Sceptile gaining the dragon type when Mega evolving is one of the coolest ideas thrown to this tree gecko. It unlocked its hidden potential and become a speedy draconic menace, and the design is so damn cool. Now if it could actually learn Draco Meteor, it’d be so over for anything that dared to stand in its way
Imagine if Radical Red Mega Sceptile was in the normal games. (For those who don't know Radical Red Sceptile gets technician and has its attack and sp attack swapped).
@@VegeTaleNO1 basically with Sceptile's big physical movepool it can use its low power moves like bullet seed, dual chop, scale shot, aerial ace, and power up punch being the most notable. Mega stones work the same way. Lightning rod is kinda pointless for sceptile besides it not being able to get paralyzed by t-wave since it just gives it an electric immunity which it doesn't need since it quad resists electric.
I’m still kinda bothered that Sceptile has more Physical attacks than of Special attacks, and it’s physical Attack stat is lower than its Special attack stat, it would’ve been cool if they buffed it’s Physical attack stat raising it and have it equal to its special attack, and have both attack stats balanced lol
Including but not limited to: Swords Dance Rock Slide Earthquake Drain Punch Crunch Thunder Punch Acrobatics Dragon Dance Scale Shot And what does the special movepool have besides STABs?: Focus Miss Hidden Power (whiling that lasted)
Moves are one thing, but even with that typing being a thing, Sceptile's held by back its movepool and its ability in its Mega. In what way does a Mega that's quad-resistant to Electric benefit from taking electric attacks most of the time? I've seen some folks suggest teams that do work with it, but they're either not worth much or incredibly gimmicky even for Doubles. Blaziken got to keep Speed Boost and you gave Swampert fucking Swift Swim, give my boy Sceptile some love! Lol

Man it was so sad how badly they done Sceptile dirty. Here's to hoping Legends Z rework some Megas to be better, esp with the current gen of meta picks being as strong as they are.

Give if Vacuum Wave and Earth Power and it's gotten so much better. Sceptiles weakness has been its move pool is more suited to physical attackers than special attackers. Leaf storm/energy ball Dragon Pulse Vacuum Wave/Focus Blast Earth Power Is a great move set that hits dang near everything hard.
Mega Sceptile was very difficult to use for 4 reasons: 1 the x4 to ice is really bad, especially for Ice Shard. 2 Poor special moveset. 3 Steel Types stop it easily. 4 Talonflame.
@flameconvoy7424 they did sceptile dirty in general when they made sceptile. That starter got the short end of the stick. Swampert being the attacker and blaziken had to have higher physical attack (cause Blaziken is fighting), but what really rubs me the wrong way is that blaziken has both higher attack and special attack. And sceptile has that speed only (and the defenses barely compared to blaziken).
I think equalizing the mega's atk stats at like 125 would make it better, as things like solar blade, leaf blade, etc. would actually be more useful then. Love this starter and its mega with all my heart anyways tho
They really did my boy dirty with the mega, the ability lightning rod is so out of place since it's already stupid to hit it with electric moves since it quad resists it, I truly hope he gets the buff he deserves in legends z
This is partially explained by Leaf Blade being a special move in Gen 3 as the lack of phys/spec split means all grass moves are special. They never changed his stats to make it so that leaf blade was still the better move for it sadly.
Mega Sceptile is so weird Great physical movepool and boosting move, but not great attack stat High special attack but lack boosting move and special moves

This mega is heavily great but it's typing is what is holding back. Most of the what if moves it should have by now and everyone want it to have drop a Draco with it along with generation two sheep mega evolution.
I always felt it was its stats/move pool. They're kinda opposed to one another. Grass/dragon is great offensively and can hit a lot of stuff hard. It's coverage is nonexistent though on the special side and its why most gens after 3, it used physical sets with swords dance. My best success was a mixed set that used leaf storm and dragon pulse with rock slide and drain punch for coverage since mega sceptile has good physical power if its hitting super effectively.
Yes, that is factual but common ice moves and talumflame is makes it falter. Ice shard is what comes to mind can fully instantly take him down from mamo / weavile especially with stealth rocks / Hazzard on the board.
@@Evixyn vacuum wave as priority helps a ton with ice shard. If they switch for the ice shard you get to do a ton of damage as they switch in with your main grass/dragon stab and use a priority move that can finish them off, which since 99% of ice shard users are ice type you'd be super effective against them. Switching a baxcalibur for instance would be dragon pulsed and if it survived vacuum wave to ko with mega sceptiles raw stats. If you get caught in a bad situation you just run away. You need to go out of your way to out speed this guy in most cases and vacuum wave is the best priority for it to have
@chainlinkwarden it also has upper hand with +3 priority to damage and flinch pokemons And it only works if the opponent is about to use a priority move
Yeah Mega Sceptile kinda sucked. It got great stats, no complaints here, but those can't fix its special movepool or ability. Its ability is extremely situational, no one would purposefully use a electric type move against, which only makes it useful if you predict and come in on a electric type move, which still isn't that useful. Then the movepool. It got problems on both spectrums, but the physical movepool is still superior, they should have made it physical. Leaf Blade is worse than Leaf Storm, but Dragon Pulse is a lot worse than Outrage, though stronger than Dragon Claw. Focus Blast is very inaccurate whereas Earthquake is 100% accurate and can hit more Pokémon for super effective damage. It also has Swords Dance, but no Nasty Plot. If they made it physical and gave it a good ability, I think it would have been really good
