*People dont understand that the prices of things are never going back down. This inflation is deeper than we think. Those buying groceries are well aware that the real inflation is much over 10%. The increments dont match our income, yet certain investors still earn over $365,000 in stocks and assets. Wish I could accomplish that.*

Most companies don't create requirements for jobs and metrics to determine if a job is being done well or not. This problem is handled in project management best practices. Unfortunately, most managers are never taught how to manage projects. They are taught to specialize in an operation.

I remember the boss told me I had to get and employee to learn our shoe storage system at a shoe store or she’d be fired. I was an assistant manager at the time. I freaked out for a day. Looking at the employee newsletter I saw that this employee was TOP SALESPERSON in the state!!!😮 I used that to inspire her by praising her in front of everyone. Then encouraged to learn our organization system so she could be even better in sales. Magic. Everyone was happy. Nobody got fired. She never even knew anything negative at all. In the end it was wholesome and not a traumatic life experience for any of us. She quickly learned the system and the boss wanted to know how did I get her to improve so quickly. ❤

It's very challenging, the people side. Feels like babysitting. "I really need this person in that role, even if they're only producing at 65%. It's not easy finding people." If you have the financial means, you 1) have more runway where a position can stay vacant 2) and you can be picky Most businesses don't have that. Flip side is with customers. "The CAC is high, I have 10% of my customers I'd like to replace with better customers, but I'm keeping them. The CAC is high." Best business might be a hedge fund. Very few staff. Or a mortgage broker or real estate broker (self-motivated staff). One solution is "employee owned business" where the employees gradually, incrementally, accrue a larger ownership stake and in the meantime, wow they keep themselves on point. Self-reinforcing 'best employee behavior' because they're partial owners. "People is hard" .

Great video! Just a quick note regarding the statistic you mentioned about business failure rates. While it's commonly believed that 50% fail within the first 2 years, it's actually closer to 20% in that timeframe. It's 45% within the first five years and 65% within the first 10 years. Exciting news! I can't wait for you to join me for the premiere of my video on April 15th!

Yes, they just say go do your job. That is the WORST motivation. Literally why I left a lot of start ups! What is also forgotten, I notice, is that the boss ALSO needs to be held accountable to their business. So if their shit is not in order, how the hell should you do your job with half the tools. I feel like a lot of start ups end due to the tasks then ending up shitty, because resources are not there and a lot of them want to play boss and have the authority, but when it comes down to actually doing the work for that leadership, it's just not done. I could go on and on, unclear metrics - that is another thing start ups do ALL THE TIME!!! Or vague metrics. I have worked for three and they had all the issues mentioned and all went down or just did not go anywhere.
