Why do those claiming to be 'Christian' put so much faith in the teachings of any of the 'church Fathers'? Did not Jesus teach his 12 apostles the true gospel? Did not the Holy Spirit "Bring what I have taught you back to your minds"? So that the apostles could in turn pass that truth on to us? Did not Jesus half brother Jude write in (around 55 AD, years BEFORE th church fathers!) "The FAITH was delivered ONCE FOR ALL TIMES TO THE HOLY ONES" (Jude 3) The NT often warned of the teachings of those that followed that would corrupt the truth! ( Acts 20:28-30 ) Most 'church fathers' were not humble men like the apostles but educated philosophers!

Chapter 66 "And this food is called among us εὐχαριστία [the Eucharist], of which no one is allowed to partake but the man who believes that the things which we teach are true, and who has been washed with the washing that is for the remission of sins, and unto regeneration, and who is so living as Christ has enjoined. For not as common bread and common drink do we receive these; but in like manner as Jesus Christ our Saviour, having been made flesh by the Word of God, had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so likewise have we been taught that the food which is blessed by the prayer of His word, and from which our blood and flesh by transmutation are nourished, is the flesh and blood of that Jesus who was made flesh"

Cancel culture existed back then. The Church did Origen dirty for no good reason. He wasn't a heretic.

Paul warned us against such men who would engage in 'Philosophy', human wisdom' e.t.c Much of their writings are strongly influenced by the Hellenistic culture of greek philosophy! Paul counselled "Do not be carried away by the philosophies & traditions of men" Col 2:8. We should just stick to the Holy bible which teaches us all we need to know ( read 2 Tim 3:16.17. It alone leads to being 'thouroughly furnished for every good work"

At face value, what you're saying seems like a plausible concern, but even Paul himself was deeply theological and philosophical in his letters. So much so that Peter wrote that Paul's teachings were hard to understand. You have to exercise discernment and nuance when engaging Church history, traditions and biblical writings. A LOT of heresies and forces of darkness were beginning to emerge the stop the spread of the True Gospel, so these early Saints had to engage with the way these people formulated their philosophical world view. The Bible says we need to always be able to give a defense of our faith. If spiritual and philosophical minds are arising to fight the gospel, we need to be even better stewards of the intellect, wisdom and power God gave us. This is why apologetics are so important, especially today, because as knowledge increases and arguments arise against the faith, we need the be able to destroy the arguments with clarity and grace. The early Church Saints were not only extremely deep in intellect and wisdom, they were very humble, loving, devoted and Holy men. They had amazing fruit and absolutely timeless writings full of virtue and wisdom. And evidence to the Glory of Jesus and his deity. It's all very important to consider and we shouldn't be to quick to speak against people who were being genuine in their love for Jesus and simply carrying on the responsibility and mantle of being a Christian as passed down by the disciples. Yes, the simple gospel of grace and love is the foundation of our salvation, but knowledge, wisdom and intellect is a good additional gift from God. It's only when we value intellect, asceticism, knowledge, wisdom, works, etc... MORE than Christ himself that it becomes the problem Paul was talking about. If it puffs you up, then it's not in the right spirit. But if you are personally convicted to exercise that level of discipline and you can do it humbly without it making you prideful, then it's okay. Paul said "I assume to know nothing but Christ and him crucified", but clearly he's not being literal because he has some really heavy deep theological teachings. So Paul wasn't being extreme and saying not to engage in the law or philosophical knowledge, but rather, he's emphasizing that we need to focus on our foundation of love and grace lest we stumble in our pride. God has a different level and calling for each of us. Some of us can thrive in the simplicity of charity and service, while some of us are intellectually inclined and anointed to be teachers, theologians, prophets, etc.. All of us play a unique role like different cells in the body. We're all united by Christ, the head, be he communicates a different signal through the Holy Spirit for each cell to perform it's unique role. I love the rich depth of the Church fathers and the theology they developed to defend the faith against heresy... But I love the simple gift of love, grace and fellowship with the saints too. There's a balance. God bless you 🙏

@@lifestylemedicinals8692 There is a place for a scholarly approach to Christianity, of course. The scriptures say we should offer God our bodies with "your rational religious service" ( greek 'logikos ' = pertaining to reasoning faculty.) Rom 12:1. Rather that blindly accept what we are taught we should always, make it our own by cognitive thinking. We also owe a deal of gratitude to scholars like Count VonTishedorf who devoted so much of his life in discovering greek & other bible MSS's ( ie; the Siniatic MSS of the entire NT in greek 1844). Also bible translators needed to have been well educated e.t.c. However keeping this matter in perspective, We need to remember that Jesus Christ was a carpenter. The well educated pharisees said of him "How is it that this untrained man has such learning?" ( John 7:15 ). His apostles were chosen in the main too from what we would call the 'backwoods' of Galilee! Of Peter, John & Andrew it was said they were "Men unlettered and ordinary" ( Acts 4:13). What they possessed was faith & love and a good heart, but not cleverness & educated skills!. The earliest Christians were also in the main not generally well educated people "God chose the foolish things of the world to put the wise men ( those with education e.t.c) to shame". ( 1 Cor 1:10-17) However after the like of Polycarp ( we have no record of his education background) the 'church fathers' in the main were from privileged backgrounds, well educated especially in greek philosophy. Justin for example a professor of philosophy, though being coverted to Christianity still walked about in his distinctive philosopher's cloak. As for Cyprian, another clever and educated man, had wealth & a high social position. On his conversion, he was made a 'bishop' after only TWO YEARS, much to the consternation of the local presbyters! ( Paul stated a 'bishop' should not be appointed if he was 'newly converted' 1 Tim 3:6). Its not difficult to see that his education and worldly standing would have influenced his rapid elevation to the high office he assumed!. ( Today all 'bishops' in the anglican church need to have attended university and have a degree in theology!) Having ready in detail the writings of most 'church fathers', I observe they are very clever with words and artful in their reasonings. But I find a lack to staightforward adherance to the gospel of Christ, in favour of hellenist culture and greek philosophy. Three words they use are of interest to me and would like to discuss them with you to show the difference between their concepts based on philosophy and even greek mythology, and the NT. That is LOGOS, PHSYKE, HADES. ( LOGOS especially featured in most 'church father's writings.)
