FYI they don't come fully built, this is due to the crate size. Obviously the bulk of the machine is together but the tires and other hub pieces are left off to fit into the square crate. The loose bolt issue is the installer at the dealership that puts the rest of the machine together before it hits the showroom. I have met a number of these guys. Some are mechanics who are very tedious and some are just installers 18 years old doing it as a summer job and not so meticulous. This assemble at the dealership is an issue at most dealerships and this is why they tell you to check every bolt you can see when you buy any atv dirtbike utv crotchrocket Harley naked cruiser what have you. Cars are the only vehicle fully assembled and delivered from the factory.
I have a 2019 XMR-850 and I found mine were loose too. I got mine brand new and found them on my first walk around. (I'm a mechanic) The factory must have the same guy installing these. 😊 Nice catch. "Ride Hard an Be Safe" MN Bill
Yep. I have a 22' Outy 650 XT and the left side sway bar bushing bolts were observed to be loose about a month and a half ago. I was just greasing it as well and noticed it. Took the bolts out, cleaned them and used some blue lock tight. Haven't had any issues since. Cheers!
2021 outlander 1000r here. Accidentally stumbled across this video while looking up how to content. I actually found the first one myself while greasing the zerk fitting. The top bolt was almost entirely backed out but no bolts lost. Noticed around 600 miles. Going to check that plate tomorrow, thanks for the heads up!
Bought a 2022 Outlander 650 XT last October and had the same issue. Noticed it immediately when I got home with it and tightened them up. Another common issue is the winch switch is wired backwards, or the cable is wound the wrong way. -edit- just remembered that my fuel pump also died under 100 miles, but I was out of warranty. $400 for the whole assembly from Can Am. Replaced the factory Chinese pump with a $50 Japanese pump.
Good catch. My 2021 outlander had same issue, it was making so much noise I thought it was something with arms or shocks. Glad I found the issue before they fell off. Good video.
From Aussie, they were loose on my 2019 650, one was completely gone and another half way out, we call this the pitman arm bush, you guys might call it something else, unfortunately I found the issue in the form of a suspension rattle, wish I would have seen you segment earlier.
It's not just your machines. I've got a 22 and had the same issue on the right side of the machine. Couldn't find the clunk and took back to the dealership. They couldn't find it. I found it before we left the dealership and we pulled them and reinstalled with locktite. No issue since.
Same thing happened on both my bike and the wife's. 2022 XMR650 and 2022 650XT. Mine was like yours, both bolts gone. Her bike they were loose. Left side of mine was loose as well.
I can’t believe how many brand new bikes have the issue. Luckily I was able to find a matching bolt at Home Depot for a few cents vs a few $$ at the dealer.
Yup my 2023 850 max had 22hrs on it and they were loose on left and bolts were missing on the right warranty Took Care Of It They Also Found Front Drive Shaft Out Of Alignment
They’re assembled in Mexico….probably just a fluke, “too close to cerveza time on a Friday” I don’t think it’s a can am thing per se. I’ve worked for a can am dealer and never had that problem on new machines.
I had same issue on my 21 850 xmr Also has my rear driveshaft bolt back itself all the way out causing all kinds of damage luckily dealer warranty covered me
I’ve seen a couple friends bikes with that driveshaft issue as well. I haven’t had a chance to check mine yet but if it has the issue I may make another video about it.
Both of mine renegade xmr 2022 and outlander 2023 xmr sway bar link bushing loose struts bolt loose bolts laying around in the frame too . Crazy for a 20k machine out the door you expect everything to be on point
While greasing zerks on my 2021 Can Am Outlander 1000 XMR guess what I found. Yep, the front sway bar bushings were loose. The right side lower bolt was about to fall out. The others looked fine but they were loose as well. The 10 mm socket wrench got them tight. The three bolts that looked fine each took 1/2 to 3/4 turn to achieve a tight fitting.
2022 650 outlander and mine were loose also ...could hear a clunk in the front while in the rough stuff going slow a thats what it was...2000km later and there still tight.
@@johnsoff-road no and it's been good since,I guess I caught it in time before it did any damage to the bracket holding it,it was one of the first ride after I bought it new.
My 2022 Can-Am 1000 XMR we're also loose. I came across another video that showed the same thing it was probably a couple of years old. After watching that video I checked mine and mine were loose from the factory brand new.
It sucks that we have to check the machines over ourselves to make sure they were built right. I’m a big fan of Can-Am but simple things like this shouldn’t happen.
2022 xt max 850. I had a bad clunk right from the factory. Took it back to the dealership after my first ride and the owner said that those bolts were loose.
bought a 2022 can am outlander brand new...parked it and it was running good at the time...went to try it later and it will not start...of course this was right after the warranty was finished...engine light came on and only would growl (battery/) right now it is parked as i can not do anything with it..money talks but only if you have it!
I noticed one of mine was loose on my 2022 850 XT max when I was greasing it a couple of months ago! I tightened it up and when it went in for its service the first of this month, I had them take a look and make sure they were all still holding on properly. The bike has 3600km on it. Apparently I’ll have to keep a close eye on these when I clean/grease the bike.
i HAVE A 2020 650 OUTLANDER MAX AND I RE-TIGHTENED THEM ON THE LEFT SIDE BEFORE I USED THE BIKE, I NOTICED THEY WERE FALLING OFF. THIS MUST BE A MISS ON THE MANUFACTURER PART. I ALSO ADDED LOCK TIGHT TO THOSE BOLTS.
The forum had an article where it was highly recommended to check all bolts you could get to. I have an 850 Outlander on order, so that will be one of my first tasks. Oh, I noticed my Dad's CFMOTO CForce 600 has paint marks on all the bolts. I haven't notice any of them rotating out of paint mark alignment either.
That looks to just be the sway bar, not a huge risk unless going fast and turning hard. As a Canadian I like to buy Canadian, but Can-Am, while making great engines and some of the most capable machines, they just aren't up to my standards in maintenance and quality checks before delivery. So between that and the only dealer near me for hours is brutally bad, I won't buy one. I can't justify driving 3 hrs when service is needed because my close dealer is shady.
my 19 1000 outlanders sway bar bolts were loose too, so I got rid of the sway bar...problem solved. I want my suspension to do what it was designed to do which is articulate and move around, not like im circle track racing it so its really a non issue and i also cut the rear one out.
@@johnsoff-road its much more supple over bumps, ruts, n stuff but I dont take corners at speed for obvious reasons, if i do it will lean to the outside hard and lift the inside front tire. Off camber hill climps it tends to be a bit more squirrley but those are quirks that i knew were going to come with taking the sway bars off. Overall I think its much more nible out in the bush.
@@johnsoff-road im mainly in flatish areas unless im crossing mtn ranges or rivers here in Alaska. Max speed maybe 25 mph? Like i said earlier, im not racing this machine so the sway bars got axed.
Yep, I have this issue on my 2023🙃 what kind of tires are those and what size? And are you stock height or lifted, if so which lift kit did you buy? Thanks!
I habe a 07 and the things a pos it was my first can am and going to be my last so many issues not even funny Rebuild the engine at 4200km Replaced both u joints on rear shaft Fixed a leaking rad cap Leaking cam tensioner And now the overflow for thr coolant gurgles when i am done a drive and squirts coolant when cooling down....should have stuck with a brute force lol but nooooope. Had to buy a can am cuz i was told as advrrtosed that there hogh qiality ...nobody mentioned high maintenece 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I have a 2022 570... bought it new. Its been my experience that they are junk. I would have taken it back immediately, but i need it for my farm and after my honda was stolen, you couldnt find a utility fourwheeler anywhere. Ill never own another one.
Every brand has their issues but overall in the 4 Can-Am’s I’ve owned I’ve had no issues that weren’t caused by me. I’ve had a 2010 650, 2020 650, 2021 850 and 2023 1000 XMR. All have been the Max chassis. I wouldn’t own another brand of quad. I know the sub 650 models prior to 2023 are a completely different machine so maybe that has something to do with it.
@johnsoff-road I get that. You could buy a new Cadillac and have it break down. My biggest issue has been customer service, or that lack there of. I was sold a lemon that I paid cash for and no one at the company or the dealership cares.
@nealmcbaggins127 yeah that sucks for sure! I’ve been lucky in that the only issue I had with my 2010 was covered under warranty and went smoothly. Having issue after issue and not getting proper service is definitely not good!
Thank you very much for the video. I'm picking up my new 2022 outlander 850 xt in a couple of days and will definitely keep an eye on both sides. Anything else I should know? 🍻🇨🇦
Thanks for watching! I’d be curious if you check yours right when you get it if the bolts will be loose. Lots of people have commented that their new machines were loose but that was after riding a bit. Let us know! Keep it greased and enjoy!
@@johnsoff-road I should be picking it up later today after work and I will definitely check both sides before I ride it and I'll keep you and everyone posted.
Just got it home about an hour ago but it's still in the back of my truck because it's pouring rain here in Southern Ontario. Hopefully it will quit tomorrow morning and I'll be able to unload it and check both sides. What size wrench is needed?
@@johnsoff-road so I finally got my new 2022 Can Am outlander 850xt out of my truck and on the ground and before my maiden voyage I checked the bolts on both sides and not only were they all a little bit loose but when I tightened the top one on the side with the foot brake the head of the bolt and a few of the threads came right out and it was barely snug. Really soft bolts. I went for my first ride anyway as I was pumped up to go and then pissed off that this happened. 72.2 kms. My question now is how safe is it to drive it like this? Can I wait until the break in service to get it fixed?
Hi buddy I like your 2 gas cans and mounts ,can you post the part# of the cans and mounts. And yes my were lost also I have a2020 850 north edition. TY Tommy from long lsland New York.
Did you lose all of them on both sides? They’re the sway bar bolts. If you still have one take it into Home Depot and pick up a matching one. It’ll be a few cents as opposed to a few dollars at the dealer. That’s what I did with the one I lost.
I have a 2021 Outlander Max 850 Xt identical to yours. I will check first thing tomorrow. When I first bought it I would have a clunking noise coming from those sway arms. It was so annoying. Did you have that same problem or ever hear a clunking or snapping noise coming from that area?
Yes on my trip a couple weeks ago I had a clunk on that right side. When I got back and looked, both bolts gone. I went riding yesterday and the clunk is gone now that the bolts are replaced.
I got replacements from Home Depot for about 1/4 the price of the dealer. Just take one off from the other side and take it into the store to find the closest match you can. Then reinstall them with blue Loctite.
Can Am is garbage, I was dumb enough to buy two of them for farm use and they started falling apart right after I got them and good luck getting a dealer to fix them under warranty.
I’ve had 4 Outlanders over the past 14 years and have never had any major issues. And anything that was warranty was covered without question. Every manufacturer has their own set of issues/poor dealer experiences.
