I find that driving a 21 year old truck with rust spots is a great deterrent to having your car broken into or stolen. Since my passenger side lock now only opens and locks manually since the auto lock broke that's an extra level of security. Also, my taxes are $20 a year on it. Win, win.

My 11 y.o. car is full of dog hair, dog slobber, old dog treats, blankets, crates, etc. I think a thief would open the door and go "eww" and be on his way to the next target LOL.

Yeah but if you see a penny in your door handle you know whats up. Its not a situation you should just brush off, because whoever put that penny there is definitely watching you and where youre going so they could open that door later. Its kind of obvious they have to follow you

This happened to me except I had 3 hundred dollar bills lodged in my door handle. Not knowing to what to do and in panic mode I immediately called the police and they removed them for me.

Most cars nowadays don’t lock if the door is not closed properly or even if there is a slight touch of the handle open

That’s true. Or I sometimes pull the handle BEFORE the driver presses the unlock button and every door but mine opens up. Then I gotta let it go and ask them to press it one more time. It stinks ‘cause I usually try to race everyone and be the first to get in the car. But when I do that I end up being last.

Don't laugh, I found a $50 bill once and a $20 bill another time, both at a Lowe's store parking lot. On a different occasion I found a 14k gold wedding band at a CVS parking lot.

I usually check my trunk, then I pop the hood, look for a dime or nickel. Sometimes I check my floor mats for spy listening devices. You would be a complete fool not to!

Wouldn't you be more vulnerable walking around your car looking for a coin in your door & only a fool would leave their car unlocked these days. I do look in the back before I get in. I have never looked in the trunk.

Had my car broken into years ago in Greenwich Village. Cop yelled at me for keeping stuff in view: "Never keep anything visible in the car!" Ever since my truck has become a lot more organized.

Someone broke into my car years ago and stole the radio out of it while it was parked literally 3 feet from my door in the time it took to put my groceries away that I'd just taken inside. I got one with a removable faceplate after that and took it inside every time. I also had someone steal my lawnmower in broad daylight. He pulled into my yard and put it into his truck and drove away. I witnessed it but did not try to stop him in case he was armed. Police never recovered it, and I almost got evicted because the landlord was angry at the grass for getting too high, but I couldn't afford to buy another lawnmower at the time.

True, for when you drive you car 40 to 60 miles an hour, someone is bound to put a penny in the handle of your door, so that when you reach your destination your door would not lock. Not only is that impossible, but the person who put the penny in while you were driving 40 miles per hour must know your destination. Nice video! 😄😄😄

Who said anything about doing it while driving? Use your fvckin head. The idea is to place it in the handle while the person in a store or home etc... Then they take off to a different location, and when they get out of the car & lock the doors with the FOB all doors will lock except the one with the coin bc the handle was stuck. It not rocket science.

I used to work as a bike patrol officer, for a casino in Nevada, for 12 years. Another thing you should do, when you are using a public/private parking structure...when you get out of your car and head for the stairs/elevators, look at the cars around yours for things that are out of the ordinary. Organized thieves will send lookouts, through a parking structure, to scout and mark vehicles for either thefts or burglaries. They will do things like leaving coins on cars, garbage like cups and cans on or, right next to the target vehicles, in similar places, and fresh marks in the dust on dirtier vehicles in similar locations. If you see 1 or 2 of these things, you're probably safe...but, if you see 4 or more of these on the floor that you're on...find somewhere else to park...

ONLY the door with the coin won't lock. The rest will.

@@briandonatelli7034 it depends on the car. In the majority of cars that I have or have had, if one door isn't closed correctly, the central "all doors" lock doesn't work, and it buzzes at you.

I live in a high car high-jacking area. This would also be easy for them to come up upon you after you thought you locked yourself in the car. Thinking your safe and all they have to do is wait for you to get ready to pull out or get you at the corner or anywhere really. This will make me think again!!! Usually, all I care about is getting in the car fast and locking doors.

I tried this on my Prius. I put the penny after the doors were locked (like a criminal would do while you were in a store); while the door was unlocked (but why would the penny need to be there while it was unlocked...just break in and steal); I put the penny in vertical and horizontal.... Door stayed locked 100% of the time.

They put it in and follow you to your next destination hoping it's not in your garage. One you unlock to get in that door now can't lock until the coin is gone.

I have a 2017 Flex. It turns lights on when doors are open but if the doors are open longer than like 10 minutes, the lights shut off.

My car has an alarm for this specifically, if the car ever is started without the unlocked button on the key being pressed, it's alarm with go off alerting everyone arround the vicinity

My door handles on my 1998 Ford Ranger look nothing like that. I lost the door key for it ages ago so yeah, I never keep anything valuable in it and I don't worry about anyone stealing it because not only of it's age but also because it's a 5 speed manual transmission and most thieves don't want to or don't know how to drive a stick shift, lol.

Hell yeah mines been redone it's a extended cab 4x4 splash that's had a new motor transmission rear end been lifted with 33 12.50 15 tires with Confederate flags 😁

@@greenbandit3132 Mine is stock, regular cab and about as base as you could get. No frills at all, hand window cranks, etc. I did add a new stereo to it and new door speakers last year but that was only so I could play CD's in it as the oem radio was just that, a radio, lol. Not sure what color you'd call it as if it's cloudy out it looks almost navy blue but if it's sunny out it looks purple. I did buy a 60 gallon 2 stage air compressor last year with the intention of "re-painting" it with colored Raptor bedliner but haven't gotten around to doing that just yet.

In my truck if any window or door stays open and when i press lock my horn beep twice with a pause this means something is not locked and once it's locked the horn beep once that means all good. But good to know about penny thing.

It's not day one you have to worry about. It's the third day when you're parked in the same spot at work. Your rear passenger door has been open for two days, and you've already displayed that you're a creature of habit.
