Join PW has he indulges his inner "jetty rat" and fishes the Mornington Peninsulas beautiful Mornington Pier. Targeting the tasty garfish! He makes a few friends along the way as well!
Hey Paul my plan was to head down to Mornington pier for garfish wensday I just wanted to asked what tides do u go on and does it matter? Also what Berley where u using
I was at Mallacoota last week and used burley to bring the gars out but the buggers wouldn’t bite, tried moving the bait, prawn, but they weren’t having any of it. Oh yeah, I think you spoke to my wife at the pub too, she probably told you how she catches all of the fish😳😀
I do remember a lady telling me she always out fishes her husband.... ha ha! With the gars try to use as lighter leader as possible (4lb or 6lb) and be sure to use a tiny split-shot sinker 15cm above the bait to really get your bait down in the gars face! Good luck!
Hi, I live in the city in melbourne and i just wanted to ask, what is the closest pier that you can catch garfish at? Is it mornington pier or are there piers closer to the cbd that hold garfish? Also is there another bait i can use instead of maggots😂? Thank you and great video!!!!!!👍
G'day Greg, you can catch garfish through out the whole bay, try St Kilda rock walls, or the pier near Black Rock, even off the beach near the Port Melbourne. Another bait would be tiny pieces of fresh peeled prawns or bread, just remember to burley! GOOD LUCK!
Do you know any places around Williamstown or even further to catch some garfish, my dads always talking about how good tasting they are and I want to test em, Thanks. Also would they take a running sinker with a shank hook and some pippies on or is there something else you’d reccomend.
