Ostapenko, 5th straight win over Swiatek. She's the only player on the tour who can stand head-to-head consistently against Iga on the baseline, and belt out winners. Super match.
No stops, no shorts, no loops, nothing, only power. Iga have to Kern to Play like Radwańska, but...i think she will never learn that. This is to less for Wimbledon and this is very boring.
The best game I've ever seen Ostapenko play. I haven't see all of them but wow! She got rid of a lot of unforced errors and her hitting decisions kept Swiatek off balance most of the time. Power and accuracy.
When Ostapenko is in this mode only few players can beat her. Iga did so well to make it a contest by winning the critical points. Otherwise Jelena bullied her most of the match.,
Elena rarely gets the credit she rightfully deserves. She is one of the purist ball strikers in the WTA. Iga rushes most of the field, but Elena counters with more accurate power and accuracy. She is definitely in Iga's head.
Aggression seems to be the winning factor. The more aggressive the player, the more points they win. Ostapenko was aggressive throughout. Iga was not that aggressive until 1:3 in the third set, and then again at 4:5. When she got aggressive, she started winning point. IMO aggression improves the score-line; improved score-line improves confidence, and improved confidence further improves the score-line.
Either way you see it this is a bad match-up for Iga. Swiatek's game complements Ostapenko's shots to a TEE!! Jelena Looks forward to challenging Iga any time they meet on the court. This is 5 straight wins for Jelena against Iga. Ostapenko has never lost to Iga on the tour. 5 and 0 and counting!
Pozdro 🤓👍🤪
Until Iga generates pace off her strokes from her core and arms instead of the shoulders, it will be very difficult for her to absorb the shock of penko’s flat and heavy ground strokes. That’s why oskapenko keeps beating her .
