Join me LIVE as we fly our first ever Virtual 737 Max! I have logged a little over 300 hours on the 737 Max series, I’d like to thank the team at Flight One Software for given early access to the the iFly 737 Max 8.
Whilst this stream is not a formal review, I have been given free rein to give opinions and observations of their aircraft. We’ll be conducting a test sector from London Stansted (EGSS) to Dublin (EIDW).

The primary purpose of this stream is to give you the opportunity to see how a Real 737 Captain operates a desktop simulated aircraft in real time using real world operating procedures.
Whilst every effort is made to accurately replicate the way the aircraft is flown based on my experience as a Training Captain and Type Rating Instructor, this is purely for entertainment only.

@@bennymt07 PMDG’s 737 is far more complete but that has seen constant improvements since release. The MAX has a really good foundation to build on, work to do but out the box it’s very good. 👍🏻

You can also add to the cabin that window shades can be lowered, door slides can be armed, and emergency exit lights can be tested with full cabin lighting controls.

Cool video great to see Ifly have converted the excellent Max from P3D where it was my favourite 737 in that sim. Some info 787 screens are significantly different with a far superior VSD to the Max along with the Mini map which is a handy tool. We would never fly without the VSD up as the 787 vsd unlike the 737 one has SO much more information that flying without it id never consider. Kind of like the 787 HUD again far more advanced than the NG a great tool for visual approaches and low vis. Surprised you guys dont use IAn. It builds the final approach path back from a 50’ crossing height to the critical limiting step then allows yiu to fly it exactly like an ILS except you get Glidepath not Glideslope. Game changer for all non precision approaches so good Airbus are trying to copy it. LOC, Vors, Ndb aporoaches have never been so easy. Enjoy the Max its a great addon great demo flight!

@@Scarebus_Driver thanks again for your input. I think IAN is an expensive investment for an airline and to be fair, VNAV does a really good job in flying the correct vertical profile on all the aforementioned non-ILS approaches. 👍🏻

As cabin crew on this bird, I am absolutely gobsmacked. Even the playcard to dry the sink for the next passenger is bang on, the ACP (attendant control panel) is modelled perfectly, PS FD2S if you want the maint password I can give you it if you like🤣, at our operator anyway. You can change the cabin lighting colours ect on the maint subsection (only on the ground ). The door arming is just ridiculous also. Could probably train CC using this model🤣 Honestly wow, incredible. Thanks for the video

The fact that the deadband is modelled on takeoff is music to my ears. PMDG have absolutely zero deadband modelled so takeoff feels like you’re rotating with zero resistance. Because I fly the NG, I’m hoping these guys consider an NG version at some point.

@@FlyingInFocus it’s not super pronounced as like in the real aircraft but there was a requirement to increase back pressure at around 10-11 degrees. Whether that was just one off or there is a loss of airflow over the horizontal stab, I don’t know! Need to have more of a play!

So sad I missed it, but I’ll catch up watching the video. Thank you for all your efforts you had in the last years, I learned a lot from you. Maybe I’ll become an Alpaca Airways member in the future for a group flight, but then I would have to leave IVAO, which I can’t see coming to be honest. Loyalty is a virtue. VNAV is definitely better on the PMDG NG737 at the moment. I hope they get it right for the release. For me a working VNAV-Mode is important in a single pilot flightsim environment.

Never would I think iFly would beat out pmdg. This is what happens when you think you’re untouchable. It’s ridiculous we still have low res textures in the pmdg 737 cockpit. Don’t get me wrong pmdg still looks good, but this is better.

Can we access and view chart pdf:s stored on a local disk in the flypad? That functionality is inside the Flybywire A32NX flypad and great for us who download and save the charts on disk.

Thank you for demonstrating the Max. The fact that your sim was stuttering with fps at times on the ground, with your rig, doesn’t give me hope for the performance I would manage on mine. Would you suggest the PMDG/Zibo are more performance friendly? It may be improved over time mind you.

He mentioned he's using DX12. Apparently the devs told him to do so. Ass backwards decision because the sim suffers significantly with that API and not DX11.

Is that preference or company policy? Any reason why the full ND display wouldn't be the preferred arrangement for the pilot flying? thanks as always

The lighting on the overhead is always done incorrectly. It's more orange but they make it yellow on the sim

the throttle immediately spooling up is not an MSFS issue cause on the PMDG 737 there is a throttle delay

@@denziiey although not as bad it’s too fast in the PMDG 737 as well, I was told it’s not an issue with PMDG but a limitation within MSFS as it only allows for a linear thrust curve.

No no, I am referring to the timing between response and how the engines react. iFly- Far too Quick PMDG - too Quick It’s slow to 40% and then quicker to accelerate once above around 35% N1

@denziiey High-bypass turbines at ground idle are just slow to respond as they’re not running efficiently, there's a lot of inertia to overcome and fuel is introduced slowly to ensure it doesn’t overheat (as engine is running slowly and there’s low airflow). When up to speed and there’s sufficient airflow fuel can be introduced quicker so the engine reacts a lot quicker. All controlled by a clever EEC.

@53:25, devs told you to use DX12? The sim suffers significantly when using that API. That's a serious let down they told you to use that. The sim was never designed around DX12 initially and the current implementation is a beta. Most people encounter higher VRAM usage, more stutters and inconsistent performance as a result. Do you know if this will run fine with DX11? Honestly I'm assuming this was being built for MSFS 2024 if they went the DX12 Route. No release date yet because 2024 is a month away. That's ALSO a shame because 2024 will definitely require months of patches to be viable and in a stable state.

Excuse my lack of computer literacy but yes, I was advised to use DX12. I haven't/didn't experience any stutters, high VRAM usage or inconsistent performance during tests and this stream. FD2S

That one is stolen and is basically a pig with cosmetics. Nothing about it is MAX except the engine and winglet 3d model and the large tv on the cockpit. Just that. At the root, it's a NG, not MAX.
