It’s kinda hard to believe there was ever a time when the prisoner’s theme didn’t exist. It just feels like it was always supposed to be there, but we just didn’t know it yet.
@@jbthekeeper2509 I remember seeing a reddit post before the DLC came out about a black sphere in front of the sun. Turned out to be some kind of bug with Dark Bramble's loading zones I think. The closest we got back then was dataminers finding bits and pieces of code related to the DLC that would eventually come out. Back then nobody knew what a "ghost" was or why an invisible planet was in the works.
This song made me want to play The Outer Wilds. I never really knew much of OW or paid attention to it when it came up, but this beautiful melody recreated in the soundfont of a game I love made me give it a chance. What an amazing choice that was because it was one of my favorite games I played last year and it, combined with the Echoes DLC, made OW be one of my favorite soundtracks of all time. I just wanted to thank you as who knows how much longer it would've been till I played this wonderful masterpiece without seeing this wonderful video.
Spoiler for Echoes of the Eye Fun fact: The Prisoner is named Kaepora in the game's files as a reference to Kaepora Gaebora, the owl in Ocarina of Time
Yeah, the creative director of outer wilds (and original creator), Alex beachum, was pretty heavily inspired by a lot of the Zelda games, including ocarina of time.
Good old Zelda game inspiration is why this game felt like a breath of fresh air in a seemingly dark gaming age. I miss it so much... I'll never forget it.
@@Crmsnktty After you collect all 120 stars in the game (before they all disappear), you can use the ship to fly to the top of the castle, which is where Yoshi is.
The fire SFX in the very beginning is a nice touch. Now I'm thinking that the scout should make Navi/Tatl noises. Hey! Listen! Watch out! YOU HAVE DESTROYED THE FABRIC OF SPACETIME. YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT.
I'm so happy that even on videos like these, people will still put spoiler warnings over their comments. I've been so infatuated with this game for almost 2 years now, but I still haven't been able to play it cause it refuses to come out on switch, even though they announced it for switch back in 2020 😔
Don't look up anything, not even the OST! I myself was exposed to small DLC spoilers after looking up OSTs after completing the main game. Try to go in as blind as possible!
i waited so long too, eventually i got frustrated and bought a ps4 to play it, best choice of my life ever, otherwise i would have still been waiting today. and honestly i dont think it will ever come out, its live physics engine is far too ambitious for the switch, and even the ps4 has a few issues here and there...
This is .. Criminally underrated. Amazing job with this, I've never even played OOT and this reminds me of it, while still definitely being Outer Wilds
Me and a friend talked about which was better:OOC music or outer wilds music. Ended in a stalemate. Might as well make it even more of a stale mate lol
I had my first playthrough of Outer Wilds in January, and I completed the game along with Echoes of the Eye. When I listened to this song for the first time, I teared up. Almost 2 months later, I'm still tearing up listening to this song. Beautifully done.
gonna tell you right now, it's been almost 3 years since the game came out I beat it that same year....this song still lives in my head as the soundtrack to adventure
@@PoeticFox This song is just iconic. To me, it doesn't symbolize adventure, but rather an ending. An ending that is going to happen no matter what, but it isn't scary because you have your friends alongside you to see it through. Everything ends. And that's okay because once something ends, it leads to the possibility of something new.
@@EMLtheViewer Well, there's nowhere near enough processing power to run any of the physics stuff, so you would really have to make a whole new game that vaguely follows the same ideas. It might be more feasible to just downgrade the graphics to N64 level and not have it playable on an actual N64.
@@Christopher-md7tf The physics could be reduced by things such as putting the planets and other bodies on fixed paths instead of being constantly simulated
thank u. i was going to release them, but then i started working on some 3d models to make a video for this song, which didn't work out. so i guess i'll be releasing them sometime this week.
@@epiceaston197 thank you for noticing that, and no, i can't upload them anywhere else. i don't own the song nor the audio files used for the instruments. anyway, here's a playlist with all the tracks, you can download them using a website: ru-vid.com/group/PLOiBgPP6EpA5MAqIWcJ7yd_0KDzga_4WF
