I just bought a 2007 Honda Odyssey with 225K miles for $2100. This vehicle is the high-end with power, leather seats, split temp controls (R, L, front & back), entertainment system with DVD player in the back, and a towing bar attached in the back. It was hesitating while shifting, so I took it to a transmission specialist who drove it and then ran computer diagnostic tests. He said the problem was that the computer controlling the shifting needed to be reset. He reset the computer, and it drives beautifully. Quite a bargain!

omg - thank you for this video! it popped up on my feed a few minutes ago and couldn't have come at a better time! i bought a 2000 Toyota Sienna today! it's even the same color as the one in your video. i got it for $800! it's in great shape for it's age and mileage of 240,xxx. a very smooth and quiet ride. i was pretty shocked by how 'right' it felt on the road for a 23 yr old vehicle with so many miles. almost talked myself out of buying it and into believing there just had to be something wrong that i wasn't seeing. but to be honest, i've been without a car for over a year and would have welcomed a wagon and team of horses and been grateful for it. after watching this video i'm now as confident as i can be that i made the right decision. thanks again!

It helps if you know how to work on cars. Then you get things called a mechanics special. My first car was a 95 Geo Metro with 150k on it (pretty late in life for those) that I paid 300 bucks for. Guy couldn't get it to run and just wanted it gone. I bought it, basically just gave it a tune up, cleaned out the fuel system and fixed the heater switch and bam. Cause of the 2000 shortage on conductors and the lack of the usual supply of cars made during the pandemic. Sucks because I’m looking for a used car for my wife and used cars 7-10 years old that would normally be 15k tops with decent mileage are selling for 20-25. I bought a 98 bmw for 4k for the meantime until I find something for her but I hav ea feeling it’s going to take about 2-3 years for used car prices go back to normal as these 2022-23 model leases return to car lots and drive down the prices of older models again.

My 2003 Sienna van is in PERFECT interior condition, rides smooth, engine purrs. Body is in great shape but it needs paint, as the clearcoat is failing - which I'm getting ready to do. It got us through two boys and a lot of trips to the mountains. I have a hitch on it so I can pull my small trailer to move stuff. I took the back seats out (still have them) so I can move larger items and so I don't really need a truck. I thought, WHY sell it? It's a classic and super reliable. I still wouldn't hesitate to drive it several hundred miles, but mostly, just use it around town as a second car to move stuff. Mine is this exact color. I love her! I honestly think mid 90’s to mid 00’s vehicles are the best vehicles ever made. It was a perfect blend of modern reliability and comfort with not too much tech on them and (especially the Japanese ones) are fairly simple to work on. I’ve been driving one or another version for almost my whole career and I will keep doing so. They’re not flashy but they’re comfortable and still have a little character to them. My latest family one is a 2006 Honda pilot, it’s high miles but had all the maint done with records since new. 215k and drives like new, has some luxuries like heated seats, sunroof and DVD system but nothing crazy and I love it. I’d still be rocking my 2000 Camry with over 200k if it didn’t get totaled, my daughters 04 accord has 300k, my other daughters 02 celica has 250k. Just really great products.

Minivan is the best all-around vehicles in North America. It can be used to put some drywall from Home Depot, it can put a few kids or a whole family on it. Great for camping trip! Great for road trips! Always reliable. Less expensive than a SUV, and more "utilizable" than the SUV. Looks boring, so nobody steals them. Low insurance. Can be used to tow things too! Practical, and pragmatic! If I can only choose 1 type of vehicle, then definitely a minivan.

For some reason, minivans are quite popular here in Florida, so you're not likely to get a deal like that here. But $1,600 might get you an old Camry or Corolla. Mind you, for that kind of money the paint will be burned off of it (the hot Florida sun destroys paint quickly), but underneath the crappy paint it can still be a good car

I would argue the Chevy Astro AWD is the best work vehicle ever. 3 rows a seats for road trips or pull the seats and it is the only minivan you can put 4x8 sheets of plywood stacked to the roof and close the doors. I am on my second one and have had 3 offers to buy it in the last month alone.

2006, went to the Toyota dealer with toddler and infant thinking we wanted a RAV-4 and the wise salesman, a seasoned parent himself gently steered us toward the Sienna. Was he ever right. We added another kid and still driving it to this day. It's in the shop now with a serious set of repairs being done but I think there was only 1 other time we had any major repair done on it and the shop owner said it should be good for well over another 100k or so miles.

Yeah, lots of miles and still running. I had a Toyota RN50 pickup with a 22R engine once. The speedometer always read 8% more than the actual speed, and the odometer registered 8% more than the actual mileage. They are good vehicles, but check your odometer against the mile posts on the interstate. I climbed the north side of Brindlee Mountain on US231 when it was slushy near the bottom and snow covered half way up with regular tires, no chains.

They use to really know how to make vehicles back in the day, and we got something pretty good for our money. I still like buying an older used vehicle instead of new, and have it checked out thoroughly by a mechanic, because I know it's going to be so much better built than the newer ones, and we aren't going to have all of the new electronic problems and sensor problems which will save us a ton of money not having to have repaired.
