This could also happen if your console is very dusty or makes a bad connection somewhere. Had this same effect on my PC once.

I have one of the newer models from 2022 June and have noticed artifacting on certain games (mostly all of them like Mafia 2 biggest example) are PS4 ported or definitive /revamped games. I have never had this specific issue on actual AAA PS4 or PS5 titles. So I think also this could be due to the actual games in question and the backwards compatibility etc, basically an array of issues not specific to the PS5 itself but rather the compatibility of some games and the GPU. You see it a lot with newer high end PCS where for example my PC is a high end gaming PC that runs Cities Skylines 2, yet stick in Theme Hospital and it doesn't work to the point the PC loses the concept of reality itself lol. I have noticed my PS5 will run GPU/CPU extensive titles perfectly fine as far as I can tell yet suffers on some (not all) of the backwards compatible or remasters. I panicked when Mafia 2 Definitive Edition had obvious graphical issues alongside hard game crashing (the artifacts were noticeable) above the steam coming from the sewers, white light flashing above certain bright snow/dark backgrounds etc. yet Ghost recon Breakpoint and any other game no issues, not even a single hard crash. I don't think it is everyone's GPU and in most instances the games just runs like trash on the PS5 and the devs will never fix it. Not a biggy when the games a free subscription title, but it's a big deal if someone has paid for the game and it's priced around the £50 mark. Obviously now I will be paranoid to see if any of my other games start doing this, if they do new PS5 it is as I have 3 year warranty.

So glad mine did that right out of the box so they had to fix it inside warranty immediately. Pretty fast turnaround also. Had it back in about a week, if I recall correctly.

That happened to me but on a PS3 that was recently released in the Slim version in 2009. I spent almost 3 months without the console to be able to validate the guarantee.

My PS5 is less than a month old and it does two things badly... Charging the controller (it just doesn't, unless I unplug the cable from the console and plug it in again) and whenever I play the remakes of Resident Evil games and my character gets grabbed, during this animation it fills the screen with cubes of static, like a mesh screen...

Can you do a teardown guide for the 1215A model? I know the screw layout is different and I would love to take it apart w/o disturbing the liquid metal to clean the power supply vents as you did in the video 3 weeks ago. Thanks for the content 🙏

Should I be worried? On start up my PS5 sounds like a VW diesel, then goes quiet at home screen, but becomes a diesel again when loading a game, I have a disc PS5

My launch edition ps5 started having problems a few weeks ago where textures got replaced by bright lights in game, flashing cubes on game hom screen. I tried everything before contacting Sony who then informed me my gpu on console was on its way out. Wouldn't even load graphic intensive games because of that. Ended up buying a new console.

Mine had this issue but it refused to play PS5 games and would only play PS4 ones I had to return the console in warranty and now I have one of the newer updated models.

I have a launch console, and I've never had static lines or any graphical issues. However, the PS5 will just randomly crash on start-up. Sometimes a few seconds after going to home. I've used two different TV's, and both times it would do the same thing, albeit not as much on my much newer TV. I've reset the PS5 twice fully, but never did a Default Settings reset so I may try that. Oddly enough, my PS5 has a strange issue, or it did, where PS4 games would just crash the system. I haven't played any PS4 games on it recently, but it did it a lot when I first tried.

Got my ps5 the day of release and it runs like a top, zero issues.

Mine was actually like this from day 1… Sony fixed it, sent it back, and now it runs well. Despite the fact they returned it to me with scuff marks 😒

What if the HDMI port was recently broken and you recently had it fixed and somehow you were trying to force the HDMI cable in order to work properly

I have a ps5 with the Sony Inzone M9, everytime I turn it on it says checking for signal for like 30 seconds before it turns on, is something wrong with the monitor or the system?

I thought my ps5 was broken after noticing it had tiny bit of lag every minute or so. I switched to another tv the EXACT same, nothing. I then switched to another tv, this time 4k, NO PROBLEM! Anyone know whats going on? It’s one of those budget 1080p TCL Roku tvs. And yes, I factory reset it and turned “game mode” On and off.

Had mine since launch & the only issue I ever had was some slight artifacting in Sekiro on 1 or 2 walls. It was related to the lowest GPU Vram module (lowest as in , closest to the power supply when stood up ) not getting enough cooling. I think it was something they patched out with a fan speed update, but I also swapped out the stock plates for the better Dbrand darkplates with the fan cutout & started taking it apart to clean out any dust once a month with a blower. Haven't had a single issue with heat management or the GPU since & it'll be 3 years old in November.

Couldn’t you also just capture the gameplay and see if it shows up in the recording? If there’s artifacts in the recording, it’s your gpu, if not it’s a display issue.

My launch ps5 stopped playing ps5 games just before the first year was up. Ps4 games worked great. It was replaced and now only shuts down if full of dust. I keep it clean now and I have no issues!

Bruh this happened to me, though it was just my tv settings 💀I had all sorts of lines only when my ps5 was on but it was like something ig with game mode display settings on my tv was off since I have a Roku

So, if you change the HDMI cable and use a different HDMI port (which, by the way changing two things at once is terrible troubleshooting but I digress), it points to the HDMI port on the PS5 being bad? What about the cable being bad? What about the port on the TV being bad? A better test is to replace the HDMI cable into the SAME port on the TV, and if that doesn't fix it then move the new cable to a known good port. If the issue is still there then you could maybe blame the PS5 port.

Play PS five for started shut down randomly if I’m paying Jedi survivor, maybe after 30 minutes and it won’t turn on again until I am plugged it back in. It says PlayStation was turned off incorrectly so I have to rebuild an external hard drive. I don’t really want to keep doing this and the controller flashes blue not sure what that means. Is this happening to anyone else?

Just had this happen to my launch version of PS5. Did all the safe mode factory restarts and the issue still persisted. Ended up contacting PlayStation and telling them I had a GPU issue. They told me it was out of warranty but I could pay $220 plus shipping to send it in for repair. They said to expect an email within 24 hours which I have yet to receive 48 hours later… just purchased a new digital only version and have no issues. Not sure if I want to call PlayStation again and deal with their shit just to be able to pay $250 to get it repaired.

I saw this happening once or twice but it always went away after restart of tv itself and changing the cable it never happened again. I think that problem with mine was with cable, thankfully. I might as well just throw console in a bin, if I get this because it's no longer inside the warranty.

I had a similar issue with my Series X, but it fixed by unplugging and plugging the HDMI cable.

My ps5 only artifacts when i try to use 120 fps mode and i have to keep switching it on and off until it stops glitching. It might just be an issue with my tv but idk. But thats the only issue i have with it

I had a PS3 Super Slim model have the same problems and wasn't able to save it unfortunately as it completely died on me.

I really think you dropped the ball on this video. I’m in the game console repair business and have seen exactly 1 suspected GPU failure. The first few minutes of the video and the advice about using remote play to diagnose GPU issues are good. When you start getting into trying different cables/ ports on the tv though you are completely ignoring the 800LB gorilla in the room and that is the very common issue of the port on the console having faulty solder joints even if the port is fine which is also prone to breaking. Hopefully you’ll address that in a follow up video

I have red and green squares all over when i play spiderman 2 and onlt that game. I have no idea why but its literally only that one game. It looks like red and green flickering Christmas lights all over the skyscraper windows and some parts of the suits. In cut scenes everyones pupils look like black holes as well. Idk what to do ive tested it on a new monitor and hdmi cable, uninstalled and reinstalled, clear the systemd cache, tried multiple discs and digital copies and its still all the same. Im just playing through it put it visually is terrible to see flickering red and geeen squares all over the buildings and cars and just about everywhere else

I have my ps5 since july 2021 and still going strong no issues. I only noticed my disc drive is somewhat slower needs cleaning perhaps but i dont use discs so im preety satisfied. Those were still same as launch models btw

I have been getting weird glitches in my ps5 and it crashes a lot when I do lots of commands on Skyrim and last of us I suppose it’s because it’s just old and generally don’t try and worry about it much cause this would happen in ps4 I think at least it doesn’t happen ever out side the program it just crashes normally and kicks me out the application so I think it’s normal

When I turn my on, it makes a sound like it boots up, then sounds as if it fails, and then wires up again and works, does that mean anything? No performance issues but that it takes two tries to boot itself.
