I love how he doesn't even sound mad or disappointed at Aranessa specifically, but at CA for all their weird and poorly thought out choices that have made her the way she is now.

preach it! playing Arenessa was some of the worst experiences i've had in total war warhammer specifically because she wasn't undead and because she has the second most meaningless trait next to harkon's -100 relations with the vampire coast mutineers, a faction he can under no circumstance, make peace with, it would be like if karl franz had a relaton penelty with the empire secessionists

I showed this to a friend of mine and he said, quote; "oh come on. Bullying Vampire Coast is like drop kicking a child."

I’d probably actually say Settra’s bonuses to Alliance points with other Tomb Kings is the worst faction trait in the game because every other tomb King faction gets wiped almost immediately or is on the other side of the planet: Numas (Wiped by Settra himself), Dune Kingdoms, (wiped by Manfred), Rakath Dynasty (wiped by Volkmar), Sentinels (never expands and has a decent chance of just automatically going to war with you in the Black Pyramid crisis), Followers of Nagash (hate you), Khatep (on the other side of the world and if he survived into the late game he’s likely in an alliance with someone you’re at war with). So you just have Khalida (who I’ve seen wiped before turn 20)

She does feel the most piratey of the pirate factions. Those bonuses to sacking and raiding are really useful and thematic when traveling around on land.

To be fair, if she had regen, after this burn she'd turn into one of those flaming Forest Spirits from RoR

To be fair the Sartosa overhaul made her campaign really fun and interesting

I 100% agree Aranessa needs an overhaul, but I still enjoy playing her, she's kind of the only one that can really get away with playing more conventional take and build settlements Total War for a while, then she sets off for the high seas and hopes no one crosses the entire effin planet to sack her villages instead of fighting for their home turf. So of course they do exactly that. Seriously WHY is Zhao Ming so angry at me, doesn't he have a Skaven problem to deal with?

TO. BE. FAIR. (Thank you for showing the mod at the end of the clip) There's a FANTASTIC sartosa overhaul mod on the workshop that makes her able to recruit all sorts of live units, from sartosan riflemen, bombers, cannoneers, dwarf buccaneers and living Prometheans etc. You can still recruit zombie units and zombie lords, but you also get human equivalents (and 4 purchasable living lords, plus a 5th from a quest battle). Actually makes her really fun, you feel like pirates - most of the tech tree is revamped to focus on sartosan units not zombies, and all the new lords and heroes have not just new skill tree options but some entirely new skills that make them feel like tricksy swashbucklers. I'd really really reccomend it, it's my favourite way to play VC now (because go figure, modders gave her the love TW couldn't)

Honestly, having her be a norscan faction with pirate mechanics might've been hella interesting... Shame they flogged her the way they did. X_X

Now I'm wondering what would happen if the advisor was honest with a really *good* faction. "I'll be honest, you seems like you don't actually need an advisor. I've only been talking to you for about two minutes and you've already confederated half the map while actively laying siege to the other half."

For some reason I actually kinda enjoy playing Aranessa. Saying that I have to say she feels like one of the most poorly thought out/overlooked factions there is. Especially after the love the Beastmen and Greenskins got. I guess I like the idea of a mortal-undead-hybrid faction-thing. Just a shame the potential was wasted

I think the Ogre Meneaters she seems ablet to recruit should get the Sartosan Units buff So that skill could actually work... Or maybe giving her some god dam living pirates anyway...

I'm trying the mod. I wouldn have preferred a "vampire corruption" that work like the skaven one, that you need to control and not simply push to max (but the mod author said it's hard to mod) Anyway it's interesting the mix of ogres, humans, dwarfs, in pirate style with also undead units. I also suggest to add the submod that add elves gunners only for the lol.

When you consider her lore, hating Norsca makes perfect sense. Her dad literally threw her off a cliff as a baby.

Ogres, Green skins, high elfs all live in Sartosa. Yet the only unit she got was some crappy infantry. Really hope if dogs of war happens she gets an overhaul. Heck just give her straight access to man eaters

Aranessa would never fight for Norsca, even though she was born there. She hates them with a passion. Also, the Swordfysh had it's name before she joined the crew and her legs are made from sawfish.

Sfo and the overhaul mod you listed make her faction rather fun

tbf norsca being her main enemy does make sense . her father is High King Ulfric Grondal of Bjornings and was made a outcast due to her mutation and gender

It's a shame too, since I like playing Vampire Coast (in Warhammer 2 since I can't play 3). My favorite among them being Count Noctilus for obvious reasons. I just wish CA would give her some more loving and make her actually function.

Can we also mention how disappointing their settlements are? They are just vampire counts towns with ports. If not for the ships in the background I would never guess it was a Vampier Coast settlement. I guess CA forget that outside of Count Noctilus, there are 3 other legendary lords

So basically it's just a Lady for simps. People don't play for any bonus, people play with her because she's a pirate woman and nothing else... At least Morathi has the best slave income, at least Alarielle has the sword of khaine very close...

Arenessa is my favorite legendary lord purely on the merit of her lore being cool as hell. Shame CA didn't read it.

I have nearly 2000 hours between all three warhammer games and i have never, literally ever, seen anyone play her

Should have been a full Dreadfleet, Vangeist instead of Aranessa. Empire gets Roth as a lord, Aranessa a hero. Skaven, Tomb Kings, High Elves and Dwarfs all get a new Dreadfleet lord.

I’m glad CA got all the Chaos stuff done with, because the Humans, Dwarfs, and maybe the Ogres all need an update from WarHammer 1 and 2. For the pirate lady, my best bet if your going full lazy is to just give her more living units while limiting the amount of Vampire Coast units she can have. Essentially have her be the extreme “Little bit of everything” faction where it averages out to have about tier 3 units and below for each faction that can be negotiated with, like having a free military outpost without the military alliance.

She was done so dirty.
