I moved from California to North Carolina the end of 2023. I bought a wonderful property to be self sufficient in the country about 25 minutes outside the city. I have to sell and move now unfortunately. I came alone and my health has become a problem. It is too much. After watching this video I am going to look at the property I've seen for over a year. It is a church with 2 houses and I want to open a community center and homeless shelter. I have worked with the homeless population and people with severe mental illness. I do not regret being here. I got here by faith and this what God has been putting it on my heart to do. I don't know how the property would fully be utilized yet but I am going to step out. God bless you all. God bless you both for sharing and sincerely caring. You never know how God will touch someone through what you say. Thanks for nudging to act on that pressing feeling. You guys are awesome.

My husband and I used to garden and have chickens. I canned our garden produce. Then we moved into town and were both busy with our jobs, and much of that fell by the wayside for a time. I retired, and we began gardening and canning again. Now, my husband is gone, but my son helps me garden, and I still can. So, in our own way, we’ve been “homesteading”, canning, preserving, and keeping a large pantry for most of the last 53 years. I would love to live on a farm as I did as a child but, at 72, I don’t think I’m up for that big of a challenge by myself. I would love to have chickens again, but they are not allowed according to our town fathers, although there are a lot of people pressuring them for it to change.

Im 70 and my husband and i live on a small 15 acre farm. We consider downsizing but what then. I love trying new things and we are constantly working to be prepared for whatever. Never give up until we are at the end of our journey here on earth

Do you have animals? That’s what we struggle with, we are in our late 50’s. Do we downsize from our 10-acre hobby farm, but then what do we do? Do we get more animals as they die or do we scale down.

I have to say the the word homestead has bothered me since I first started hearing about it. That is how we always have lived from the day we got married. My husband grew up on a dairy farm/ranch. My mom and sister raised gardens. After I got married I learned to can and we had chickens and raised steers. We didn't call it homesteading back then, it was just the way we lived. We don't have chickens and goats anymore and our nephew pays us in beef for using our land. We still raise a garden and I still love to can. I just canned 7 quarts and 9 pints of beef a few days ago along with ten pints of beans. Then Winco had their blackberries on sale 12 oz for .98. I told my husband "I just can't pass this up". I got 19 pints. I love blackberries, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries so I don't pass up a bargain on any of those. Our strawberries are on now but the birds keep eating them. It will be quite a while before we get raspberries and I hope they don't eat those too. Best of luck with your knew venture.

I’m soooooo excited to see the book finished. I have an 11 yo granddaughter and great nieces that are 6 1/2 and 9 ish. And neighbor siblings that are 6 and 9 ish. ❤

I don't have many meats to come by. so I get that from thrive life. Most of my veggies are small, and not enough to really can, but its a start. Getting enough land cleared from my back yard (previous owner threw tires lots of glass and other JUNK you can't really burn), So I can till it down and get it ready for next year. Spending a LOT of time when its not so hot out to keep what I have alive, including chickens so I can save more money. I don't get a lot of help family wise and it can get a bit overwhelming cause I can't take a break if I wanted to, and have to solve THEIR issues not just mine, its getting on my nerves.

I had to leave my 25 acers farm due to sone health issues my animals are on a friend's have to be in a apartment in town for now but did manage a small but decent garden all in garden boxes but it's doing well by tge grace of God to me there us no excise to not do all you can I am trying to help my neighbors on fixing items with stuff you already have to save them money and helping a farmer learn how to hatch turkey eggs helping others is getting me through my hard time right now guess it was God's plan for me right now not say I am not heart broken over not having my animals with me do have my dog kitties and my bird though

Your book sounds very interesting. Congratulations on your new venture through the Lord. I am learning to use some blessings, i use to curse, through the Lord's guidance. (Burdock gets those giant sand burs that get onto everything and hard to get out of hair, act like slivers in the skin and most of us know the unpleasant touch of stinging nettle). Dehydrating stinging nettle, plantain, and trying to dig up burdock root. All edible, super nutritional, and medicinal. They can build the immune system. All God given free blessings that i didn't know before. God is wonderful and we realize more, when we listen and want to be truly obedient. God bless everyone and Glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
