If there is one band that influenced my guitar playing it would be The Stones for definite. I first got into guitar when I was in my early/mid teens, I idolised Keith and his playing he was just the ideal Rock’n’Roll star and I wanted to play like him. And that I surly did! I spent hours perfecting his sound and style and I learned pretty much all of his guitar playing (by ear) from 64 - 81, my favourite tracks by included; Midnight Rambler, Little Queenie, Brown Sugar and pretty much all the Open G songs they were so fun to play! As I began to experiment with the guitar I found myself going back to all those old Stones records (especially the blues covers) and playing Brian’s slide parts, my favourite of which includes, I Can’t Be Satisfied, No Expectations and Little Red Rooster. Brian showed me a whole different side and sound of the guitar. However it was Mick T who was my biggest influence. His tight melodic playing is something that I always wanted to replicate in my own playing. I soon learned that I am no Mick T but I tried relentlessly to learn his work and after a very long line of blood sweat and tears I learned both his solos for the song Sway (one of my favourite Stones tracks), I felt like I completed the guitar in a sense. From then came, Sympathy For The Devil, Can’t You Hear Me Knocking, Shine A Light, Dead Flowers etc. Still to this day I am in utter awe of his beautiful guitar playing, it still blows my mind and I have anything to thank for his brilliance and his technique which taught me so much and developed me as a guitarist. Long live Mick T! The greatest guitarist the Stones ever had.

@@Justincelos Thanks for the reply dude. I’ve watched a variety of your Mick T guitar covers and I really do admire your work. I feel like you do justice to one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. My personal favourite is your cover of ‘Shine A Light’ you simply don’t miss a note and play so smoothly. Keep up the great work man! :)

For me, the best Stones theme in the 70's. Charlie in Disco style, Richards on bass and rhythm guitar and Taylor in one of his best works, reminding me a lot of Carlos Santana's style. And you caught it all perfectly.

Incredible what Mick Taylor actually played. You brought out Mick Taylor's guitar playing in every nuance. And you play as effortlessly and fluently like he did. I wish I could do that... May I ask how you get your sounds (you nail them as well)?
@Justincelos
@Justincelos 2 года назад
Thank you so much for your comments, Tzurby! I I used a Fender Bassman amp and a Sparkle Drive Mod pedal from Voodoo Labs (which is basically a Tube Screamer TS-808 with a few more features). I captured the sound with 2 microphones: a Shure SM-57 close to the speaker and an AKG P420 a little further away, to get a bit of the room. And for the low octave solo, I used a Nux Pitch Shifter.

Awesome! Quick question: did he tune way down for that part in the bridge?
@Justincelos
@Justincelos Год назад
Thanks a lot, Scott! Guitar tuning is standard. He used a device called “Synthi Hi-Fly”, which was one of the first guitar multi effects processor. One of those effects is called "sub octave". But you can use a normal octave pedal, or a pitch shifter set one octave lower to achieve this effect.

This is awesome! Thanks for recording it this way. What key is that lead guitar? Hard time figuring that out. The song seems to be in the key of G, but most lead guitar sounds like the key of D. Can you please tell me?
@Justincelos
@Justincelos 2 года назад
Thanks a lot, Otto, I'm glad you enjoyed my video! The initial solo (0:06) starts in D, and the lick at 0:53 is also in D. As for the main solo, it starts in G (1:56), but then it moves to D in 2:06. Hope this helps.

Cara, excelentes seus covers do Mick Taylor. Parabéns. Qual o modelo da sua Gibson? Standard, Traditional, Custom?
