I'm so HAPPY to see the new Don't Touch The Horse sign. The Beware sign was deficient. If it read Warning in red letters, it would have been more effective. Beware of Dogs is always posted on a fenced in yard. There is no protective fence around the horses. There's NOTHING preventing people from coming near the horses. Shame.
The new game for some tourists is " OK I can't touch the horse but I will tease the horse /guard by standing close and trying to touch or pretending to ." Until there is a one metre rule to keep back there is still going to be " I'm ignoring your red graphic sign coz I want to ."
@@barbaragouin7232 I was comparing when a Beware sign would be appropriate to use. A fence would never be appropriate with the horse guard. They alternate one hour on duty with a one hour break for the horse and guard.
I kind of felt sorry for her, given how polite she was, and with that brogue-laden battle cry, I would have had to change my shorts for sure 🤣. Best shout ever!
So funny…it always sounds dreadful when a Scotsman yells at you…I wonder if she understood what he said… On the day my husband and his father and sister arrived in this country they were picked up at London Heathrow by a cockney cab driver… None of them deciphered a single word…hehehehe…😊😊😊
@@lizbarakat2191 lol that must have been so intimidating for them! I’ve lived in the mountains of north Georgia (an hour drive north of Atlanta) my whole life, and my family are from all parts of the south. A few years ago when we moved five miles further north, we couldn’t understand anyone! It was so surreal! All of the old families around here are German and Irish, and you can really tell by their accent.
@@MayimHastings An Irish accent is just as bad…I have an internet friend who lives near Atlanta and we got chatting on a Harry Potter group some years back… Sadly Yahoo! Groups closed and everyone has gone their separate ways, but we had a blast for quite a while…
@@lizbarakat2191 Thank you for your reply, Liz! I agree about the Irish yell, I’ve been around a lot of Irish priests and they are terrifying lmao! And i miss the yahoo group era, that was such a fun place! I was in an Alice In Chains group in the early 2000’s but recently found a lot of them in an AIC subreddit! Crazy how we all remember each other. I hope you can reconnect with your group, too! Hotlanta is the friendliest, greenest city, but people moving here often leave a few years later because of how unrelenting the humidity, heat and bugs are. And allergies 🤧. But it’s a beautiful place! Hope you have a joyful upcoming week, Liz! Giant hugs, my friend 🤍🙏🕊
One thing that stands out in many of these videos is the inconsistencies in enforcement between the Blues & Royals (specifically the female troopers) and the Life Guards who enforce the new rule rigorously. The MoD plod seems to be completely clueless (in most cases) and are never stationed where they'd be most effective.
@@joyceroberts3886 How so? She'd just seen others standing exactly where she was stood, if not closer, including the policewoman on the other side, and she probably hadn't heard any instructions to stand behind the bollards as she was on the other side of the horse. Shouting was totally unnecessary - if she had to be told, she could easily have been told far more clearly, far more politely, and far more quietly. Totally unnecessary.
@@joyceroberts3886 Neither am I. How was it "well deserved"? She stood exactly where others had just stood, if anything slightly further away, and she obeyed all the signs. She was probably in no position to hear the one quiet instruction to "move behind the bollards" as she was on the other side of the horse, and shouting at her was unjustified and unnecessary - just stupid. Edit: and how can everyone know what the sign means? No entry to horses? No blessing the horse's head? Even no touching the horse's head? ... and most of the time it's hidden behind those having their photo taken. A five year old could have done better.
Need a better company to do the signage. Why are they letting strangers give food to horses? Glad that something is finally being done about all the abuse these poor horses have had to endure!
Draw crosses on the floor where people have to stand ,and put another sign up on other side ..then they will have no excuse..I’m appalled at the level of disrespect towards guards and horses .
I'd prefer that the royal mounted guards menacingly swing their sabers to convince stubborn, idiotic tourists to immediately obey, move back and keep a respectable distance from stressing out the handsome horses.
@@ront2424 Why would that be? Why would they be an exception to the new rule? They're not trained on horses, they don't work with horses, and their job doesn't give them any more reason to interact with horses than any member of the public, any more than the military would have any reason to interact with, say, a police dog. While most tourists won't know the difference between MoD Plod and Met, or between H Cav and King's Troop, most will know the difference between police and Army, and if they see someone who's not Army being allowed to feed and pat the horses they're likely to follow their example. I'm all in favour of it being at the rider's discretion, but if you want a blanket "don't touch the horse" rule, that was only introduced a week ago so far from "always", with no exceptions, then that's what you have to have.
So one woman comes up and feeds the horse who knows what (how is that not touching?) and he says nothing. Then he barks at a woman whos a good five feet away and does nothing.
I’m Japanese. I wouldn’t take photo here because I don’t want to bother anybody. But if I stand on the same place just like other westerners do, would this guard shout at me?
She didn't. (and they're not "the King's horses" - they're the Army's.

The guard in this clip shouldn’t have to put up with rude and ignorant tourists who pull his horse’s reins and generally take the mickey out of him!!! Go home if you can’t respect British customs or traditions.
They were getting ready to do the changeover so, they were told to get behind the bollards and was even pointed to where to go and she decided that she should not have to do as told and went up for a photo anyway
He let the officer pet the horse while she was communicating with the guard. It's better than having the horse swing around into her face while they communicated. The tourists were told to stay back before that point. The guard was right in what he did and the tourists who didn't listen are butthurt.
@@reginakuhny4150 there was a change of guard imminent and tourists had already been told to get behind the bollards. The lady tourist didn't obey. BTW, these are working soldiers on duty, not there for the pleasure of the tourists.
@@reginakuhny4150mf the lady was allowed to feed the horse. And it was time for the guard change she should be behind the bollards and she came back for seconds. So yeah.
