This Video is a must see for New Holland owners. We discuss, what in our opinion is, a design flaw with hydraulic cylinders used on New Holland Tractor as well as other equipment which use "Wire Keeper" type hydraulic cylinders.

I understand your frustration ! I've worked on a service truck over 50 yrs it's not just. NHolland most farm loaders are that style cylinders, very simple, these are lower cost simple, I've had bigger problems getting cylinder threaded glands unscrewed especially when manufacturers use red loctite , not judging you, but if could somehow get your equipment under a roof it would be beneficial for your equipment, thanks! Good luck maintaining your Equipment

New Holland is not the only one to use this type of cylinder.

It's the only one I own. 😉 Unfortunately, there are only a few manufacturers that seem to make the majority of tractors so yes there are more. Regardless it is a bad design.

A man in Alberta, Virginia got a New Holland 2 years ago brand New,He has had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS AFTER PROBLEMS. MAJOR PROBLEMS. AND COMPANY GAVE HIM NO HELP.

Who is his dealer? Better yet, if he bought it 2 years ago brand new, it was under warranty. Did he do something to void that warranty? My dealer has given me no issues with the minor problems I had with my new one

My ford loders cylinders started to leek and the rods were not great so I replaced the whole cylinder rather than deal with those wire keeper cylinders.

Thanks for shooting straight & for suggesting how to avoid the trouble you had. Thanks too for being someone who understands machines. I’m tired of slick RU-vid folks who offer poor (or worse) advice.

It would be specific to that loader/cylinder. If you have a 7314 loader and need it let me know and I maybe able to share some work arounds as well on the bucket cylinder as those were list at $265 each so I found a better option that has worked well

😂, I guess they all have their issues. I do have a John Deere excavator I’m quite fond of, but have not had to repack any cylinders on it yet. Have repacked Case dozer, Galion Motor Grader, and Hyundai mini excavator.

A few things to clear up here. 1 New Holland doesn't build that cylinder it is bought from a vendor. 2 I've rebuilt 100's of cylinders, a wire keeper is in probably 40% of cylinders, and work just fine. Don't blame New Holland because you don't have the knowledge to fix that type cylinder. 3 CNH is New Holland, it's stands for Case New Holland and all parts to all the equipment say CNH. 4 The hydraulic shop you went to must be morons of they couldn't match up that seal, the shop I use has a fill rate of 90% and if they don't have it, it gets delivered to my door the next morning, coming from Florida, and I live in Wisconsin. 5. The seals didn't cost $300 I looked up your loader and the cylinders, the cost direct from New Holland was $90.67. I've replied twice to the post, he keeps removing it, which pretty much tells the story

1. It doesn’t matter who the manufacturer is, New Holland uses it. 2. If you paid attention to the video, I didn’t have any problem rebuilding the cylinder. The design problem refers to rust and pitting in the end of the cylinder where the wire allows moisture in. Threads are a better design. 3. Show me a link to the “$90 kit. Both online and from my local dealer, the lift cylinder kit and the bucket cylinder kit were ridiculously expensive (most recent price was $265 for bucket cylinder). 4. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If you feel loyalty to New Holland, that’s your choice and this is still a free country so you do what works for you.

Thanks for that. I bought a New Holland boomer 50 2yrs ago and just love it . But I also do the correct manitance on the tractor. A big thing is keep it greased and check your oil. I am tired of people on RU-vid saying how new holland is junk. They are not

Looking at all the cost and pricing of manufacturers I’m sometimes tempted to try other tractors, I’ll get a demo for a day or two from new holland, Massey and by the time they go back I’m always completely positive I made the correct decision in buying John Deere. My 6155R runs circles around any Case or other brand and they’ve ALWAYS ran well. There’s issues that come up and need tending but my dealer is awesome, which brings me to the fact that I’m not buying a brand, I’m buying a dealer. ALL these machines have their problems, big or small, but the dealer here in Crowley La is amazing, on top of their game. That’s what it comes down to in my opinion, take it for what it’s worth. I know some guys up north that swear by case, some new holland, the difference is their dealer. Always comes down to the dealer, always.
