Thanks gavin for a great review I think you have just solved the problem why my hip dac crackels so much when it's plugged in to my phone. I think I will definitely have to invest in one of these

This actually works, though if you have an already relatively clean setup, you'll only get about 5 dB reduction on the noise floor.

Nice video on impressions. I own iFi isilencer(first version), iFi iPurifier 2, and Audioquest jitterbug. From my experience they all murder the treble, kill the sound stage, very vocal focused, and make the mids bloated. I am still very hesitated to try anymore usb filters. I ended up using Würth Elektronik USB 2.0 filter and it is only $20. It changes the sound in a more subtle way: it only off the treble a bit and made vocals more stand out, and warmer. You really should try iFi iSilencer+ off and on more and make an update. I think you like sound because it is different, but after a while you will get fatigue from it.

In my experience the first ifi isilencer did not impact any frequency range at all, it just made the sound better by lowering the noise floor. On the other hand, I did not like the effect of the AQ Jitterbug.

Gavin excellent review of the iSilencer+ v2. My set up: iMac>Ifi Mercury3.0 audio cable>Ifi iPurifer3>ZenDac>Schiit Herisey>OlloS4X and DT 1990 Pro headphones. Me: Retired musician budding audiophile. Problem: What sounds like white noise under music from headphones. No buzzing, popping, hum, hiss, from phones. No audible noise coming from phones even at max volume without music playing. With music playing the noise start. It is most noticeable during soft passages. Loud music covers the noise but is still present. What do you think it could be? Would the iSilencer help?

Interesting setup. If you plug your Beyers into your iMac directly, does the noise still occur ?

I have the Orange-Coloured one of these where you need a Separate PSU if you are plugging Bus-Powered devices into it, and it really does make a difference. I use it with my Arturia Minifuse Audio Interface (a piece of Recording Gear for Musicians) to record into a DAW Software (Logic Pro, Cubase, Ableton etc)… & it has opened up the soundstage, making my iTunes Music Library sound even better! It can also solve Ground-Loop problems too where there’s Hum & Buzzing noise. I just use a Standard iPhone Charger plugged into a filtered Extension Socket to power it, and that is where the power comes from in this case instead of from your Computer! I have a pair of Linsoul KZ-ZS10 Pro IEMS that have balanced Armatures + a dedicated Dynamic driver for Bass and these sound realky nice when paired with this USB Filtered setup!

Would my Ifi Zen V2 DAC benefit from Ifi Silencer? I am not sure if Ifi implemented Silencer inside this DAC but I doubt.

The best option is their iPower X which is what I use with it.

I enjoyed the video so much I ordered one up. My results are so different that I've been questioning my ears, my setup and the device. My setup, hip dac - i Silencer + - Mac (static setup). I see a reddish led on the iSilencer+ . Not sure if the reddish color should change to blue ? I'm wondering if all your IEM's and headphones are just more sensitive to what I'm calling a nuance change to be polite. You mentioned to great effect. Do you have any $100 IEM's or headphone to test ? Maybe I'm doing something wrong or quality control problems. Any suggestions.

Hi Bruce. Thanks for your feedback. I tested with a range of headphones and price ranges. The differences will vary depending on how much noise there is in your electricity etc. If you have a cleaner supply the differences will be less noticeable. Same for the internals on your Mac. I also tried several different hardware devices and got a few friends to compare as well.

@@GavinsGadgets its seems to have stopped now. I have it going from my PC to my Mixer. But, it doesn't seem to fit as well in the rear USB C spot as it does in the front.
