Some takeaways: 1. Optimize your environment to sharpen stamina and dopamine 2. Loosen your body (standing > sitting while working - also do some working every now and then) 3. Shifting environments can help regain focus (trick your brain to think you worked less time) 4. Standing means the work feels temporary, so you know you are focusing on something you want to finish 5. Stand 50% of the time Walk 25% of the time and Sit for 25% of the time 6. Motion boards help when you are stand-working 7. Four stages of flow: struggle, release, flow, recovery 8. Get past the struggle through environment shifts (aim for 3 places) and removing distrations
I tested this approach yesterday of standing 50%, walking 25%, and sitting 25% while switching environments when passing from one working block (~2hrs) to the other and it did wonders! I felt more productive and got things done faster. I'll keep using it to see if it helps me on the long term
I am doing this everyday in my work. I work with data entry and when I get tired I go and di some work in terrain. When I get tired on terrain I get back to computer. When I get complitely fatigue I have a 5 minute walk to the bathroom, which is far from my workplace😂 and I feel refreshed again. I completely agree with this guy. Keep up with this content man. You are rocking.💪.
The amount of knowledge shared in this 15 minutes is tremendous. Your videos changed my life entirely. Tried the things you mentioned, and it DOES work. Although I don't have fancy equipment etc, even moving to the roof and doing some parts of the job on the roof while moving is a game changer. Thank you.
Hey Folks, Rian here. New videos upload every Thursday at 9am! If you're interested in more ways for designing your days for flow state and productivity, check out my video about setting temporal landmarks: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hApnn1vnWi0.html
This is the best tt channel ever. You have literraly changed my life in just 1 hour of watching ur stuff and got 2x more done in 2x less times and its just starting. Guys watch this guy.
Watching your videos on repeat like I'm attending lectures again. Learning so much and making these improvements as fast as I can. Thank you so much for sharing this.
I noticed this a few days ago. I was slogging away and felt so tired. I happened to change my environment and suddenly it was easier to focus again. Thanks for the vid!
1. Stand while working- 50% of the time, walk- 25% of the time, 25% of sitting 2. perceived effort decreases with changing places, perceived exertion decreases with changing positions 3. 3 different working environments
Interesting thing about your videos that I've noticed. Almost every time, the first 5 minutes feel like a wasted 5 minutes, but just before I click next, you actually get into something good, and I end up hooked and end up liking and saving the video.
Oh wow, I’ve just only really realized why I get into the flow so easily sometimes and other times not at all. It’s just the difference between standing and sitting. I love you, man!
Change place and change position, and you cheat fatigue!! This is a new one for me. So true. I’m IN LOVE with your videos. Thank you so much for putting out these incredible INSIGHTS ♥️♥️
I intuitively do this lol. Thought I was just different. Can't work in one environment for too long. I'm able to maintain flow when I move. I have three offices: home, cafes and company location. It's awesome. I'm glad my boss let me wander bc this is how I get things done. 😊
It's amazing and satisfying to see a professional like you with a good edited video rather than a random guy who just read few books about productivity. Thank you
I just want to thank you from bottom of my heart your videos helped me sooo much in my studies and other things that i found difficult its unreal how big changes small things can make
As someone who did this cuz it felt good and got alot of weird looks from coworkers, it works. Also increases your indifferent to opinions, not to mention you just feel overall better.
I started the video don't believing how good the advice would be. But in the middle I needed to restart and pay full attention. What a spectacular video. It was what I need to watch and execute.
"Environnement affects perceived effort." This is actually so true. After a while I got burnt out from going to my local gym, so i went to another location in a city nearby and the workout was so much easier there! 😮 Novelty stimulates engagement
I’ve created 2 work spaces in my new room. One is a floor desk for writing fantasy - sitting cross-legged on the floor to write suits me well. My other space is for music/video production. It’s decorated very wonderfully with LED lights, etc. Spicing it up really inspires and re-invigorates me and activates the flow state.
Interesting. Sixty years ago while attending grade school, the Nuns had rotating classes. For each subject hour , we would move to a different classroom. They knew boredom made it harder to concentrate and a new environment would eliminate some of the boredom.
Just meditate the mind will be relaxed and the mental effort will be easier. And flow will come by itself by concentrating on the process not on the result.

I am studying for like more than 8 hours and my productivity is decreasing day by day which is making me tense. Thank god that I found this video! Will definitely try this from this moment itself! Thankyou! ✨❤️
Interesting. I do a lot of this already and people often don’t understand how powerful the switch in environment and body can be. Awesome video! Extremely validating. Thank you!! 👏🏼💯
1. Set up your main WORKING ENVIRONMENT (morning my home: sitting+standing+walking) 2. Set up THREE ADDITIONAL working environments (Home-Library-Classroom) Mindset: Sitting is not synonymous with working - Your environment shapes your stamina.
I loved the down to earth perspective of your topic. This is the first video of your channel that I have come across. It was so enlightening and thought provoking .looking forward to learning more.Thank you
Small notes for myself so I don’t forget. Do the normal stuff you do to get in a super focused state. Stand. Walk. Sit. Stand. Sit. Change environment.
me2, this channel has been life changing for me, and I say these things lightly. (he confirms things I knew, but vaguely, and didn't act with intent on it, for example that walking is good for work/novel stimuli/improved thinking etc.)
Great fucking video mate I’ve been in the sec improvement side on RU-vid for a while and can always sense when I creator is going to struck it big this channel is going to reach 100k subs in not time!
Really good video mate one suggestion I have is if you can do a video on discipline cause what I have learned through my countless failures is that when ever I fail to do something over a long period of time it’s not motivation, flow state, or rlly anything else but a lack of discipline is the root cause
At the moment (I'm still trying different approaches) I don't see any problem with discipline at all. Just think about what you really like: TV shows, video games, hiking, etc. (what are you up to). I'm sure there are some things that you can do many hours in a row. You have to trick your brain into doing the hard things as if you were playing. If you are really interested in getting results in your work, you will be able to figure out how to do that. Imagine the person in your field (better if you are know them personally). What would they do? My acquaintance works on papers on the train, talking about work tasks during his lunch break (don't think it's boring, he speaks interesting and inspiring). So, I ask myself: what would he do? Of course, when you are tired, you take a break, like in this video.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
stiff body makes work hard. Your environment shapes yur stamina. changong environment is like hitting reset button on brain. cheat fatigue. 1. set up your main wokring environment for sitting, standing, walking. ouyta 60 hours workweek. stand 50% walk 25% sit 25% Motion board. every time you change environment a new event is born. sitting not equal to working... just keep yur body moving.
Hey Rian, it's really cool what you guys are doing at FRC. Would you consider changing the title from "a small trick" to "the trick?" I believe it would add more authority to the topic and intrigue in it thus leading to a higher CTR. Regardless, great video!
same question :( it takes me around 3-7 hours to finish one chapter in physics. it’s so hard i feel so burnt out that i don’t study anything else. and i don’t end up getting full marks in physics as well. this video is much needed.
Did you guys notice how low, full and convincing Ryan's voice sound? Just wondering if it's natural or processed, if the latter how it was done and with what tools..
Thanks a lot for recommendations!!! Now I understood why I pot tendency to stand up once in a while. And kudos to Idahoosa, his lessons are amazing! But you have wrong understanding of the cache in computer :) Empty cache causes worse performance.
