@tristansmith8960 the reason being is that white thing is a robot humanity built, and lost the war to when the robots rebelled. Shooting them didn't work, it just pissed them off more. So to answer your question, it's there are no more guns because they were taken from humans when they lost to war against the machines. To answer the Op, yes it did survive a .50 cal barrage.
