Didn’t realize it, but yes, I’ve had that belief that I am going to be “great”. Thank you for planting the seeds that are slowly helping me understand that I’ll have to work really hard for it. I’m going to go do some work now. Thanks, Tim!

I think Unkle Adams (Awful rapper) suffers with this problem, he's 200k in dept chasing his dreams of becoming a millionaire, getting a big studio etc. but he doesn't take his work seriously day to day, hence why he's racked up so much debt. I'm struggling with this problem currently, I want to be an indie game dev; I'm a 3d artist/animator primarily, and I've been told that I should just focus on that, but in my head it feels like a sacrifice. Also, I've started getting serious about planning out and breaking down what I want, but often my ideas and plans are a mess and I end up confusing myself with them more than helping guide myself in a certain route. I think my biggest issue is that I will continue working on my daily todos until they're done, even if it takes me into the AM hours (which means I get little sleep, have to wake up for work and feel like shit the next day) which affects my performance the next day, and the cycle continues. I've got my ideas organized as follows- I have my daily todos whiteboard, and one for the month. I made a Trello to summarize my goals at like a high level- but I can't seem to stick to a project for more than a month or so. Earlier this year I gave myself 4 projects and tried to stick to them: modelling an office interior, sculpting a character, rigging it and getting it into unreal engine, studying anatomy so I can make decent characters, and working on a game... I gave up with the office scene because it bored me, am still studying anatomy/drawing regularly but I gave up on my original intention of producing a book to help others... My game project confused the hell out of me because I don't know much in game engines or programming at all, but this is still what I feel most passionately about working on... I put working on my game on pause for a while and haven't done much coding for a month or two... my character project looks ugly as hell and I work on it rather infrequently, I don't have any deadlines. This was probably a mess to read but I'm just trying to put my struggles out there, how can I improve in all the areas I desire (anatomy, animation, programming, game engines, graphic design, 3d modelling/texturing) with my limited free time, in a way that is healthy and efficient, gets me where I wanna be in decent time without going mad with stress?

I used to have such thoughts. Kept shifting the deadline in my case, trying many things to reach that goal, until today. 35 and no better off. Took a lot of reflection in what the next 30 years of my life should be like and really thinking about goals that are realistic and grounded, besides doing the work. One of the things I want to do are video games, and so far you’re the only one who doesn’t sugar coat anything while giving the actionable insights (like exposure via your own platform)

I used to think this way. Not that i was going to be a millionaire but a recognized artist. I spent years being cool hanging with cool people and dating. But if an opportunity rarely presented itself i didn't have anything to share. Just some sketches and drawings. Then i turned "seriousness" up a notch and participated in art shows in the underground district until i made it (with a couple of friends) into the most important/mainstream art show/convention of my country and the continent. I was even being invited to some official national institution shows. Because i was "emergent". But my art was kinda bad. It was mainly postmodern trash. All this time i had it in the back of my mind that i wanted to do fun things. Video games. I didn't want to accept it. I thought it was crazy (I live in a country in which it's easier to be a "fine" artist than a video game dev) And i struggled with the idea. I even designed and sold some "designer resin figures" during that short fad lol. Those years weren't completely wasted. I learned a lot about how to make good art. Now, I'm working on a game. I learned from you about "vertical slices" (i used to call them demos, but vertical slice is much more accurate to what it needs to be) and I'm taking it seriously. Despite what some of the people close to me think about this. I think i can make a great game. I know it. And this isn't a fantasy. I've learned enough to know i can. I just have to sit on my ass and do the work. And I'm doing it. I used to think i was destined to be recognized. Today i know i can do great work. And that's very different. And your videos really help me keep going. Thanks a bunch Tim i really appreciate it and know that you are helping a lot of people out there.

I struggled with my weight all my life (even as playing professional basketball) my until i decided i want to feel proud when i take off my shirt and i am going to do everything it takes! So started to run and lift weights and eat right for 6 months and my life got turned upside around. Things become fun and easy! i went into bodybuilding and found the awesomeness of myself, become a coach and now i found out that working out is the base of my happiness and calmness. I am not a professional bodybuilder but i am very proud of taking my shirt off anytime :) Game dev is one of my life's passions i decided to go for and make a career doing it and now learning daily C# and unity - Nothing is impossible! :) Thanks for the video man!

Funny that a video with a title like this always pops up when I'm procrastinating.. Also what you are talking about is what bothers me about "Law of Attraction". I believe that it is important to visualize your goals and believe in them but only with that you won't get anywhere. Thanks for reminding me to take action

So basically to become rich (or better to say: at least be able to afford things you want) one should think as a programmer, i guess :) Your life or your goal is like a task and you as a programmer have to split your way to it into smaller steps. And one may not be a programmer, but definitely thinking as a programmer is a good start. Vision - thought - actions. Keep it up, man! Like your channel!

I'm not only starting to take it more seriously now than ever, but I'm actually viewing it as work, even though I'm not getting paid to do it yet, I'm investing a lot of time and energy into this and I have to start viewing it as work. And to answer your question, I've had the "I'm going to be great", aka "terminal uniqueness" shit pop up in my life many times. I've replaced it with "I'm going to try and be better tomorrow than I was today.", or something along the lines of that. Good stuff!! Very though provoking, and from the comments I've seen, rang pretty true with quite a few of us here!!

0:15 I definitely wanted to become a musician It was almost impossible because the dream was so big I didn't see any chance because I was living in a little town, I was studying And when I finally broke away from school and became I musician I thought "well I may have a bit of a chance" Because all I every wanted to do is music but not only play music But compose music At that time, in Germany, in 1969-70, they already had discotheques So I would take my car and go to a discotheque and sing maybe 30 minutes I think I had about 7-8 songs. I would partially sleep in the car Because I didn't want to drive home and that help me for about almost 2 years to survive In the beginning, I wanted to do a album with the sound of the 50s, The sound of the 60s, of the 70s and then have a sound of the future And I said: "Wait a second I know the synthesizer, why don't I use the synthesizer Which is the sound of the future" And I didn't have any idea what to do but I knew I needed a click So we put a click on the 24 track which was then synch to the moog modular I knew that it could be a sound of the future But I didn't realize how much impact it would be My name is Giovanni Giorgio, but everybody calls me Giorgio ~synth leads play in the background~

I think my problem is that I can't resolve myself to deceive people .. Whenever my gf tell me she wanna spend all day with me, or my friend wanna hang out, or my family want to see me, I say yes because I don't want to be that guy that never do anything and got rejected but inside of me I just wanna stay home and code. I'm trying to learn C++ and UE4 since 2 weeks now and I couldn't manage to stay on it .. Or am I just a fucking lazyass ?

Hey Tim, I am currently working on a game where the player makes a series of choices and the game reacts to those choices. I game is based off the idea of "Life is about choices and the consequenes of those choices". Both the player and the computer makes a series of choices through out the players experice of playing the game. Even I don't know how the computer will react. Please give me your thoughts on a game like this. One day when I am ready maybe you will have the time to play the game when I am finished. I am just at the beginning of this game now. Again Please give me your thoughts... thanks.

You do have to really belief but take action. Massive action! And above all FOCUS. Follow One Course Until Success. Easier said than done but learn from this better than you, learn from their mistakes and success. Just keep at it and be consistent. It will pay off on the long run. Feel just like you. Keep up the good work and thank you for your videos and sharing your wisdom and feelings.

Your past few videos are making me feel i should be creating youtube videos and interacting alot more building an audience. My question to you is, how much are your current daily videos detracting from concentrating on your game? like is most of your day planning videos or do you take a like a quick break, whip up a video and then continue with work? I can see that you feel this is worth while investment of your time and im super grateful that you are taking the time. Just wondering how much of an investment of time this is for you

Hey Tim, this message felt more cynical that usual. I want to encourage you to try to stay positive. Maybe you didn't get your dreams at 26 because like sucks or whatever or maybe it didn't happen because there was still doubt and obstacles in your mind that didn't allow you to really embrace success. I'd recommend other videos you made to the Tim that made this video because IMO you are much more on point when talking about focusing on growth and goals than this video which seems to suggest "even if you are passionate and dedicated about a goal you might not get it". Maybe that's true, but I think the toxic doubt brings us down much more than reality stepping on true unwavering conviction and hope.
@JustinSixVideos
@JustinSixVideos 6 лет назад
esotericVideos I think you missed his point. He's not saying that if your passionate and work towards something you will fail - more to be realistic and realize to acheive any significamt goal or dream there's a lot more steps and work that go into getting it than you'd think and if you really want it - you need to first realize exactly what it is you need to do and then do all of it consistently - including the stuff you won't be passionate about.
