Welcome to today's ginger reacting to Jinjer session. If you haven't listened to Jinjer yet 1) let's change this right now and 2) this might be one of my favourite bands and my bias shows pretty clearly in this analysis of "Vortex" but I still promise that this song is a banger and you should probably show your immediate family and the neighbours kid... probably.

Ever since reacting to Jinjer "Pisces" for the first time I cannot get enough of this band. Way past jump scares or shock factor Tatiana's voice/showmanship is as impressive as the band's musicianship and songwriting chops. They're ridiculously good.
The members of Jinjer are from Ukraine and there's some pretty scary stuff happening there right now. This is not a political channel but please find below links to various charities and organisations who are assisting with the humanitarian efforts in the Ukraine for your use if this means of support is something you're interested in.

Tatiana's growls confuse everyone. Including vocal coaches who teach growling. And even her - she doesn't know what she does, she just does what works. Probably mostly false cord, but maybe some fry sometimes though too? But seriously until she has someone do endoscope video we'll never know for sure except that it sounds awesome. My theory is that she's using false cords but pinching the false cords together so she can control the airflow and do sustained phrases. She sacrifices the pure explosiveness of Angela's growls for more flexibility.
@Opranius

Fry for me is a very problematic term because it includes an extreamly wide range of sounds you can make from super compressed screams to screams that have a tone in it.

My personal observation about Jinjer…and the fact that Roman rarely, if ever, plays a traditional guitar solo…I feel like all three…Vlad, Roman and Eugene…are all simultaneously playing lead parts. That’s the magic of this band. LOVE this band so much!

After listening to this band over the past few months, I’ve realized that Jinjer is the Metal version of Queen. Like Freddie Mercury, Tatiana is such an amazing vocalist with crazy range to go along with her charisma and stage presence. However, as you listen to them more, the musicianship of Roman, Vlad, and Eugene comes out more and more to where you realize how every member adds to the band as a whole like how Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon did. As for the music itself, I was riding around with someone when “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”(My favorite Queen Song) came on the radio and they asked me who it was. After I told them, their response was that it didn’t sound like Queen to which I asked them”What does Queen sound like?” and listed a number of songs that run across a a spectrum of musical styles. The Jinjer songs I’ve become the biggest fan of fit that model. “Pisces”….”Bad Water”…”Words of Wisdom”….”Teacher, Teacher”….”Sit, Stay, Roll Over”….”Vortex”….”Who’s Gonna Be The One.” While I’m not a fan of “Judgment and Punishment”, it’s such an insanely well done song. While they’re labeled as Metalcore, they are so diverse and, like Queen was able to do a disco song with “Another One Bites The Dust”, it doesn’t sound forced or awkward.
@TysonGiffordME
@TysonGiffordME 2 года назад
also, like Bohemian Rhapsody, this song has no repeating parts, it just keeps moving forward
@1gregmoreira
@1gregmoreira 2 года назад
The only reason that they’re labeled as metal core is because metal fans are very particular about labels and this is what they decided to call them. All in all though… you’re on the money. They kind of do what they want and they do a great job of doing whatever they want

@@1gregmoreira I think what’s great with what you said is they can ultimately do anything. The fans will give it a chance and, at the very least, respect what they were going for. Like I said, “Judgment and Punishment” just doesn’t hit with me but all of the parts are really good and show how immensely talented the band is and their diversity. As someone just getting into them, I look forward to checking out more of their stuff and giving the songs I gave a half-assed listen to the first time around a second chance. With my comparison , I just hope they don’t have a song I hate like Queen did with “Body Language.”

I’ve just been getting into Jinjer and Epica after years of loving Nightwish, Evanescence, and Within Temptation, and WOW 😍😍😍 Tatiana’s growls surprised me so much the first time I heard it! She’s awesome! Thanks for another great reaction!!! Since you like a lot of this kind of music Id love to recommend that you check out Within Temptation one day! They’re a pioneer symphonic metal band that started the same year as Nightwish with their own outstanding female vocalist, Sharon den Adel. And unlike most of the lead singers in the genre, Sharon doesn’t have classical training. Her voice is absolutely angelic though, so clear and focused. And even though she sings in her lower register more on recent albums, she can still hit some incredible high notes.

You mentioned Tatiana's switches between cleans and growls. There are two videos in particular that show this : Perennial live at Wacken 2019; and one-take vocal recording of Judgement and Punishment. The latter is great for viewing her throat and jaw, and how she holds her shoulders during her performance because the camera is on her the entire time. The former shows what she can do in front of an audience, and it is a great performance.

The entire Wallflowers album is full of jaw droppers, but the song Home Back, from a previous album, is about the war that started in 2014 and rings true with the current war in Ukraine. Welcome back to the Jinjer Journey and hope to see more of them here! A Ginger doing Jinjer things.

*Yes, it’s true that our native city of Gorlovka with the Jinjer group has been under constant shelling by Ukrainian neo-Nazi bastards since 2014, and the total number of civilians killed by Ukrainian and Western bastards in the Donbass is already approaching 25 thousand people!* ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JQJpDM34uEU.html&ab_channel=Igman

Love this band. She is an amazing vocalist and one of my new pleasures whenever I listen to this band. I’d recommend reacting to audioslave like a stone or maybe the live version of Tool’s pushit on their live album salival. Both those songs are masterpieces in their own way.

Jinjer is one of the best bands to ever do it, ive been a fan of metal music most of my life since i was 12 or 13 atleast, and Jinjer came out of nowhere 5 or 6 years ago is when i first heard them, and its just grown from there, and then pisces blew up due to youtube reacters, and they deserver it, such great people, i hope this was ends soon so they can get back to making more music and touring. this band is so special, ive seen them 3 times live and they sound just as amazing live as in the studio.

Hey Julia, you are sooo much fun! Great to see you really rocking out to Jinjer, Tatiana is a bit like Floor, a one off cracked the mould. Incidentally have you heard Floor growl? I’ve only recently discovered Nightwish and Jinjer, what a revelation! I’ve been on a massive voyage of discovery, strange choice of listening for a 70 year old but hey, growing old is mandatory, growing up is not………. Edit: just looked and saw you watched Yours is an empty hope…… great reaction to that one 😂

I've just discovered your channel. I love your analysis of Jinjer and Tatiana and love how you enjoy them so much. I don't know if anyone's said in your comments already (I'm not trawling through them lol) but Jinjer have done a live show in Melbourne and that whole concert is on youtube. It's amazing. Also, go check out their song "Who Is Gonna Be The One" but the live version. At the end, they go into a bit of a reggae sound and Tatiana sounds even more amazing. Also "I Speak Astronomy" is another phenomenal song by them (tbh, most of their songs are). Keep up the great videos. Love from nz. Party on 🤘🤘 Side note, something was up with your recording. The sound came through really weird and echoey after you would pause and replay it sometimes and it also started super quiet.

I was supposed to see Jinjer for the 3rd time this past weekend (with Slipknot) but they obviously canceled all touring to support efforts in Ukraine. Amazing band, amazing people. Tatiana's vocals are out of this world but the entire band is so tight and talented individually as well. As others have mentioned, single take of judgment and punishment is a must for analysis.

Same. Saw them in Chicago and then had tickets for a side show in my town they were doing between Knottfest gigs. And then...

@@EricMcLuen love your icon, I'm waiting for my shirts to arrive. Ya, I saw them last with Suicide Silence - I'm in Canada and our covid regulations meant our venues had to be seated shows and no one could leave their seats. It was quite embarrassing for a metal show. Further, Vlad got covid too and was stuck in the U.S so they played to a drum track. They still rocked it though and I hope they make it back soon. I was excited for them to play knotfest for extra exposure as they deserve a wider audience. Corey from Slipknot paid tribute and said he'll bring them back after hopefully.

@@nickdoesnthaveyoutube missed ordering a.shirt. am not a 3x. I just copied the logo from the merch page after Insaw others had indicated not care for Suicide Silense. First saw them with Sumo Cyco in a place that held 500. Somehow replacing them with a band called Wage War seems odd.

"if you haven't listened to Jinjer yet... um... why?" can say same for Nemophila.. Japanese version of Jinjer only higher screams but as versatile and all female.. Once this newly formed supergroup take the stage @ Aftershock festival 2022, not only will they blow away the crowd, they will blow up internationally..

Love them and Hanabie both. Everyone stateside, if even interested in anything outside of computer-generated Pop these days, still name the tired old metal bands that are a few years shy of retirement community. Yes, I know Anthrax, Megadeth. Metallica, Slayer, Testament, all the hair metal bands, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, etc., etc. and have for several decades now. Fresh blood, please.

I like how Nemophila and Hanabie incoporate different styles of music into their sound. That Indian music feel on Nemophila's Hypnosis is great. And Hanabie can be a musical rollercoaster, basically. Changing up cutesy J pop elements, along with rap and tear your face off riffage from Matsuri. It's fun.

@@byerenny Nemophila are influenced by most those 80s metal bands then take it to another level adding other elements with there own style All the people who dismissed my comment and more so Nemophila until now will all change after they play at Aftershock festival.

You should also take a look at any song they performed at Melburn. It's a llive recording of the playlist they did there which then they released as an album called "Alive in Melburn". The production on the recording is perfect and you can really hear and feel how locked the band is on live performances. So I would suggest, for your next Jinjer song to first check if you can find it on that album and listen to it as a live performace 😉. Also , I would recomment "Wallflower" from their latest album, it's emotional, beautiful and powerfull, one of their best songs imo. Thank you for your reactions on this band, you are a sweetheart always 🥰

I've Ben listing and requesting for tubers to react for over a year. And just now watching your reaction,my eyes opens to the fact that the song it self is a progressive Vortex from really soft at beginning to just brutally heavy at end... With her free floating middle of the song just to get swirled back in. 😀
