Dang, I scrolled through the comments and just noticed that I also clicked this video to see if my button quials would respond and its accurate! lol🤣🤣🤣
When I played this, my quail, which I assumed was female because no white bib, started making mating calls back! And the one I assumed was male, because white bib, makes this exact call, so maybe it's a female? Lol, we're all mixed up here.
I feel like the internet hasn't a clue as we are so confused about the sex of our 3 month old quails! 😂 Although 3 definitely crow and one "laughs" so I'm going to go off that!
if you're around give me a hand. I bought a pair of King quail yesterday as pets. I thought it male is the one that makes calls but the apparently suppose to be the female one was making this exact call in the morning and afternoon. Just like a rooster would so I suspect it was a male aswell but now I see your video and yours was female I'm confused. the male one actually made no noise at all so far.
Just a question, mine just started doing this after being silent for so long. can you tell me why they call? Is it because they're lonely or looking for a mate? She is a sole quail because her mate and another pair tried to kill her after a move from a breeder to a store. I've had her a few weeks, as she's recovering from her injuries. I was told not to introduce her to other quails, because of the trauma and that she is generally seen by others as weak. So any answers would be welcome!
So I am SUUUPER late to this... Quail will attack or chase after new birds in their territory. Males will also sometimes chase their mate around a bit, That's normal. Introductions should be done in neutral territory or by putting her in a smaller cage in their normal enclosure for around a week and then letting her out.
