've helped me and thousands of others find gems they use every day. You deserve the best nick. I know this video is old now, but if there's a community funding page for stuff like this, let me know. I'll only donate if you buy something absolutely ridiculous and something equivalent to the items on this list. (I would love to contribute to bills, but everyone contributing to something tangible that you love is what I'm in for.) Have an absolute wonderful day, and I hope someone with greater tech skills than I sets up a funding page that nick can only use for ridiculously priced things.
@@NickShabazz I'd love to send you an edge of mine !! If you'd like, email me - antespo10@gmail.com - Japanese Natural Stone Edges are very comfortable !!
Those of us who are into hot whorology know that the really expensive ones tend to keep almost annoyingly good track of time and lubrication is basically a non-issue...
Watches? I would never, never survive. In fact, I’ve never worn a watch...yea really. I guess I’ve never felt like I needed one. And it’s more fun just to bug people who have watches...they love the chance to use them.
Mmm billion.... all the knives... literally ALL of them... clothes, shoes... prolly a house.. and maybe a few cars.. my taste in cars is simple tho.. maybe a r35 and a GMC Canyon... thennnn travel the world and literally do and go wherever I want
Well I fear, if this would happen, things would change, in unexpected ways. As a newly minted member of the 1%, I suspect you'd be spending your new found wealth in very different ways than knives. Cali real estate? Stock market? Social causes? Too many unknowns. Still fun.
