That is a very interesting thing to think about. I am not from the US, I am from a small town in Slovakia (more specifically, in the Eastern part) where I was born and have been living almost my whole life. I think I would go with one of the bird species that lives here because they are quite plentiful in my area, such as house sparrows, Eurasian blue tits, magpies, thrushes/blackbirds, ...
@searchingforusername9393 Sans and Papyrus just both have the names of fonts haha. Sans for “Comic Sans” and Papyrus for “Papyrus”. And they also use those fonts for their dialogue. If the sprites are based off of them I’m unsure?? But I wouldn’t be surprised
New York rat should be named Tony. Because if you picture the most hackneyed stereotype of a New Yorker you can conjure in your imagination, they're probably saying "'Ey, Tony!" in an Italian accent.
"They have a pretty great CostCo there..." That kind of sums up living in any city/town in Idaho outside the capitol (which I saw an advert for boasting their Best Buy).🙄
Ive seen a few towns with mascots!! Specifically, Tryon NC has a mascot called Morris the Horse, bc it's in an area with lots of equestrians. Morris is on all the postcards/trinkets in local giftshops, in parades, etc. Also Hendersonville NC has bear statues all around. On almost every street corner in downtown, there's a different painted bear statue. And Brevard is famous for its white squirrels, so they're on all the town branding and there are several shops in town that are themed around white squirrels. These are just 3 towns in a very small area, im sure they're alllll over the country.
It’s cool that you lived next to Lewiston cause sometimes I go there for shopping! You’re totally right though, it’s stinks so bad (not as bad as Tillamook OR though, that place is rank)
Coyote - Star, Deer skunk thing - Poki, Rat - Liberty, Orca -John. Do I have any reasons, no its just the first things that came to mind when i look at them
please do enterprise, alabama! they basically have a mascot already based on all of the weevil statues around the town themed after all the different buildings, but maybe you could make one specifically for the town.
I love the way that you made the characters look slightly more playful, while still showing the bad things about specific cities. I feel like it would be fun if you did this again for other cities, like my home town, cave junction, origin, or Orlando, Florida
I'd love if you could do Duluth or Minneapolis/St. Paul!!! They're cities in Minnesota, Minneapolis and St. Paul are known as the Twin Cities as they're right next to each other and Duluth is a beautiful beautiful city on Lake Superior. Minnesota isn't really talked about much and I love it here and I just wish it would get more recognition lol
I am from idaho and lemme tell you that a lot of cities are near factories, in the valley near the capital there is a sugar beet factory and the cheese factory, there is also a factory out in payette so it's not the only stinky idahoan city I promise you.
I gave it my best shot on the names. Hope yall like them 🤍 1. Alahmoot (a native Nez Perce name) 2. Kylee/Kiley (similar to wiley coyote + kylie jenner) 3. Henri (pigeon from An American Tail = mice + NY) 4. Octa (reminds me of Orca and an octave in music)
Name idea for the coyote: Caye or Calle(both pronounced the same way with the Y sound instead of L), sounding kind of like coyote while also meaning “street” or “road” in Spanish. With the spelling Calle, it could also be pronounced in a way that sounds like Cali, short for California
I think louie for lusiton really fits lol (the first one) and for LA I thing Ange is so perfect or Callie. I like the name wingnut for the New York one!
If you ever do one for Hawai’i, please don’t do the Shark, I would recommend the Alala, I’iwi or the Kauai O’o. The first two are native birds that are endangered and the Kauai O’o is sadly extinct (luckily we have the last recording of its voice on RU-vid but it’s so sad). Also all three birds are really pretty (especially the I’iwi).
As a gal who used to live in Idaho, INSTANTLY CLICKED WHEN I SAW THAT THUMBNAIL- Finally, recognition for the place I'm from bro! Oh my GOSH- Not from Lewiston, I don't know where in Idaho that is, but like- FINALLY IDAHO RECOGNITION!
This is so cool! I always get excited to see your videos! Just wondering, are you still considering doing the other three chess piece character designs?
1. Lewis 2.Angel 3.Liberty 4.Linnaeus (fun fact:The scientific name for the killer whale, Orcinus orca, was given by the Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus in the 18th century)
Linnaeus isn’t just the one who gave scientific names to lots of animals (including the orca), he’s literally the one who made binomial nomenclature, like, a thing, which is pretty cool. Naming orcas is also cool, though
as a houston native born and raised i would love to see a houston mascot. we’re the fourth largest city in the states and never get to be destroyed in disaster movies, but a lavendertown mascot would soothe the woe of being forgotten by hollywood
I literally came here to say this! The loon that is now our seal should be our mascot! They could be combined with perhaps our state fossil? The ancient beaver! We also have a state muffin, drink, tree, and flower to pull from. The River, our lakes, wild rice, the North Star and lumber jacks/paul Bunyan could be icons to pull from too! The black, white, red and yellow medicine wheel would be a way to incorporate indigenous cultures too (as would wild rice specifically for ojibwe culture).
I love your Seattle Orca! I’m German so I don’t know sh*t about American cities, but I am a huge fan of iZombie which takes place in Seattle so I love learning about it :D ❤
Cincinnati OH actually has a mascot- the flying pig!! There were big art projects to decorate them around the city/businesses, I’d love to see your take on it!
Oh my gosh i have lived in Seattle for my whole life and I think the way you portrayed this city via the orca mascot is really amazing ! :D I love how NITW reminiscent they are and that’s super awesome !
OMG the little bagel ears for New York I caaaaaan't... Completely accurate, although the NYC rats are a little more menacing than you make them out to be lol! All these designs are so cute, it'd be great to see more in the future! Maybe Boston or Detroit or something would be cool. The only name I can think of right now is Eugene for NYC, I don't know why it just seems like it fits ;p
Same :,)!!! even though I live across the bridge in Clarkston rn, I was born in Lewiston and I was so shocked she brought it up I had to do a double take lmao 😭
my favorite youtuber knows about my hometown- I've never really known someone outside of the LC valley that has been to Lewiston, thank you for making us a mascot! i think they're adorable! To cover the papermill stuff, you get used to it after a while and its genuinely not to bad... though i've lived here for years so meh
What a great take on potential American yurukyara! I love how you went with a punk orca for Seattle ☺ P.S. Kumamon (the black bear in your thumbnail) is the mascot for Kumamoto. It's actually pretty far away and on a different island from Tokyo 🥲 I don't know if Tokyo has a yurukyara that represents the whole city, but they've got a few different ones for specific public services and such
If you decide to do this again I'd love to see more southern cities like New Orleans, Dallas, Orlando, Atlanta. These are the more well known ones but I think you could make really cool designs because there is so much culture especially in a place like New Orleans :D
(optional pronunciation, it’s just how I’d say it, I added last names as well because they’re fun.) Lewiston, Idaho: Lewi Daph (Loo-ee Daf) LA, California: Lo-Anga Cally. (Low-An-Ja, Call-ee) New York: Nelly Yuna (nell-ee, yoon-a) Seattle Washington: Sandy Washington. (Sand-ee, and I’m too lazy to spell the pronunciation for Washington.) My favorite is Lewiston Idaho, but that’s probably because I’m super biased towards deers.😅
