My hair is both oily but gets dry. It's strange to describe. I will always wash my hair every 2 or 3 days. I can mitigate the dryness with products. I can't control the oil
Your hair comes from your scalp. If you don't moisturize your scalp then the hair it produces will be of a lower quality. That will make it more prone to breakage and frizz.
Recommendations for oily scalps: 1. Use shampoo with salicylic acid and leave it on the head for a few minutes before rinsing it off. 2. Do not use conditioner on your scalp. It’s only for your ends 3. Blowdry your hair so it has more volume. That makes it not get greasy as quickly. 4. Use dry shampoo or baby powder immediately after washing and drying your hair. It’s basically like powdering your face. It keeps the skin from getting oily too quickly.
i just do the exact method you said, using baby powder immediately after drying my hair. but i find out due to my scalp is basicly 7/24 powdered i really experienced some hair lost specially on the crown area. for keepint the hair from oily quick it works really well but i think its not good for the hair
Idk why I started doing this but instead of buying another shampoo just for “clarifying” I use my Micellar water on dry hair before washing and it detoxes my oily hair so we’ll!
Yeah I like the idea of getting a full wash so you can go longer without washing your hair, because you aren’t supposed to wash too frequently/every day. I actually don’t wash my hair for up to 2 days and wash it when i notice it getting oily/greasy. Using conditioner only on your hair ends work too!
I've tried everything!! From a good sulphate free shampoo to neutrogena anti residue, I've done apple cider vinegar, I've tried rosemary NOTHING helps me, the only thing left is the aoramtic rosemary shampoo
Also, the TYPE of shampoo. A lot of us get the ones that smell good or supposedly add volume, etc. When all us 1 weekers need is a clarifying shampoo & mid to tip conditioning.👍
Omg, using a clarifying shampoo every time you wash your hair sounds super drying. That’s not necessary. Just use a high quality salon shampoo and clarify as needed.
My daughter washing in sections and it’s still dull and greasy?! It’s only been like this for the last few months. I’m thinking it’s a lack of iron in her system?
Just flip your head upside down once and voila: no need for sectioning wet, tangled hair. (clarification: by flipping your head I mean just bend over and let your hair hang)
I find diluting the shampoo works - so I get a plastic nozzle bottle - pit purified water and some shampoo , shake it and use it , I use the solution 2 times as needed . It gives me a better more thorough cleanse and suds and also saves shampoo as well . I never reuse the solution , either I finish the solution or I throw it out . B/c water mixed with shampoo in a bottle can cause bacteria build up .
I have always done this! It does rend to use more shampoo though, i use a non-eczema one that doesn't really seem to fluff up 😢 top, middle-back, and then a teensy bit on the sides and up underneath the bottom. Works like a charm!
It is better to use sulfate free shampoo because sulfate strips away all of the oil from your scalp which leaves it really dry and possibly irritated. Stripping away all of the oil is very bad for your hair.

I do the same thing. I wash my hair 2 times a week, the first time I do 2 normal shampoos, the second time I use 1 normal shampoo and for the second I use the create acne cleansing gel with salicylic acid. I don't have very greasy hair, but I have very thin hair and the greasiness show up quickly, by doing this I have been able to wash my hair only two times per week instead of 3. It also exfoliates and cleans build up.
I have the same question haha, like, what are u doing then? If u dont use the shampoo in the entire scalp u just dont washing ur hair correctly and thats the reason its so greasy, i thought it was common sense.
You literally said what I was thinking, too!🤣Also, don’t you normally feel an itch indicating where to apply, or can’t you tell by the initial lack of suds?
I don't understand how anyone could make this mistake lol I have really long hair, I've always put shampoo on top the underneath then parted my hair and squirted a little in the middle. Then I just rub my fingers all around until it gets evenly distributed through my entire scalp....... I can just feel if I didn't get a spot because my scalp is so sensitive
I'll try this but it's very hard to seperate my hair like that. It's either brushing it all out to infinity or a tangled mess. If I brush it out before showering I still have this problem.. do you have any tips for that?
brush/comb your hair in the shower with conditioner still in your hair. i start at the ends then rinse my brush and brush from root to end. i have a really oily scalp but normal/dry ends. if i feel like there’s too much conditioner near my roots, i’ll section it again and squeeze each section root to end until i’m satisfied. my roots start getting too greasy and i need to wash my hair on like day 3 post wash. hope any of this helps!
There’s nothing wrong with sulphates. You need sulphates to properly cleanse the hair. Using sulphates every time you wash your hair can be unnecessary for some people but they are definitely necessary at least once a month as a general rule. A lack of sulphates will cause a build up of oils, dirt, sweat, hair products etc.
I dont have a shower so i do it over the bath with a jug, and i only shampoo my scalp, especially the front and back i try to get the middle but my hair is heavy fsr and it hurts?? Idk (i shampoo, conditioner and shampoo again) Also what is very weird when i wash my hair, even when washing it, its clearly we but its sooo dry like idk why but my bottoms are always dry and my top is greasy, i think ill need to get some oils for my bottom and get a new brush-- maybe a hair treatment thing im not sure how it works i don't usually mess with my hair ☠️☠️🙃
That’s why my mum thought me to take a lil bit of water and mix the right amount of shampoo in the water and pour the lathered liquid and wash it so it equally spread
I think white girls and black girls should get together to talk about hair techniques cos all these ‘revelations’ im seeing from white girls are literally the black hair playbook.
I’m Mexican and my mom taught me to wash and scrub my whole head. For some reason a lot of white people don’t know how to wash their hair and they wonder why it’s so greasy.
I actually was losing hair due to stress I think! I’ve since had a lot of regrowth and am sharing tips. If you don’t like my content you don’t have to watch
I wish I can do this dealing with hairloss ( caused by accutane) and then usual hairfall with damaged hair my hairs get tangles very easily so I can't dare to section my wet hair I wish my hairloss/hairfall situation get better so I can do whatever I want to do 🥲
