you are right about canon printers being finicky, but I really love the 2 I have, both have clear carts so I can refill. I have probably saved many hundreds of dollars over the past 20 years.

Old vid but just popped up on my recommended list. On the main point, a dry absorber can easily be fixed by pulling a vacuum on the cartridge. Take one of the rubber stopper plugs and poke your syringe through it. Fill the syringe about half full of ink, then insert into cartridge so the stopper seats. Pull up on the syringe to pull air from the cartridge, then allow the vacuum you've made pull the ink in from the syringe. You need to hold a finger over the vent or use some tape to block it while filling so air can not enter the cartridge. Second note, the chips simply count ink usage, they don't actually measure anything about the real amount of ink left, they just know how much ink should have been used on a given print and when that count reaches a given level it reports an empty cartridge. This is why you must make sure to only reset full cartridges. if you reset one that is half full it will run completely dry long before reporting empty.

Hi Jose and others. Michael Breskin here with a helpful tip to get Precision Color or Canon OEM inks off of your hands within about 3 minutes. I hate getting ink on my hands while refilling the Cl42 carts when using the ink refills from Precision Color, or the OEM inks for that matter. Hopefully this will help. 1. Get Arm and Hammer Laundry Detergent With OxyClean Max Stain Fighters. It comes in a Yellow container (Arm & Hammer's Logo Color), with a blue label that says Plus OxyClean Max Stain Fighter. I bought mine in a 250Z container at Costco, I don't know if it is available in a smaller quantity container or not. Secondly, get either the "Blue Rags" at Home Depot, which are a heavy duty terry cloth rag, and are re-washable. They come in a package of about 6 or more. I would keep these rags separate for obvious reasons from house hold laundry after cleaning your inked hands. You could also try a regular terry cloth rag but I have not tried this so no guarantees. 3. Do the following: Put the Detergent on a Blue Rag, or terry cloth rag, wet your hands with the warm or hot water, keeping the water running and rub over the ink affected areas on your hand. I found within about 3 minutes of constant rubbing I remove most of if not all of the ink. You may have to re-apply the laundry detergent to the rag one or more times. I typically have to re apply the detergent a couple of times. By that time it is at least 90% removed. Depending on how long you want to spend, 3-5 minutes or a little more will be dependent on how much ink you can remove. I normally don't spend more than about 3 minutes. Whatever residual ink is left on your hands or skin if any is usually gone the next or so. I found the key here to be the roughness of the rag, applying the detergent to the rag one or more times, hot water and constantly rubbing the ink affected areas. I feel that by far I have not found any other method as reliable or easy for removing these inks from my skin or hands. Hope this helps. Michael Breskin Photographer & Digital Artist

I own a Canon MX432 for everyday prints and scanning and the Pixma 100 for my fine art prints. The best printing paper I've used for my fine art/digital art prints is the "Canson Infinity Edition Etching Rag Fine Art Paper" You can also download the ICC profile at their website. My artist/photographer buddy recommended to me a while back and I've been using it ever since.

Is this a matte or slightly glossy baryta type paper? If so it indefinitely amazing on the PRO100. If you have a custom profile for that paper/PC inks combo it would even be better. The profile form the canon paper was made with and for use with OEM inks.
@FJRamosArt
@FJRamosArt 7 лет назад
I believe its a Matte type..bright white , 100% cotton fine art paper. They say it's reminiscent to the etching and printmaking papers. What I'm trying to find is a way I can print double sided on a thinner paper like the the children story books. I want to self publish my own but not sure if I can do it with the pixma100?
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 7 лет назад
Matte media does not print as well on the dye based PRO 100. Red River sells dual coated papers that may work well. You might to use something less expensive than that other paper for that type work.

Hi again Jose. Thanks for answering my cart reset question earlier today. I'm not sure if I understand the answer but my problem now is that I have two complete full cart sets waiting to be used and one partially used set in the printer with the printer giving me erroneous cart levels. Should I reset all the carts? If I do that, do I need to empty the liquid side of the carts? Once again thanks for your help.
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 5 лет назад
Yes you should reset them all. You should reset every single cart when you remove a set, after one of them reaches low you're supposed to refill all of them and reset all of them. Then you can put them aside till needed. You should have another said already processed in the same way, topped off and reset.

+Jorge Moreno These printers can take not being used for quite a while. Although not forever. Install inks and do a cleaning cycle then a nozzle check and see if you have a 100% check. If you do not, DO NOT print anything. Do anther cleaning cycle and another nozzle check. If you are ok then you are good to go. If not then the head might require a manual cleaning. There are plenty of CANOn Print Head cleaning videos on RU-vid that you can use.

Hi Jose, just came across your videos. I ordered the PC refill kit and although I have 2 sets of cli42 carts the first set has been sitting around for a few months and look pretty dry. Will that be a problem If I refill them now? Is there something I can do to remoisten the foam before I refill them. In one of your videos you mention a solution that cleans the chambers but I couldn't quite understand the name. thank you for your videos. Extremely helpful. Robin

@cheo1949 8 лет назад
It has no name and it is only used to rejuvenate the sponge after MANY refills! If the empties weigh more than 14 grams then they are not dried. Modify them and top them off as is. You should not reuse the yellow ones. Replace them with pre flushed ones from PC. Switch the OEM chips to those and fill them with PC Yellow.

Jose just received my ink fill kit recently from Precision Color. I have two sets of oem carts with ink. One set is in the printer and the 2nd set I removed when they were partly empty. I had pulled th entire 2nd set out when I saw one of your videos that stated to remove the whole set and refill all at once even though there were varied levels to prevent unwanted purge cycles from replacing one at a time and to also prevent the domino effect in refilling them. My second set on standby are partly used and ready to be modified and refilled. The one set in the printer has some partly used ones now. I was going to modify, refill and replace the first set in the printer with this second set. I also just came across maybe one of your earlier videos where you said to replace the carts one at a time until the entire set needed refilling vs. replacing the entire set. So I am a little confused. I have the one set of oem pulled that are partly used, to modify and refill. When they are ready should I replace one at a time from that set as each ink gets used in the printer, thus more purge cycles will happen as well as the domino effect or should I replace the entire set? Thanks. Michael
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 7 лет назад
When you begin and you only have one set of OEM carts you will only be able to change one at a time. One reaches low and you remove it, then quickly modify it, reset and fill and replace it back in the printer. If you happen to have two sets of original carts, you proceed this way. When the first OEM cart reaches low, remove and replace with the second matching color OEM cart from the second cart. Now you modify the cart you just removed rest and fill it. Put it on stand by. Continue printing and as other carts from the first set become low, remove them, and replasce them with carts from the second set. Modify the ones you removed and put aside. Eventually you will have your last one or two OEM carts from the first set still in the printer reach low and you continue on acart at a time as before. Eventually you should have the printer loaded with carts from the second OEM set and ALL the carts from the first set should be modified, reset, filled and waiting to be used. Now is when you switch a complete set. Now when any one cart from the second in the printer reaches low, you remove the entire set and replace it with the one that is 100% modified. Now you will modify the full second set. The one you just removed. You modify them and fill them regardless of whether they have different levels of original ink in them or not. The only exception is the oem yellow. Unless you flush the OEM yellow carts using my process shown in my flushing video, you will have to replace the OEM cart with two pre modified and pre flushed ones purchased from PC. The original yellow chips must be then transferred from the original yellow carts to the replacement carts. I know it sounds confusing but have patience and eventually you will have both cart sets fully set up and from that point on the rest will be child's play.

Hi Jose...thanks for all the info. I wish I had discovered your videos when I first got my pro-100. Here's my question. I've switched over to precision colors and have converted three complete cart sets and have made them refillable. I used your videos along with the ones from precision colors and the process went flawlessly. I've been using all three sets for the last few months using your method of exchanging the entire cart set when one color got low. I've only let the low ink warning come on once, and that was the first time I changed out the cart set. I immediately replaced with another full reset cart set and everything was fine. I reset the low color only, filled the rest of the carts and put the set away for its next use. I have not let the warning light come on again. I replace the entire set and refill without resetting. This whole cycle worked for a few month, ink levels showed full on the maintenance tab immediately after cart replacement. I changed carts out a couple of days ago, and when I looked at the levels immediately after replacement, levels were at the same level as the previous set of carts. What happened? Can I take that whole set out and reset all the carts? Do I have to empty the liquid side prior to refill? Once again, thanks for the help. Your videos are wonderful.

Hi Jose, I really appreciate all these videos you post. I'm a newcomer to fine art printing and you;ll helping me a lot. I have a question about converting to Precision Inks, you suggest that when one cart needs refilling replace all the carts even though they're still full. So that means several of the carts will have a mixture of OEM ink and the 3rd party ink. Doesn;t that then screw up the profile ? Also have you tried the papers from Costco ?
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 8 лет назад
+Garry Pycroft That assumes you have two complete sets of OEM carts to work with. The sole purpose is to Extend the printing period before any cart goes low. The less carts you change the fewer the purge cycles generated which would be only one compared to eight. So before you even consider switching you will have to consider buying that second set of inks. As the best scenarios is always two sets. CANON printers do not give you but a few minutes while the printer is in Cart Change Mode. For the transition from OEM to PC you can simply top off the OEM carts ( After you modify them and reset them ) with PC inks. They very close match! Only with the original yellow one, you can not do that. With your complete PC refill set, you will receive an EMPTY CLI-8 carts onto which you will transfer the original Yellow CLI-42 chip to. Then you will fill that one completely with PC yellow ink. You discard the original empty yellow cart. You will never be able to used as you can not mix the two yellow inks. Once you have the complete set more or less using PC inks then you can simply do as I suggest. You begin with a complete reset and filled set of carts. You print and print and after while one carts will be low. You will get the low warning. None of the other cart will be full. They will be at various levels. You remove that set and replace it with the second set that was on standby. One Purge Now you reset and refill that set and store it till needed. Now you proceed to print for quite a while before another cart is declared low. If you do not follow this work flow you will be constantly changing carts as they go low ( remember that if you are refilling you CAN NOT allow a cart to go empty as they will not absorb ink into the sponge as well as before ) you will enter into what we call the "Domino Effect" where there is always a cart going low. Every time you exchange a cart you will be running a purge cycles prior to being able to print anything. I hope this id not too overwhelming! Once you get into the swing of things iit actually goes very smoothly.

+Jose Rodriguez Thanks Jose, what about the profiles ? I understood when you went to 3rd party inks they suggested new ICC profiles, so if you're mixing OEM and 3rd party inks which profile do you use ?
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 8 лет назад
+Garry Pycroft You simply have live with the OEM prifiores until you are completely running on PC inks. But the reality is that the OEM profiles are a very good match with PC ink only if you are super picky. PC has free profiles on their site for their inks and many papers!

@cheo1949
@cheo1949 8 лет назад
+Jorge Moreno Sure but then what? When you open the lid on the printer, it moves the print head to the center position or Cart Changing Mode. It only remains in the mode for a few minutes and then tries to return to the operation position. Which would be very bad if you have not replaced all the carts back onto the head. You had better have reseted all the chips and more importantly refilled and replaced all the carts. Quite impossible to do if you only have a few minutes to do so unless you have superpowers. The hard truth is that ALL Canon owners you are looking to refill their own OEM carts need to buy a second full set and then and only then can you practice the best and least wasteful method which is to replace all carts when ONE reaches the LOW position. I am trying to reduce the ink purge cycles to a minimum. 8 individual carts being replaced as needed = 8 individual ink purges. One full set of carts replaced at once = only 1 ink purge and having a full set every time allows you to print MUCH longer before any one cart reaches low. If you hasten the filling up of your waste ink pads to saturation point the printer will cease to work even though there is nothing mechanically wrong with it. Servicing a printer that has saturated its waste pads cost several hundred $ to reset and replace the old pads. Often more than the printer itself Joe

It remains attached to the cap and kept sealed with the scabbard when not use. Before you refill a cart, you could clean it with alcohol if you wish! This method of refilling is very clean compared to syringes, needles and bottles. That is a sure recipe for contamination.

Jose, I've been refilling my Canon Pixma Pro 100 ink cartridges for awhile and I noticed that if you fill the ink chamber side all the way to the top it doesn't completely fill the sponge side. I was thinking of filling the sponge side by flipping it over and filling it from the bottom side and plugging the other end so it won't spill over.
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 6 лет назад
You actually do not need to completely fill the sponge side. The sponge is a two layer system and the bottom layer is the one that must be always saturated. The way to avoid this if it still bothers you is to never ever allow the carts to continue to print after the low warning is displayed. That way the sponge saturation is not reduced. Remember that after the low warning there is no more ink in the liquid chamber. So the sponge will begin to lose saturation. This is a no no to be avoided at all costs. NO do not try to compensate by doing what you suggest.

I just bought a Canon pro 100, You mention changing out the whole set instead of one cart at a time as they go low. How about black? I use black the most as I do lots of B&W prints. I assume this can be the exception as long as the colors don't become empty. Thanks!!
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 4 года назад
Okay this only applies once you begin to use third-party inks and you have put together two complete sets of cartridges and not at the very beginning. If you're using original inks then it's one at a time. This swapping of complete sets only applies when you are refilling and you have two complete sets of cartridges. You exchange one complete set when any one cartridge is declared to be low. What you are trying to do is diminish the number of purge cycles that will occur every time you install a single cartridge. If you are using OEM inks then this does not apply to you

+Chester Williams You technically could but their inks ( cli-8 ) are totally different so in short, no. They would have to flushed clean off the old inks, dried, modified for refilling have the chips replaced and lastly filled with Precisioncolors ink for the PRO-100. The Inks are indeed different in their chromatic properties. It's simply much easier to begin with original CLI42 carts. The only one you need to get a CLI8 cart for is to replace the original yellow CLI42 cart.

In practical experience, I have not experienced any perceptible fading on any of my prints done with either OEM inks or PC inks. But my prints remain stored in boxes or framed behind glass. The stuff that is stuck bare to my print room wall seem fine as well. Paper choose has a huge influence on ink longevity almost as much as the inks themselves.

is their any secret to the OEM cannon ink? I used to refill my cartridges on a admittedly lower end $100 model a year or two ago. I could refill the cartridges about 4 times then had to toss the printer as I always got what appeared to be a bad print head, clogged. Tried numerous times to unclog it but same this with a few other cannons. Perhaps the print head is only meant to last to long but seem strange as in all 3 or 4 cases I used new printers. I still got my monies worth but not the best environmentally even though printers can be easily recycled at places like staples. My theory was that the OEM ink has finer particle, less abrasive than the shitty ink I bought off Amazon.
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 6 лет назад
Well you should never ever buy compatible inks for CANON Printers. Their print heads are very fragile. Unless their are Pigment based, they are dye so no particles as you have theorized. Top quality 3rd party inks and your canon will last a very long time as mine do.

Jose: It 6-20-17, okay, I have PIXMA MX922 printer. The original CLI-251 carts with it are black, no way to tell when they are nearly empty, or how much refill ink is enough or necessary to refill them. Bummer!! Also, where does one get plugs to replace the original if I do reuse these originals that came with the printer. Thanks for a reply!!

I do not have nor know anything about the Canon MX922. These opaque carts are difficult to fill properly and some can not be reset. Check precisioncolors to see if they have anything for that printer model. Plugs they do have!

hello Mr.Rodriguez I just invested in this Pro 100 I just bought a new set of OEM x8 set cl 42 ink .I wished I had seen your videos before this,but i'm thinking of going with PC ink set and just drop in the new set first then refill the ones that came with printer with PC ink. just curious can you use cl8 OEM ink with chip swap on all colors or it's only for the yellow ink cartridge that'll work with the pro ?
@cheo1949

+David Gonzalez Only the yellow one! Do not waste the other CLI-42s! You will ha etbe best scenario with two complete OEM cart set. Look at my other videos oioin cartridge management and follow what I suggest. Get the complete PC refill kit and two cli-8s for both your original yellow carts wbi you should use till empty since you will not be refilling those!

Is it true that print heads last longer of the printer is set to print at the highest quality or resolution?
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 6 лет назад
Never heard of that. Theoretically it should not. In fact the opposite might be true. In the highest setting the print head has to pass over way an inch worth of print many more times than with a lower quality setting. The more a nozzle is forced primt, the quicker it will wear out and deteriorate. Specially with Canon Printheads.

Is there a reason that you need two sets as opposed to just refilling all of the carts when one runs low? Is it just that with two sets you're not "down" while you're refilling, or do they need to sit off the printer for a long time after refilling?
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 7 лет назад
Sure if you can do it that fast. I don't want my print head sitting there waiting for me to finish refilling 8-12 carts. On CANON Printers the head will only stay in the change cart position for a few minutes.
@glgermain
@glgermain 7 лет назад
Can you unplug the printer while you refill the carts so that the head doesn't retract? Also, if you are using the printer for both text and photos, will it clean all the heads and waste ink when you refill black? Is it best to have a different printer for text? I ask because my daughter is going to art school and may need a color printer for photo but will also need to print class papers. You videos are a great help. Thank you.
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 7 лет назад
The problem with unplugging while you fill and reset the carts is that the printer will then run a huge cleaning cycle waste quite a bit of ink which goes into the waste ink pads. When the pads become saturated and the printer stops working. Cost more than the printer to service it. My two cart procedure eliminates these large cleanings. You also reduce the Ink purges that occur after each and every cart change.

Flush them with Windex with Ammonia D. Let the Windex work for an hour and then flush with water. Not the other way around. Then dry till they weigh 13.5 to 14 grams bare weight without the orange ink port cap.

Hi Jose. I’ll be switching to PI for refilling my cartridges next time around. In the mean time I just received my new set of inks from Canon but have a question. My printer just alerted me that a few of my inks are low. I believe it was you that mentioned (maybe read it somewhere) that it’s best to switch them all out at once. If that’s the case then Is there a way to properly store the remaining cartridges and use the ink for my refills? It would be a shame to get dispose of them considering they still have a bunch of ink left. What do you advise?

This has been discussed dozens of times but here we go. Run Each CLI-42 cart till low, remove and replace it with the second CLI-42/ Modify, reset and fill the one you just removed and save it till needed. Continue with the 7 remaining carts ONE AT A TIME until you have completed modifying the first set. Now you have carts from the second set in the printer. Begin to replace those one at a time with the original ones. Eventually you will have two full ( 8 carts each ) that are modified and filled with your inks. MOW you can begin to replace complete sets whenever one cart reaches low. So one at a time until both full sets have been modified and refilled.
@michelleconcetta2445

i get that but i am saying that i don't have the replacement ink for the low cartridge i take out... i haven't ordered the kit from PI yet. i am asking how to store the remaining ink until i make the order so that i can modify, reset, and fill.

Mr. Rodriguez, I am planning to buy a Canon TS9020 soon. I am considering getting refillable ink (and probably refillable cartridges as well) from Precision Colors. Firstly, would Precision Colors products be a wise choice for this printer? Secondly, which ones of your videos would be useful for me in regard to refilling the cartridges for a TS9020?
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 5 лет назад
I am not familiar with TS9020. Does PC support it? The inks should be good enough for most uses as this not a true photo printer and you would require custom paper profiles if you were intending to print photos on it. Great for regular documents though.
@hardwickebenthow
@hardwickebenthow 5 лет назад
"I am not familiar with TS9020." It's essentially an updated version of the MG7720. "Does PC support it?" Yes. Below is a link to Precision Colors' page for the inks and cartridges that work with this particular model. www.precisioncolors.com/C6Eb.html "The inks should be good enough for most uses as this not a true photo printer and you would require custom paper profiles if you were intending to print photos on it." I intend to print a combination of photos and documents, but the photos are strictly for personal use and don't have to be professional-quality. Regarding my original question about which of your videos would be useful for me, what I need to know mostly concerns proper refilling procedures (ie, making sure that no air gets into the cartridge, knowing how long to let the cartridges sit before inserting them into the printer, etc), to ensure a lack of mistakes and to make the cartridges last a long time. Do you have any videos that would be useful for me in that regard, and would be appropriate for the printer that I intend to buy?
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 5 лет назад
These are sponge refillable cart which are always one notch below actually modifying your OEM ones but in this case it may not be possible so you have to use the less reliable refillable ones. As I've said a million times in my PRO-100 videos, always top off when you get the low warning, and then when the cart chip declares it "Empty" it really won't be empty. That is what you must always maintain with these carts. So when they hit low, you top them off and then when you get the error you remove and reinsert the cart and the ARC will reset to full. NEVER EVER allow the cart to continue printing after the LOW warning as that WILL allow air to enter the sponge and that is when you will start to have problems.
@hardwickebenthow
@hardwickebenthow 5 лет назад
Thank you for that advice. Is there anything that needs to be done during the filling itself to avoid air getting in? Does using the squeeze bottles instead of a syringes cause a risk of air bubbles?
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 5 лет назад
You're not going to get any air in there as you will be filling the liquid chamber. The sponge side is a separate isolated chamber the ink permeates into and it doesn't have access to air as long as you don't let the liquid chamber go past the first LOW warning. Just fill up the liquid chamber when it is declared to be low.

When I am printing red, it seems to come out orange. I have been using non-original compatible inks for 5 months and I've only just seen your videos. Could this be the problem? I have a greetings card business and I need to print off a red card by tomorrow and I'm really struggling. I'm a newbie and I don't really understand why it's happening. I've been printing from photoshop onto 300gsm thick matte card stock, I've tried changing the settings in Photoshop but not much difference... What could be wrong? Next time I will definitely be buying Original OEM inks and refilling like I have seen in your videos. Really helpful videos, thank you !
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 6 лет назад
That exactly the problem. Non OEM inks have a very hard time reproducing reds. Are you using a color managed work f!ow? You also did not tell the printer or whether that stock you are using is even coated for inkjet use.
@alexcarnall9771
@alexcarnall9771 6 лет назад
Jose Rodriguez What's a colour managed work flow? Does that mean using a screen calibrator ? I don't have one of those, should I invest in one?
@alexcarnall9771
@alexcarnall9771 6 лет назад
Jose Rodriguez I haven't checked if the paper is suitable for inkjet actually
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 6 лет назад
Well that means you are calibrating the display split actually displaying correctly so when view red it is not actually an ornate shade. That's a bit over simplified but you get the idea. Then you must print using a custom profile for the media you are using. There is a lot more to it and it is somewhat of a learning curve. What is your printer again?
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 6 лет назад
Well that will determine whether you can ever get correct rendition of colors.

@cheo1949
@cheo1949 8 лет назад
Ow does it not match? Are you now running on 100% PC? Meaning you've gone through at least 2 complete refillings of your OEM carts? I did not see much differences on my printer and have been using them since te PRO-100 was purchased over 2 years ago. Use some of the custom ICC files provided in the PC site. Making sure you have turned off color matching in the driver.
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 8 лет назад
So you are running a "hybrid" ink set. Once you get all carts running on PC and you have refilled the carts 2x or more times, then you can truly evaluate. Color matching must be turned off when you are printing with ICC profiles through Photoshop or lightroom! In the driver you choose photo printing then intensity/color adjustment then matching then none. This applies only to windows.

Hi Jose, I bought Ink from Precision Colors with a new yellow cart replacement. I'm going to refill one cart at a time. At what point will I have to switch over and use their ink profiles? BTW I bought a set of OEM carts and have cleaned all of them with Windex, than flushed them good with water. All the sponges are nice and clear but its taking for ever to dry them. I even have them in front of the forced air heat vents. I've also been using my 100ml syringe to draw out moisture into the fill side and trying to get as much water out but the drying process is taking for ever to get down to 3.6 to 14g. It's been 4 days now and they are 15.6 to 15.9g. I tried the paper towels but it didn't do anything? Thanks, CJ Medina
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 7 лет назад
After several refills you will be using all PC and can then use their ICC profiles. Did you use the paper towel rope to wick moisture out? It should only take a few days. No plugs of exit port clips. Are weighing the bare cart?

Yes. I will often do that. One is low, so I reset and top it off, then I will do the same to the rest of them or to the ones that may be reaching low. There are tons of variations to how you can approach your cart management.

Hi Jose, I have a Canon ipf770 (wich is a 5 colours system printer, cartridges are PFI107 C M Y and two blacks, BK and MBK) for cad print work and I´m waiting on the ship of a set of inks for refill, while I´m waiting for that the level of the MBK has drop near empty. On the other hand, I have a set of inks for a Canon pixma ix6510 wich has a similar configuration of ink colors (CLI126 BK C M Y and PGI125pgbk). My question is, can I use the pigment black of the pixma that I have on the wide format printer, while the proper ink arrives, or will it cause damage? www.cla.canon.com/es_PA/app/pdf/brochures/inkjet_printers/PIXMA_iX6510_Brochure.pdf www.cla.canon.com/es_PA/app/pdf/brochures/large_format/iPF_770_670_Brochure.pdf pixma mentions a 1pl minimum size drop and ipf770 a 4pl minimum size drop, as I understand it should work, but I´m waiting for on kind answer. +pesto12601 That would be awesome but not going to happen unless the Purge Unit is subdivided into as many little physical sub units as you have colors. Then you would need some way to activate only the one needed. So not a Firmware or even Driver hack would achieve that.
