Like many of you watching this video, I have been a fan of explorer and expedition yachts long before they became fashionable.
I think when you have spent any considerable time at sea, in treacherous conditions, then you end up having a significant amount of respect for any vessel that is designed for long-distance, all-weather cruising.
Ever since Bering Yachts was founded in 2007, I have followed their progress.
So it was great to put together this video about what will be Bering's flagship model, the Bering 145 super explorer yacht!

I very much like the philosophy of yacht building at Bering. This 145 with its hybrid system is a fine example of this.

I've been watching a lot of these walkthroughs on different channels of not only Bering yachts but others that are coming out of Turkey and they seem to be cutting edge. High quality, high performance, at a reasonable price.

12000 nautical miles, that is absolutely amazing performance, that's a half lap across the entire Earth! The more i watch about Bering the more convinced i get that this is the vessel to get if you want the best for an affordable amount of money and wanna go and really explore. Now i just have to win the lottery and then give Alex a call an order one. Great channel and very informative, even if i wish the videos were even longer and more detailed. A big like and subscribing.

When it comes to interiors, I would love to see a fusion between the wood that Nordhavn does and the modern from Bering...call it a love child. While dreaming, I would like to see Bering create something that would compete with the Ocean King 130 for range.

I would say if you've got the means to own one of these the world really is your oyster. 12,000NM is about the distance from London to Sydney the LONG WAY around. Indeed save for places to dock and bridges to clear this vessel will take you anywhere on the navigable planet in 5 star comfort. A truly amazing ship unlike any other super yacht out there.

Without a doubt the most beautiful yachts on the market, hands down! Really overdue to put in a hybrid system for them for efficiency and range, full fuel and full electric isn't the answer for anything today, but the hybrid still has SO much untapped potential!

I've spent a good long while pouring over the specs and deck plans of this beautiful yacht. This for me is the penultimate dream yacht while not being the Giga yacht that can't effectively dock anywhere and requires a multibillion retirement to afford. It has a large jacuzzi equipped sun deck and sufficient space for any toys you would actually regularly use. It has no less than three interior lounge areas, depending on layout, permitting plenty of variety and seclusion if desired. A proper beach club is a nearly necessary perk for a yacht as is sufficient exercise gear to stay in shape. Its displacement permits the widest choice of captains. Its galley is a chef's dream. It has a large and very flexible crew appointment sufficient for any and all needs, which given that the quality of a crew is at least every bit as important as the quality of a yacht is a HUGE deal for me. Its cruise speed is actually high for this sort of yacht and its range makes it a genuine world cruiser. Being a hybrid makes it both more ecologically friendly than virtually all other yachts, it also makes it more fuel-efficient and therefore substantially cheaper to travel distances. Would that I had made better decisions in life. This sadly shall remain but a dream for another life. I am content to know that some few who have made better decisions will be able to enjoy this perfect marvel.

Unbelievable! I've always considered stuff like that for loose billionaires that splurge. Their ships are built for the lifestyle. Think about the amount of modestly successful people, almost upper middle class in a lot of places, who ties themselves up with a nice house in a inflated area, probably has a boat, RV and airplane. Still spending on commercial travel in a big way. Still land locked and nailed down the whole time and they never realized it. These boats from one size or another are totally game changers. Not hopping continents? No problem, get one that can run about intercostal waters. Wait, you can still use it for the other. They're totally amazing.

I can't get enough of Bearing yacht videos, they're truly special. However would incorporating twin jet-drives affect range or performance? As Alexei's all about safety, then surely this form of propulsion is a huge step in the direction of safety.

The longer versions of the Bering's are beautiful externally whereas the shorter ones look a bit boxy. I am somewhat less enthused about the internal finishing, though the layout is as good as I have seen. The square edges to the cabinetry and the thickness of the board lessen the impact to a certain extent.

What's your take on Bering vs Arksen (built in the UK by Wight Shipyard)?
@YachtBuoy
@YachtBuoy Год назад
I think that they both have unique qualities and characteristics that have equal appeal, depending on the owners cruising plans. For example, the Arksen 85 has a self-righting feature and incredibly shallow draft (1.5 metres). Her hull has been designed by Humphreys Yacht Design who are renown for building bluewater yachts. The 85 is also lighter and so burns less fuel. But the steel hull of the Bering will also appeal to many people too.

@@YachtBuoy Hi John, I'm a subscriber to your channel, and thank you for your prompt & incisive reply. You really do read the comments section as you promised in your videos. It's your videos on Arksen that introduced me to them. If ever I acquire one from them, it's all thanks to you, mate. And yes, I'm impressed with Arksen's MCA CAT 0 classification and their claimed self-righting capability. While I understand that Arken can build ice-class aluminium hulls, what's your further take on steel vs aluminium? I'm currently gathering my research in order to do a comprehensive head-to-head comparisons on various explorers so that in time, I can commit myself with confidence & due diligence. My ideal build will be a larger boat with an internal lift to aid elderly guests and also a submersible on board. May your channel grow along with your enthusiasm & content, mate. Perhaps you can consider doing in-depth head-to-head comparison videos on ocean-going explorers and submersibles with on-site videos as you gain more visibility with the builders.

Thanks Robin :-) Glad you enjoyed the Arksen video. I will always be thankful to them for being the first boat builder to allow me the opportunity to visit them and shoot my own footage. Keep me posted on your yacht-buying progress. I always love it when I read comments like this, written by viewers who are thinking about making a purchase. Re the Aluminium hull, from what I remember, Arksen have added a few millimetres of hull depth to compensate for cruising in the high latitudes. I think that if I was going to be spending a significant amount of time cruising in areas where ice-flows are a 'thing' then I might be tempted to go for steel. But, having said that, Arksen would be the best people to speak to as they know intimately the capabilities of their hull when it comes to cruising in those kind of waters. Put it this way; all of the warships I served on had aluminium hulls and we never had a problem in the five years I spent at sea. Including being hit by hurricane-force winds. You ideal build sounds fantastic in terms of I can just image the sort of explorer yacht you could get Thanks for your support - I would love to cover the sort of topics you mentioned. I just need yacht/submersible builders to make contact with me :-)

@@YachtBuoy The lead time will be long(er) as I'm just starting out on my research & due diligence, so I can have fruitful & informed discussions with various stakeholders. Then there's hiring of a good, experienced, capable, safe & steady Captain with a similar mindset who will oversee her build, launch & delivery so he will be intimately familiar with her capabilities and limitations. It's impossible for me to know everything, so I feel the input from an experienced Captain is essential. Then the wait for the actual build & delivery. Patience here will be a virtue.

Maybe you are right for the Caribbean, but in the North Sea and the Bering Sea, you require strong ships. Having spent many years in these waters the more robust the ship the safer I felt whether it was a Minesweeper or Destroyer. Safety at sea always.

I just really like rounded, golden wooden trims/over-stuffed chair comfy styling in big boats, gentleman's yacht styling touches. This squared off, bare 'metallic', modern, hotel-room sort of style just doesn't appeal to me. When I'm on a boat, I like it to look like I'm on a boat, not in a corporate board room of an office tower. It's much too sterile. But I'm not a multimillionaire, so what appeals to me simply doesn't matter.

I think this ship looks great overall however Somebody who’s been in the war ships military ships etc. all those are faster ships and that you are describing 20 to 40 kn easily to perform.. this hybrid 145 maximum Speed is unfortunately you stated only 15 Kn max. I think my opinion the ship is too slow!!! My recommendation with that much of house power I think they need to re-tune that engine to make a go at least 20 kn- plus that would give easy way out of beating any type of storms just in case!!!
