Two things my sax teacher (!) drummed into me were, always practice with a metronome & don't just leave it in the same 4/4 rhythm at the same rate, change it around a bit. Try a bossa nova rhythm or a waltz. And remember, it's harder to play slow than fast, so slow down the tempo sometimes, don't just speed it up. The three things... Great video.

I've been playing, campfire acoustic strumming for around 40 years. Over the last years or so, I am now advancing my skills and learning electric, and focusing on Blues. This is amazing information, I am absolutely going to apply this to my practice. Thanks Eddie, you are amazing!

Saw this 3 months ago when I started. Didn't know any scales back then. After learning w RU-vid videos for 3 months, I purchased Eddie's Country Guitar Courses 2 weeks ago, thrilled about it. Chords, rhythms, scales all start to come together for me. Looking at this video again today by chance, and by luck. I will definitely practice now. Thank you!

Great tip, stumbled upon this just “noodling” and decided to try with pentatonic scales. Didn’t necessarily play whole scales, just picked out some of the notes. Threw in some bends, pull offs, hammer-ons. ✌🏼

Honestly think this might be one of the most impactful videos you've put up. It might seem like a small change to make but the results can be game changing, and not just for guitar players. This is important for any instrument you play and can take away the monotony that many feel in the early to mid stages of learning, when there is so much repetition trying to get things under your fingers. Great lesson clearly explained.

Eddie, I took 10 weeks to master the fretboard back in June of 2022. After 10 weeks I was amazed at how much I had learned in 10 short weeks. You're so right about needing to learn to play rythem! 7 months after playing my first pentatonic scale, I still find myself playing the scale and wishing I was playing more musically. This video has opened my eyes to what I was slowly discovering, don't play the scales straight through, mix it up, have fun hold notes and have rests, stop playing the scales and make music instead. THANKS!
@rajennaidoo7
@rajennaidoo7 3 года назад
Striking coincidence :I started playing triplets, 1/4, note, 16th notes whilst playing the scale. A lot of focus and discipline needed to maintain rhythmic structure. No pain, no gain. Thank you for validating my practice routine. PS : SWINGING 8ths in blues came naturally to me. It's the other rhythms that have me in a knot when soloing /lead.

That’s the secret, it also took me years to figure out, it’s very rear that I could find any RU-vid video that teaches guitar 🎸 that actually teaches you how to count the lick. IE Rhythm 🎵. And the proper use of counting and using the metronome to keep you right. If you can’t count a lick, how do you know it’s going to work with the rest of the band. To me Rhythm is the most important element in music. This aspect is strongly overlooked.

I have a pretty decent amount of knowledge when it comes to music. However, when I came across guitar I was pretty intimidated. In a couple weeks I start freshman year and I'm taking guitar class to hopefully gain more knowledge on the instrument. This rhythm thing may seem pretty small and insignificant, but it really helped me practice. Subscribed

Eddie, a little suggestion to make this lesson even more fun, interesting and a "teaching" moment. Why not sing as you go along. What I mean by sing is name each note as you play. You'll not only learn rhythm, you'll also learn where each note is on the upper frets. When I was studing classical guitar scales from a 300 page book. I was instructed to name each note.
