I’ve had my pair of Bubble Poi and the Bubble handles for about 2 months. My first pair had a lot of issues. The led strip went out on the first set after about a week of use. Also, the usb charging ports got bent and prevented them from charging by the time I got around to getting them replaced. I’d reckon that almost all of the mechanical issues with the product have to do with the bottom caps being positioned right above the solder joints connecting the led strips to the board. On my replacement set, I chose to never remove the bottom cap or change weights, and I’ve dropped them hundreds of times over the past couple of months without any issues whatsoever. I’d advise anyone who purchases these to not mess with the weights or bottom caps until they sort out the design flaw. Coolest and brightest led poi I’ve ever owned, and the app is a game changer...I just hope they sort out some of the mechanical issues with these and redesign the caps so they aren’t flawed.
Those ledstrips inside are most likely APA102 leds. Unfortunately they are fragile, and there is nothing ignis can do about that. I have exactly the same problem with my flowtoys vision clubs, but those pcbs are 2 mm thick and not nearly as fragile as ledstrips. Also, flowtoys offers the best customer service in the game where as ignis often isnt as helpful when i read reviews. Thats too bad because the actual idea is amazing
Old video, but I was curious if you've had any experience since they've updated the design? I just ordered a pair. I was fearful based on what you and others have reported, so I asked if they'd done anything about the issues. They responded citing 4 specific design changes they'd made (since the beginning of 2021). - Band to reinforce LED strip, thereby increasing the number of bends before breaking from 120 to 500 - Longer wires inside - Redesigned the cap - Added stiffeners to the LED strip I'm hoping they'll prove to hold up better now. The mini corrective action report they gave really gives me a good impression though.
I haven't. They did send me another set after this video but I don't think it was the updated set. If they did all those things to fix it then they should be great! I'm stoked to hear this because they do have lots of potential and look rad. The fact that they fixed the cap makes me think they really listen to feedback
Whelp. I was considering Ignis' Bubble Poi for my first set of LED pois, and I'm glad I didn't get them in the end. They look rad for sure, and their app is really groundbreaking for that matter. But tbh, wanna be able to spin them without worrying too much about whether they'll die on me anytime soon. Anyway, went for a custom FlowOnFire set with V2 capsules. Can't wait to get them!
Yikes, thanks for the review. V2 or bust it seems. I haven't been searching out peoples thoughts on these and I've already come across a ton of complaints and issues. Good on them for getting the first ones on the market, buuuuut, yikes.
