Have no idea who Virna is, but her face embodies innocence, worldliness, enchantment, mystery, excitement.....a contradiction of sorts rolled into ONE. And to have the irreplaceable Helen Merrill sing, every word biting into your soul----don't get better than that !

I saw an older Virna Lisi in my flight back to Rome from London, still beautiful and striking.

I don't know who wrote the English version but several anglo-american great stars recorded the song including the fabulous Nina Simone. This version is very beautiful.
