I live smack dab in the middle of the Appalachians... Born ,raised and lived there almost 80 years.. And yes there are things in those woods that have yet to be discovered, creepy things, monstrous things, evil things,,,, I have seen and experienced things that I cannot explain

I live about a hour from the Application Mountains in VA. It's a beautiful place, I always tell people what a old man I met on the trail one day. He said "Respect the mountain and the mountain will respect you.' There are things in those mountains that you won't find anywhere else. Not just folklore, a lot of unexplained happenings. You can get lost in a minute. Unusual animals and beings. And the beauty is neverending. My advice is don't hike the trail alone.

I'm from VA. also. I actually live pretty deep into the mountains and there are definitely feral, deformed people that live in these woods. The movie "Wrong Turn" isn't all that inaccurate. There's been people venture into certain areas and they were never seen again. Some game wardens know about the feral people in the woods and will make hikers, hunters and campers stay away from certain areas. They will make the excuse that it's private property, a gas well or something like that. All it takes is a five minute Google search to find out that it's not private property and there is no gas well. Of course I suppose they can't just come out and say "there's deformed, inbred cannibals that live upon that ridge, so you better stay away from there!" lol.

I live in the area of the Appalachians the story is set in. As a matter of fact, as I am writing this comment I am at work on my lunch break and am around 2 miles from Bumpus Cove. Yes, there is unexplained things I have seen over the passed 62 years. I plan on a little later setting up a youtube channel and share some of this tale. 😃

My friends and I used to go 4wheeling in bumps cove all the time. The California fields are beautiful. It's a very scenic drive. It's also a bear reserve

Word to the wise, if you're planning on hiking the AT always carry at least one firearm and a large fixed blade knife with you regardless of local regulations bc they may save your life one day! My friends and I have been hiking the AT for the past 25+ years. We usually go every couple years and for years they made fun of me bc I always refused to go hiking or camping without my pistols. That was until about 8 years ago when my "dumb overly prepared gung-ho ass" and my Glocks saved our lives somewhere around the Virginia Tennessee border. Since those 4 days and nights all 3 now concealed carry whenever they're out hiking or camping.

Live near there . Jonesborough Tennessee about 6 miles maybe. Watch that stop sign on the way out to enter Highway 81 it easy to miss experienced that 1st hand 1978 winter slide straight through it. Lucky no one in the way.

When I was a kid, I would have some of the most vivid dreams when my temperature would get high. I could tell you today what they were, where I i was and even the colors of the clothes, furniture, curtains or shoes in that dream. I had the same dream 4 times, the last time I was in my early 20s. I think you can have very vivid dreams and honestly feel as if you were there. I was also terribly afraid of the dark and saw things if the light went out. Little goblins. I swore they were there. Great imagination, scary childhood. You can see things awake or asleep that are real to you but not to the rest of the world, depending on your state of mind. Thanks for another great story.
