great video !! I honestly appreciate you going through the whole experience of putting these devices together, and the size comparison was huge. It’s definitely a quality but hefty fridge, but doesn’t draw too much power so it’s super nice! will definitely buy one now. question: can you fit more non-compact things like a Yeti? how heavy can it get with things in it?

The cooler itself weighs about 64lbs with nothing inside of it. I do wish I had some wheels to be able to cart it around, but it definitely feels the the plastic is made of high quality

It will use less power when full and also precooled. I got 36 hours out of my River Max (576Wh) on a DC compressor fridge set to 4 C. Ambient temps inside were 20-22 c The fridge I use is an Alpicool 25K

@NuReviews-DIY Месяц назад
That is correct! If it’s prechilled, it will draw less power, and ambient temperature plays a huge role. Size of your cooler will also be a factor on battery life. Bigger cooler, will draw more power

I Dont use this for camping i use it for regular grocery trips where i shop multiple stores and my food stays cold the whole time im out. Since cars dont come with freezers this will have to do.

I have the same ecoflow. Your test would be far more accurate if it was filled with drinks and food. Thermal mass makes a big difference and you will see the compressor run far less.

Yes you are right! It was just a test I did at home to see if it would work for my upcoming camping trip. My part 3 video does show me putting some food items inside of it. You always need to take ambient temperature into consideration as well. Summers here in California can get up to 100F so I’ll make another video testing it when I’m out camping.

I’m curious will a 100w solar panel with a river 2 non pro will be enough to keep the igloo cooler going overnight? And used for a week or a weekend trip? Debating if I should upgrade to the river 2 pro with a setup like yours…

If you are planning to run a fridge and charge up other devices, I would say go at least river 2 pro max (500w capacity) over just the river 2 (256w). River 2 pro gives you 768w capacity, so that would be about 3x the size of your river 2. So based on my tests and it’ll probably give you approx. 8 hours continuous power before it dies (depending on weather), but your solar panels will help (assuming there is sun). You also have to remember if you use 110w panels, you may not always get the full 110w, 22% of loss energy is normal so you may be brining in only 80w or around there. It all comes down to your cooler and how much energy it uses and what other appliances you see planning on running. Hope this helps

I planning to get the same cooler you have, as my local Costco has the same one for $699 also. Maybe it will be better just to get the river pro 2…

So does this have its own built in battery also? Or does it have to be plugged into a power source?
@NuReviews-DIY

Has to be plugged in a power source, either DC or AC

It would be interesting to see if your math matches a real world test. Fully charged battery, some stuff in the cooler, and see how long it runs without being charged.
